Well can see them launching it soon, but I can imagine lot of stuff is going to get cut and left out at launch.
I really wouldnt count on it. I've seen WoW expansions go from buggy and unplayable to sharp and finished-looking in a matter of one or two builds.

It also depends what beta his friend is in. There's more than one going on.

Not really about the buggy part, but the lack of stuff in the game that is not even in beta that has been talked about. Seems lot of things have not gone into testing or even been shown off yet but they talk about it being there such as many more flashpoints, operations, and the pvp planet that only had screens shown at PAX. Imagine lot of this stuff is not being openly tested or shown off yet because it has a high chance of not being ready for launch

a more likely explanation is you arent hearing about these things because of the NDA.

Build date was July 22,2011 or somewhere around there.

Other than the glitches I really do like the game. Maps are way way too fucking large on Coruscant. Supposedly though there is some sort of upgrade to movement speed that I can get (not the speeder). Also people are going to spazz out at the number of quests in Coruscant. There must be atleast twenty if not thirty quests there alone.

That sounds like an old build to me.

Was thinking about pre-ordering TOR but I noticed EA isn't allowing any discount promo codes to be used with the pre-order on Origin. That's kinda whack.

Beta weekends finalize stress testing, current internal build released to "normal" beta participants next month, bugs fixed through Sept on current internal build, final build available for Early Access, then patched all to hell for launch. Right now, Oct 18th or Nov 1st seem like the most obvious dates, or Oct 11th and Nov 15th. (Paired dates are tied for likelihood from my prediction)

There is little that hasn't leaked. Lot of big details for things have only been mentioned by Devs and not seen by anyone, they would have to be in very very closed beta test groups or just in internal. Any content in such testing groups though generally is because it is not ready for larger test groups and far off from actual release.

It's common that this kind of stuff is often being crunched to make it in last minute for launch, and often stuff is cut from MMO launches for later content updates.

That makes sense especially for pvp planets. That would (I assume) be cap lvl worlds so they could roll that out a month or two after launch without much criticism.

I look forward to getting into the beta weekend only to spend the entire weekend downloading the client.

If you get in one, are you in them all? Or do you have to be re-invited every weekend?

You're only in one. I have no idea if you'll be able to get into more than one. Hopefully they'll let us download the client early.

I'm pretty sure Stephen Reid said on twitter yesterday that there would be time built in to download the client before the weekend started.

Would be lame to only be in one. 2 weekends in September are booked for me, with my luck I will get in on one of those weekends and not the others.

Well that's the way I'm interpreting it based on a PM I got from a certain Bioware employee.

Only one weekend? wtf I thought you get into all of them depending how early you get in.
That might be it. All I know is that if you're in one of them, it doesn't mean you're in all of them.

That seems weird. I think they are using this as a stress test as much as anything so i think they will ramp up the number of people invited each week. I think if you get in one weekend your in all the following weekends. Makes no sense to restrict testers on certain weekends. A system like Rift is what they are going for I think.

Um you do know that EQ2 did this before WOW was even released.

Joke reply? I mean, I know that EQ 2 was out before WOW, but it was by like, two weeks. Both were obviously developed and had that system in place independently of one another.

Its obvious that eq2 was first , you admit it yourself and its obvious that if TOR is copying any one it would be EQ2 .

Also Eq2 was not the first to feature taxi like services

Yeah, no kidding. Dark Age of Camelot is a perfect example with its horse routes. You weren't flying in the air, but the concept was the same. You paid a fee and you'd be taxi'd to the next location.

And for the record, Dark Age of Camelot was a Mythic game. Guess they're stealing ideas from themselves.

yup , also ultima online had its boat taxi service where you could pay an npc to take you to another area by water.

I also believe lineage and lineage 2 featured a taxi like service.

I get tired of people saying oh wow did it first lol lol . Its obvious to some of us who have been playing mmorpgs since the begining that almost every idea has been done before and wow has copied just as much from previous mmorpgs as any other game.

It didn't stop millions from liking wow and it wont stop millions from liking swtor.

Everyone living in NA. Euros and others get shafted until their betas begins.

I am beginning to get the funny suspicion that Europe might see a later release than NA. I wouldn't be surprised if that would happen.

This is the price you pay for getting the Operation Rainfall games (Xenoblade, Last Story) ;)

Since they said there won't be any sort of ip blocking, If this does happens, I don't see the need of waiting for a later release in the EU.

Still don't see the game releasing this year though. Maybe very late november. If it doesn't make it by then, I can see it pushed back to early 2011. Jan-Feb.

The game can easily launch this year , its not really missing any content . I've been beta testing mmorpgs for a long time and alot of mmorpgs will cap the level yo ucan get to even in closed beta so that content and info doesn't leak out. I'm sure bioware has alot of content that is being tested internaly that will be ready at alunch.

As for ip blocking , it really depends where do you get the client from ? If they don't release the client on origin or in stores for the uk you'd have to import it.

I'd guess it only be a few weeks diffrence if europe does get a delayed launch

Yeah true. I still think it is strange they're not testing their euro servers though.
