The world quest are just as good. Hell, I would say some of the bigger world quest are the best in the game.

Yeah don't want to spoil them. I am playing empire right now, and plan to roll republic at launch, but i'd like to be safer than sorry.

But yes, everyone I have talked to agrees the beta has only improved their view.

Had 2 friends in the beta over the weekend. One couldn't believe how ugly it was actually seeing it in motion on his screen, and doesn't think anyone will actually want to sit through 4 choices before being able to pick up a quest and wished there was just a button he could mash to select all evil choices and move on. The other loved it.

I'm flagged for future weekend stress tests apparently, so I guess I'll be forming my own opinion soon enough.

You should stop being friends with that one friend. Dear god everything he said blows my mind. If he really wants to speed up dialogue, he should hit the spacebar and mash a number key.

The Imperial Agent (and I assume Smuggler also) was boring as shit to play. I don't know how they are going to convince anyone to play these classes. You hide behind a fucking rock and hit buttons. That is terrible in a dungeon with bosses that move around and terrible in PvP because it completely negates the advantage of a ranged class kiting ability.

I figured I'd try IA because I assumed they would be a very underplayed class. Yeah they will be, and even my desire to play an underplayed class won't get me to play one.

They have some of the most fun stories. They also don't require you to constantly be behind cover to use most of their abilities, they all have lots of abilities that work fine normally. They put in the crouch feature as to speed up taking cover as it takes about a second to do, you use your sniper shot, and then move. They have also given them a bunch of immunities while in cover to various abilities. They also have stun abilities to help escape in the case of an enemy getting close.

Also the dependence on cover or crouching is largely based on your class build.

You even get talents that let you count as being 'in cover' for like 5 seconds after leaving it, so as long as you remember to re-cover when you're not moving you're ALWAYS in cover. Those classes work very well.

Several flashpoints, and I never had trouble with the cover and they have improved it in this build (though still acts wonky with taking wrong cover at times). As long as you got a good tank things move smoothly, and when its time to move, you can instantly break out of the cover and quickly jump back into it. None of these classes are useless outside of cover, you get lot of non cover abilities.

I dunno, IA just didn't click with me. I think BH is going to be the class I end up sticking with, they seem to have a lot of PvP potential, but i haven't tried one yet.

I can accurately say this time "you're doing it wrong" with the "range kiting" comment.

IA sniper by design is meant to be semi-static and gets skills that promote that gameplay. And yeah it works for most people who learn the new idea very well (highest dps easily in pvp matches).

If you talent correctly, you can pop in and out of cover every 6 seconds getting huge bonuses, and then use your cover defensive abilities to make you immune to almost everything.

Downside is people can run from you (if they do so immediatley and not close in on you) but upside is anyone charging you will most likely be an easy kill. Only stealth classes can be a headache.

So should I get the CE? Or not?

It's all cosmetic, right?

CzarTim said:
They did. You had to turn it on in the options.
Hmm I couldn't find the options. I should look harder. Games are consistent about where to put them.

No one knows whats in the CE VIP exclusive in game shop, so hard to say. But the physical one comes with authenticator, statue, in game mouse droid pet, weapon color crystal, etc

So, after that weekend beta test, I'm 100% for sure keeping my pre-order now. My hype had been dying steadily over the past couple weeks/months, but damn I had a lot of fun with that. Can't wait.

Speaking of stealth, how effective is stealth in this game? Are there classes that can just chill in stealth for long periods of time? I was going to do IA because I guess the scoundrel is supposedly also a stealth class.

IA Agent and the Smuggler equivalent can do long term stealth. Other classes with stealth only have limited stealth abilities.

The classes are mirrored across the factions. Name and visuals of abilities are different, but they are exactly the same when it comes to function and numbers.

Oh I see. I need a fan made write up of all the play styles of each class and advanced class.

Urge to get CE Rising.

I wish that Authenticator was one for Origins though. Would be cool to have everything Origins protected, but I guess not since TOR is working on a client not reliant on Origins.

I was surprised when I rolled a BH and saw that they used Heat instead of Ammo, even though it's functionally exactly the same class, the distinctions being even at that level made it FEEL like a different character which is a nice touch (IE: instead of costing 3 ammo like a trooper attack it'd give you 3 heat, instead of regaining ammo you lose heat as it dissipates, etc).

Can you guys login on the swtor site?

I changed my password a few days ago according to their new password policy and now I can't login for some reason. The weird thing is my NEW password works in the Origin client with the same account.

Anyone else have similar problems?

Yep. Getting Login Failed "Might be because of TOS changes to Origins" blah blah.

I contacted their customer support just to make sure that they are actually aware of the issue.
I will post here when they get back to me.

I think I'm gonna cancel my preorder for this. Don't really like EA and there are other things I would rather be doing. Weird.

This is wrong. Shadows and Assassins also get full stealth.

They just sent me an e-mail about the password change they mentioned back in the first week of November. You login, it generates a secure password sent to your e-mail address you registered with, and then you enter that and choose a new one.

Yeah. While I don't like what EA has been up to, this is the main reason I just bought a boxed version from Amazon instead so I can avoid Origin. Also, I never post on official forums. They are just terrible places to be on, and there is no way i'd ever post on them (account bans reason).

