For raids, I wonder how they're going to balance melee versus range dps requirements. Will you be forced to have an equal amount of both? I thought it would have been cool to make it so only range DPS could attack the turrets, while melee handles the adds, but that would be tough for all melee groups.

I understand why there aren't wookie or droids but surely they can have something more interesting in the Star Wars fiction that "human with red face and horns", "human with red face and chin horns", "human with green face", "human with blue face", "human with pale face"...

Something else I've noticed, if you read between the line when talking about lootbags from Operations, they only specifically mention the normal mode. I'm taking that as meaning the hardmodes will have loot tables. Now I could be wrong, but something tells me I'm right.

The reason they made them all humanoid races is because of the story, romance and dialog. How annoying would it be talking in Shyriiwook all the time?

"Ah, I see the new recruit has shown up."
"Roar roar roar?"
"Yes, I need you to kill these droids for me. They have become a problem"
"Roar roar roar roar roar"

And a Moncal in a romance...gross.

However, I would have liked them to try and find away around this. I would have liked a more diverse range of races.

Animation and armor.

It's easier to animate the characters when they are all reskinned humans.

And its MUCH easier to put the different pieces of armor on the playable races when they are all reskinned humans.

Starting in September, they'll be inviting more people into the beta to test on the weekends. It's supposed to be a much larger pool of players than what they've been inviting in the past.

Apparently we're supposed to have some information on that in one of today's panels.

Well, I guess there is the voice acting thing, too.

Giving WoW as an example there is hardly fair. The gear looks quite horrible and bland on pretty much anything. Only the helmet and shoulders truly stand out and need a bit of attention.

Not sure what you're trying to convey, especially with the FFXI pics. In FFXI, never once does the player character ever perform a complex animation that interacts with another character, in or out of cutscenes. Hell, in said cutscenes, your character spends the majority of the time in the background staring like a clueless moron.

Additionally, there are separate files for the same armor sets for every race/gender combination. The DAT swapping community for FFXI proved that. Modifying say, the monk AF gear for a galka wouldn't change anything for the other races. You had to custom model that same armor for each race/gender.

It's simply an issue of realistic expectations.
