Because the game wasn't made with a controller in mind. I can't begin to stress how difficult it would be to play with one. Just getting to a skill on the hotbar alone would be an exercise in frustration. By the time you have reached skill 6 with a controller you'll have wasted probably 3-4 global cooldowns, maybe more.

If they altered the UI a bit, they could do something like DCUO. Left shoulder buttons could be shift+ctrl modifiers while a right shoulder button changes 1-4 to 5-8.

Most people don't use anything beyond 1-6 since it gets too far to reach on the keyboard.
The only issue is all the hotkeys for maps, journals, etc.

They would still have to take out many features, and DCUO has lot of issues with their set up in that because you can only assign limited abilities to the controller inputs, lot of abilities that could be useful, never get used as they are not worth the slot.

So, uh, when I try to log in on the swtor site it says "LOGIN FAILED - We have modified our password policy. You may be affected. Click here for more information."

But if you want to change your password, you need to login :S

I can login on the launcher just fine though.

I use a nostromo, however arranging the UI into a square pattern to match the nostromo like I do in WoW is not possible AFAIK. So that will take some getting used to.

I hope there are scaling options for the UI. Action bars that take up so much space are so 2001.... (just kidding. okay, half kidding).

I personally bind 7-0 to my mouse.

Features? Not really.

Realistically, a dps rotation uses 4-5 skills with the every now and then cooldown buffs (at least that's what it was for my feral and boomkin druid).

The only issues are those 15-30s cooldown buffs or debuffs, the emergency 3-5 minute cooldown buttons which all tanks needs, and it's going to be difficult to point and click and attack. Movement fights would be extremely difficult, so the game would have to change and be tuned for controllers.

Not saying that it should be done, but it can be done.
I wouldn't bother support gamepads on PC anyways. It's just a niche feature.

Why? :/

I'd like a bit of a challenge.

People were saying they went and made it too hard. Before it was too easy, and then they said they went to extreme with difficulty

It's not just about abilities, but general UI usage and world interaction as a whole which would need to be completely changed, or incredibly messy like how DCUO is, and that game is far simpler than most MMOs. Even with the revamped UI, DCUO still is a mess to use with a controller outside of just its combat. But making it work for controls is of course pretty much making a completely different game, or simply letting players do it themselves with their own bindings and wish them luck at success.

Depends on what wave you're in. Wave 1 gets to play starting friday, wave 2 starts saturday and the last wave starts on sunday.

Yeah, I'm still waiting on the news concerning waves. Not sure which one I'll be in. Downloaded the client but I can't log in yet. Was really hoping to have this DL'ed before Friday but its cool. Also, the Den sounds like a nice distraction, though I'm not really into PvP.

Well DCUO is a bad example of an MMO. The chat doesn't even work.

Interaction wouldn't change because you add a virtual keyboard and it's the same as using a real keyboard. It's slower, but it's there. Nothing needs to change about that.
Need to look at your journal? Press select to toggle the menu bar and scroll over to it. Sure, it's clunky, but it works. Nothing needs to change.

Everything that a KB+M does can be done on the gamepad except a million times slower.

They got rid of the Sunday wave, it's just 2 waves now one on Friday and one on Sat.

Good job by Bioware to change their mind instead of making people download 20 GBs for 14 hours.

And then you have things like targetting functions (healing would be functionally impossible), movement, the fact that most classes in star wars just like wow actually do use closer to 15-20 hotkeys (not 4-5)...the game would not work on a gamepad. MMOs with native gamepad support are always dumbed down for a PC interface, this would be awful.

Dude, I use 48 hotkeys for my druid and pally. I only end up using 4-5 for my dps rotation excluding things that are on long cooldowns.

You're going to be using 10, at most, for a fight, with everything else being an emergency button or some fight specific macro.

The clusterfuck continues, go to login to the TOR site and I have to reset my password again which I already did about a week ago.

Friday at 10am CST. I have nothing else planned this weekend so I should get lots of playtime in. The question is, do I continue my level 15 Jedi Guardian from the last weekend, or start a new toon to see how another class plays?

People have left wow and come boomeranging back for quite some time now. EA/Bioware just have to make sure they're staying away this time around. They have to produce "crystal dream"...

+1 internets for the Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man reference.

Their emails can take a few hours (up to 4-5 hours from what i've heard) to arrive so it's still possible that you got in Friday.
