Look at those boobs. Female Twi'lek gonna be my first character for sure :D
Man, even the art looks WoW: SW edition. I like it though. Looks like a lot of character customization; something WoW fails miserably at.

What class is that dude in the top right? That hat is bad ass.

There's some great Star Wars lore races that went extinct before the time of the films that would be ideal for something like this...
Yea.. lets be honest here.. the only reason the Chiss are in is because of Thrawn. Its a popular race.

But having a single Chiss show up at this point in the chronology is retarded, let alone lots and lots of them.
The thing is though, just because its a playable race doesnt mean that they are plentiful. A few thousand across the entire known galaxy isnt what i would classify being "lots of them."

Zahn's stuff should be in a higher tier of canon than Lucas's stuff. /bow
Having only read the Thrawn trilogy thing, i can agree with that :lol

Either a smuggler or an NPC.

Looks like the same species as Cad Bane from Clone Wars.

It's an outfit based on this piece of concept art. (referring to the original screenshot)

Cowboy Smuggler

Could be, but I'm thinking they won't put new species in those screenshots yet. Otherwise we would've heard.

hot hot hanuman-on-man action

Wow. Reminds me of that one Star Wars novel that most people complained about where its about an interdimensional entity or something :lol Star Wars and hard sci-fi dont really mix well.

Wow, that sounds utterly moronic.

im sure if the quests were good they can be retooled. Why have time travel in SW when you can achieve similar stuff via Force cave-type experiences and keep things in line with the setting?

Exactly. Force Ghosts achieve the same effect without breaking canon. Holograms do as well.

I HAVE to be in this beta. I just have to. I get excluded from a lot of beta tests based on my shitty luck, but I just have to make it into this one. :(

Only 4 sets of BH armour? Err, I sure hope that's the seriously cut down version. I'm not a loot whore but I hated in SWG how everyone looked the same.

The Warrior/Inquisitor quest seemed a bit janky. Switching the players each time the camera looked at them...odd. Can't they just stand next to each other? Also, did the warrior screw over the other player at the end?:lol

The Trooper/Smuggler video seemed cool. But HOLY SHIT that Rodians eyes are fucking huge. The Twi'Leks boobs are fucking huge for that matter too, bloody hell. :lol

The absolute best thing about this game is that both the gameplay, aesthetic and feel seem very near like Kotor.

I watched one of the G4 specials on this today, it got me pretty excited (not that I wasn't already). They showed a lot of gameplay, combat especially. I was impressed with what I saw, it looked pretty good.

And to whoever scoffed at me earlier about asking what classes would be healing classes, the group combat portion of the show was from the perspective of someone that was exclusively healing. I believe it was a Jedi Consular.

Okay, man. I keep getting woodies for this game like it's Natalie Portman.

The ship stuff looks like it'll be more like Mass Effect where it's just a place to gear up, talk to your crew, and choose where you want to go. It'll be interesting to see if they ever add a space combat system.

I'm completely sold on Smuggler combat. Cover system looks hawt.

Does anyone know if we get to choose our own voice? Or is it set by gender/class/race? I just want to have Jennifer Hale be my character. Assuming she's doing PC voices.

Some of the voice overs where on the lame side though. Still, I'd rather that than have to read.

We've seen a lot more BH armor than just the 4 they showed off in that video.

It's just an impression of what armor will look like at different stages of item lvls. So its probably starter armor, 2/4 down the road, 3/4 down the road... and endgame armor.

They've stated in the interviews that there are literally thousands of pieces of armor, also cosmetic pieces. "Nobody will look the same", is what was said in the g4tv interview yesterday.

After watching some of the G4TV stuff I'm kinda mixed about this game. It looked cool but it all of a sudden seemed mad wow-ish. All the talk of tanks and healers and stats on loot. They spoke about everyone acting the hero. How is sitting back healing a tank heroic?
They also said the game can't be completed by yourself. I thought they said you could? You know, with companions?

Ugh, I just hope it's not those stupid 3 hour 40-man raids. GOD THOSE SUCK. 2,3, 4 man. I'm happy. 30 man but an hour long? That's nice. Waking up at 8am on a Sunday to spend most of the day raiding "Sith Lords Tomb" with 39 other people? Heeeeell no. At least all the team work has been 2-5 players so far which is much easier to handle for a casual MMO player like myself.

What I did like though is you aren't stuck with the one role. Like a warrior MUST be a tank or something. They showed a ranged tank, that seemed pretty cool and they said each class can chose several roles depending on what they want. So if you go a warrior you might not be stuck tanking all the time. The combat is looking a lot sharper too. Already looks better than WoW in that aspect.

