Throughout this entire clip it looks like this guy has like three moves (jump at guy and swing, swing both lightsabers overhanded, thrust one lightsaber). I can see him hitting different buttons on the bottom, but visually it seems really boring to play whatever he's playing.

He is level 12 and if you watch closely he does not have a lot of abilities yet and only uses a fraction of them: the jump/charge ability (jump animation), the standard autoattack replacement/spam ability (that is the animation you see over and over again), some kind of flurry attack that needs to be channeled (more complex animation with several attacks in a short timeframe), some kind of point blank AE attack that damages a nearby enemy and kills another one early in the video (yet another animation - looks like some kind of jump or whirlwind attack followed by a small blastwave) and the out of combat regeneration ability. So while he seems to have around 10, he only seems to be using 5 different abilities. Also, he only uses the out of combat regeneration once and the PBAE attack twice.

Basically, there seems to be one animation per ability and the reason it looks like the same animation over and over again is, because he is in fact spamming the same ability (auto attack replacement) for 90% of the time.

It's like watching someone playing a level 12 Warrior in World of Warcraft using only autoattack, charge/intercept whenever it's ready and one or two thunderclaps over the duration of nearly ten minutes. That would not look very interesting, would it?

Today, based on this thread's recommendation, I ordered a new keyboard (G110), mic (Logitech 980186-0403), and mouse (G400).

My body is ready.

We have almost the same system. I have an i7 though. I have 4GB of RAM but I'm replacing it with 8GB because both the sticks are bad.

After playing over the weekend I think this game will be out in November.

Pretty well polished beta so far for me. They just need to rly work over auction house and add some direction for crafting.

Questing/story lines are pretty well done. If you are a KOTOR fan you will like this approach. Really cool seeing party members contribute to the dialogue cutscenes.

Combat feels awesome and I don't normally do PVP in these games but the PVP game they have avail right now was a hell of a lot of fun. Really chaotic with environment traps and vertical platforming

For those interested in the Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-Ray, barnesandnoble.com has it for $69.99 with free shipping (Compare that price to Amazon's $89.99 price tag) so savings of $20 is a great deal! Deal is goof TODAY ONLY!

Wow, thanks for that. They even ship to Canada (which for Amazon.ca is $99.99) so this works well for me.

Edit: It's also kind of sad. I switched the order over to B&N, and cancelled my Amazon.ca order I've had since my b-day in January =P

So whats going on with this game?

If I preorder from Origin Now, when will I most likely be charged? (digital copy)

And what are my chances of getting in right now if I preorder?

and everyone who preorders absolutely gets access in Sept?

Origin doesn't charge right away. They do a credit check but then just charge $5
Depends if you use a debit or credit card. If you use a debit card they'll tie up the full price of the game until the $5 charge goes through completely.

Edit: Unless thats what you meant by "credit check".

They do that bullshit "authorization" thing, which means that yeah, they charge you right away and then credit the money back within 3-5 business days. For all intents and purposes they fucking charge you.

I thought you were highly into the game?

I was. Look @ my post up above. Real life came calling. I had no idea my job would be often 50+ hours a week. It's partially because I am new and have a lot to learn. It may ease down a bit though. I may still join in, but may come in later post-launch.

For the billion people PMing me: the $40 for a beta key thing was a joke.
You can stop lying. You gave it to me. $80 to get in now, suckers!

The beta is tied to your swtor.com account, you can't give it to someone without giving them your account

I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a beta key today! But seriously I didn't even respond to that post cause I knew it was a joke, if GAF republic were get into the beta everyone here would be shouting it at the top of their lungs!

That doesn't mean that ALL of the story content is available in the beta. They're almost certainly withholding certain bits and pieces to keep the testers interested in the final game.
BattleMonkey said:
Don't think they know if they are testing it all though. Couple pages back bioware dude seemed to indicate that not all flashpoints are in the beta either at this point. It's not uncommon that lot of things get left out of beta tests, or that they aren't finished enough and if so they might not appear in the actual beta till a later build or not at all.
From what I've experienced, it does not seem like they're holding anything back for story/lore/ohshitmoment! reasons.

I went ahead an applied to the Rep guild, in case we get a guild invite.
yeah right

I was leaning toward trying out a Bounty Hunter, but all those videos of red Sith with mohawks made me defect.

Perhaps story content wise it's all there or mostly all there, but I imagine more of the shared/generic content is being held back like Flashpoints, pvp areas, etc, etc. Sure they got lot of stuff being worked on, many of it possibly wont even make launch and just be held back for content updates at later dates.

I hate that shit. Instead of just putting the shit in the game, they work on updates to the game at the same time.

It's a MMO. They have to hold stuff back or else the monthly fee isn't worth it.

They need to be able to release new content, at launch the game is going to have lots of stuff already so they no doubt feel they can hold things back a bit. Also many times stuff is held back just because they can't get it done in time. With the game in the home stretch to make launch they surely have had to scale back on various things to the back burner to try and polish what they have for launch, rest will come later.

If Bioware is smart they will do like Blizzard did and have some sizable updates waiting in the wings to release in the months after launch.

Or perhaps would be better to have slow trickles of frequent little content updates like RIFT has been doing.

Oh, and buyable apartments on the capital cities!

That sounds like how Blizzard did it. Almost every month or two there was something new introduced.