Having the same problems, I know its not my password because I just reset it on Thursday in preparation for the beta and used it all weekend but now its not working and I get an email reminding me to change my password

I don't want to start all over again during the next weekend. As much as I want to play, I'm almost tempted to skip it and wait for release. My lvl 18 Sorcerer was a lightning casting badass and a complete jerk to boot. I already miss him.

Doing the same. Don't feel like starting all over again and then have to do the same for retail.

I don't know about that. Anectdotal evidence here, but most of my friends who quit have said Pandas won't be enough to bring them back.

I'm not talking go play Warhammer, and come back for Wrath quit, but I mean genuinely done with WoW quit.

Judging by the general channel chat and my friends impressions of the beta, I think this game is going to do extremely well.

This happens when every major MMO comes out.

One of the main reason I declined an invite to the beta from a friend a couple months ago. Don't like to invest so much time in something that will just vanish once comes the release.

Yep. There is so little time to play the late year releases (Skyrim, the new Assassin's game, ect.) You know once SWTOR comes out, it will pretty much be the only thing you play.

I definitely won't be buying this after playing the beta. I expected it to look and feel better. I didn't have fun progressing. The class I picked (marauder) was boring. I quit that at level 20 and leveled a Bounty Hunter until around 11 and didn't have much fun with that either. I thought the flashpoints were neat but I didn't like the fact you rolled dice to get your character into the speaking action. I went through an entire flashpoint where one guy won 90% of the rolls.

I'm disappointed that its a WoW clone. I can't wait until MMOs can be successful without having to copy the same formula.

I know plenty of you love the game. It's just not for me. I've fallen out of love with MMO play I think.

Happens every big MMO. Every time. I remember when Age of Conan came out, I was a big WoW player then, guilds were shutting down for it. Same thing for Warhammer.

Hell, back in EQ days people were talking about switching over to "EQ Killers" like AC2. lol.

I'm surprised big WoW guilds are choosing this game to go to. It's so unpolished. They'll be waiting 2-3 years for the polish that WoW has. And normally their big complaint is difficulty. This game lets you rez where you died with invisibility for 8 seconds with no penalty.

And then you just die again if you haven't improved. Game is definitely harder questing than WoW, let alone the questing experience not carrying over to raids in the least in that manner (You're not going to be sitting there ghost-rezzing during boss fights). Not surprised at all, it needs to prove that it can have a stream of content, but itlooks like a real choice is here.

Yeah, it happens every major release -- don't get your hopes up about the success of failure of the game vis' a vie anecdotal evidence about people from WoW moving over. Because it happened with WAR, it happened with Conan, it happened with RIFT and it'll happen again.

Just be happy that the game is coming out and that it's a blast to play.

The IA was a ton of fun for me. I picked Operative at 12, though, and was a bit confused. It seems like a weird mix of stealth and melee with the ranged goodies you got from your pre-operative agent. It was confusing to figure out which abilities I should be using.

Honestly that's part of it's charm though. Fresh coat of paint.

I'll play a bit again on the next weekend beta, though it's more to see if the next patch improves client performance than getting any game time in since progress is futile. If my character doesn't get wiped from this past weekend, I may dabble in crafting for awhile. But I'm pretty much done doing all the combat and storyline stuff. I've already spoiled enough.

I played the Republic Trooper to level 9,just in time to get my companion and I liked it...next weekend,i`m going to try an Empire Inquisitor and probably decide or play both of them at launch...

Seeing negativity from some testers is disheartening. But come to think of it, ever since TOR was announced, there was turmoil.

Anyone remember initially how upset people were over the artsize? The ugly oversized lightsabers and giant hands?

After that followed a wave of negativity from SWG fans. It's still a hard pill to swallow for many that this is themepark with all the inherent problems intact(presumebly?) kill stealing, queues for pvp, everyone doing the same quests, no sense of altering the world, spending frustrating amounts of time finding groups, hardcore vs casual.

And ever since then there has been "waves" of other disappointments. For example, space combat on rails, lack of variaty in races, no day/night cycles, WoW-like Battlegrounds and Raids, and so on and so forth.

TOR has had a difficult life before it even was announced. Between the hordes who want it like WoW with an end game like WoW that will satisfy their sadistic lust for loot and elitism, and those who who are so fed up with the current trappings of MMORPGs that they want to stab themselves.

If TOR will yet be another game that is not fun to play at the end game, during the Warzones and Operations and Heroric Flashpoints, then I am not sure how much more faith I can have in this genre. It's been almost down right disappointment after appointment's since the early days of the original Guild Wars, and WoWs release.

For a genre to fail this hard continually is very interesting. Development teams seem unable to stay the path.

I'm not. WoW is over 7 years old, and people are looking for something new to play. Thing is, Star Wars plus Bioware RPG is a very strong combination.

That whole Panda shit is a turn off, and this is the next best thing until GW2

Clear your cookies related to the SWTOR site, then give it another go with the new password. This happened to me as well a couple of weeks back, and this worked. For me at least. :) Good luck.