I still look forward to it but the more MMO-ish it looks the more worried I get it will be to much like WoW.

The point of the game is to be a timesink and very much like WoW obviously. I wouldn't be surprised if thats exactly how raids worked only im a smaller scale, like 20 people.

At first, I was worried about this as well, but now I'm not. If you want to be in a non-WoW SW mmo, there's always SWG. This game is meant to improve on the WoW style of gameplay, and be set in a sci-fi atmosphere. The reason I always struggled to get into WoW or Warhammer is that I've never been a huge fan of the fantasy genre. I have the feeling I'll be very into this.

Well, yeah. It's a MMO :lol .

I have a feeling beta will start in a few months, but who knows.

? Other interviews at E3 like the one Massively did has Bioware reps saying the opposite that you can single player most of the game content. Majority of the game is supposed to be scalable with different rewards and such depending on scale of difficulty/players involved.

The character story stuff is supposed to be fully soloable, but there will be content in the game outside of the story material that will likely require groups to do.

Well the whole tanking, dps, etc is not a WoW thing, but something that has been standard in western RPG's for decades now. Even the tabletop SW rpg has most of this type of stuff in it as it's just common RPG fodder. The terms are also pretty well known descriptors that apply to most RPG's and are good for devs to explain their game mechanics. Even in stuff like Galaxies which was very different style of MMO from say WoW, you would have combat roles split into the same basic categories.

Here is an impression from MMORPG.com regarding the Imperial Agent. It doesn't really have anything new, but I did notice this piece of interesting information:

Oh, and here's a little gem for you geeks out there like me. If you're wondering how Bioware is accounting for the fact Chiss are suddenly prevalent throughout the galaxy, at least enough to be represented in Star Wars: The Old Republic as a playable race. Daniel's answer was, "They aren't." which leads me to believe that races may actually be faction, and perhaps in some cases class specific. Something to think about.

I also remember some interview (I don't remember where I saw it) where BioWare mentioned that there would be "tons" of playable races.

This exactly. It goes all the way back to Dungeons and Dragons afaik. You had a standard group size of 4.. Fighter to soak up damage and deal damage, Cleric to heal/buff/debuff, Magic-User to deal damage/crowd control, and Thief to deal with dungeon hazards and compliment damage.

And BioWare was purposely showing off the standard classes to show that you could do it (tank, dps, healer).

Although even that was different because, if you look at the Jedi Consular for instance, she may have been healing but as she was healing she was holding a lightsaber in her other hand. Most healers in typical MMOs can only do one thing good: healing. That Consular looked like she was ready to take on some enemies in case something went awry. This is a different beast with similarities (every base class in TOR tends to do two things well and then the advanced class splits those two things into two separate specializations). The companion characters can also change the battle field too. I like the concept of having my companion character and myself as a healer unit acting as a medical ward so my other team can let loose recklessly.

Yea, if I find the interview again, I'll post it. It was an E32010 interview, but there's a lot out there and I'm not sure which website I found it from.

I think of it as a good thing. I'm incredibly sick of buying MMOs on launch just to find out they're buggy, unpolished, missing tons of content, etc.

As much as I want TOR right now, the longer they take to finish it the happier I'll be.

It looks like the Game Testing program has officially started as per this thread:

http://swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=155341

There are some things to note:

(1) The Community Manager, Sean Dahlberg, has posted twice in this thread and has neither closed the thread nor deny that the Game Testing has started. Ordinarily, he would have closed this thread and linked to the official Game Testing program thread.

(2) People have confirmed that there is a Game Testing program and that they are participating in it (the only two things someone participating in the Game Testing can actually say about it).

Here's what DarthHater has to say about this:

http://darthhater.com/2010/06/23/rumor-game-testing-to-start-soon/

Check your email to see if you got an invite!

If you're wondering, I checked my email and I can confirm one thing: I am not participating in the Game Testing program as of currently. :(

Oh my god... Trouble why did you have to link those videos to me... I was interested in this game since it's announcement since I loved KOTOR 1/2 but god why did I click this thread now.. I think I am fucked now and have no choice but to play this shit when available lol..

A fair and honest warning to the new guys

For those that don't know what you are in for... (As a ultra veteran WoW player that quit about 7 months ago and have quit like 3 times before that but I think it's for good now)

STAY AWAY FROM THIS GAME, you will get FUCKING ADDICTED.

If this will be your first MMORPG you do not know what you are getting yourself into.

Bioware is going to REALLY give Blizzard a run for it's money and then some.

I had forgotten that I had signed up for the beta back in "Account Created Date: 10/01/09" LOL... Oh Jesus hold me.
