I knew this would happen.

Weekend testers joining my server despite it already being high population. In a bloody queue to log on.

Now i remember why i don't play casters in MMOs. Casters are robe users and robes look god awful without any kind on cloth physics... They have decent physics for capes, why not for robes as well :(

Game feels a bit janky overall.. Even basic thing like moving camera around feels laggy. There is also quite a bit of stuttering and game doesn't even look very good. Environments are large, but feel pretty lifeless, standard old skool mmo stuff i guess.

Hopefully things get better once things get further.

One thing for sure is that there is no stuttering in the game. Graphics are smooth 60fps+ on high detailed and forced AA at 1080p. Not personally experienced any lag with the camera. In fact it feels pretty crisp which is nice for pvp.

You running a decent pc?

One thing that will be interesting is to see the reaction of players going into this who haven't really played a MMO before. Gamers going into this expecting an experience like KOTOR or ME will be disappointed. As an experienced fan of the genre since EQ I must say I am enjoying the pve and pvp.

Holy shit. The male Consular has the worst voice acting I've seen yet from a main character. I had to stop playing one because I hated the voice so much.

I am surprised they don't give you different voice options while creating your character. Maybe they will with release?

.

I'm struggling to maintain 40fps in open areas when my PC is definitely capable

They do, male or female :p

They already had to record thousands of lines of dialogue twice per character class. I'd be shocked if they offered more choice. That said, I'm not a fan of the female Smuggler and wouldn't mind another option

Want me to ruin the game for you? That's the same voice actor as every single male vendor in the entire game.

Do TOR goggles blind people to 2 day queues?

The Queue estimates aren't really accurate either. My server said it had a 3 hour queue. It took 30 minutes. It's the opposite of Blizzard's queues that always report a 10 minute wait and then take 3 hours.

So far It seems that If the game didn't have the Star Wars pull it would just be a very plain mmorpg.

And the graphics are very plain, even EQ2 looked better than this years ago.

I guess I am just expecting too much. Not impressed with the game at all from my first impressions, I just hope it picks up.

Played it for some time, it's not really grabbing me. It just feels like a lot of MMOs out there, it has that bland and stiff feel, both animation and graphical wise. Combat seems pretty good in some cases but overall it hasn't done anything for me.

Okay, perhaps someone can help me out here. I have a Steelseries Cataclysm MMO Gaming Mouse, and the majority of the buttons are bound to simple key strokes. I log in to the weekend beta - my first chance to try the game - and it won't accept any attempt to keybind the mouse buttons!

I can't be the only one with this mouse, so does anyone know anything about this issue? A search on Google throws up something about everyone with a Steelseries mouse having this issue in beta, but I can't find out any more. This game has to be the only one I have tried that does not simply recognise the mouse buttons as keystrokes. Disappointing.

Thanks in advance.

eh.. I liked it.

Started playing a Consular. I'm enjoying it. I haven't played others so I have nothing to compare it too but so far its been pretty entertaining. Game runs great as well and looks good. Enjoying the skill set the Consular has.

Push that toaster.. get it up to 1024x768. I know you can do it. EQ2 looked nothing like this. Though i guess it might if you are using the same machine from when EQ2 first came out.

The game looks that way to me too (minus the comparison to EQ2) This is bland.

decided to try a Bounty Hunter instead of a Jedi Knight... It's WAY more fun! I'm actually enjoying the game now.. which is silly because it's not even that much different. Funny how that works.

Are the starting zones based on class instead of race, then?

Game has awful performance. Can't even maintain 60fps at 1080p with a 2500k and GTX 570 both OC'd.

And that's without AA. Game doesn't even look good either, wtf.

Yo, the people who hate the game...let me get your login info until my account is active tomorrow. In exchange I'll give someone one of my beta accounts (login info + security questions.) I so can't wait till tomorrow to play. I wanna play NAO!

Levelled my consular to 10, so much fun! loving the quests and Tython was a great experience :) played Commando in the previous beta and you can see that there is a definite improvement in the overall polish of the game.

Maybe it's because there's a lot of people around, but it's still shoddy considering WoW looks and performs better with a lot of people on screen.

WOW looks better if you have no eyeballs and are playing the blind person version of the game where a Blizzard fanboy describes the on-screen action to you.

Very glad I got to try this before deciding to preorder. Will not be preordering after my time with the game.

Very bland graphics, combat animation is stiff and everything is just very generic overall. I completely agree with the comment about this game going nowhere without having the Star Wars name. Performance is also just bad, and I have a PC that runs Witcher 2 maxed out.

If TERA Online will ever come the fuck, I will definitely jump back on that. It was easily the most impressive next-gen MMO I've played to date.

That being said, I will continue to wait for Guild Wars 2 as the big gun, next MMO to play. I tried to give this one a fair chance, but it just doesn't have any magic to it, imho.

Monster Hunter does it better anyway. And WoW looks like shit. EQ2 looks better than that. But it's all down to the artistic style of the games.

It isn't a game to write home about graphically that's for sure, and it is rather bland looking overall from what I've played in the past beta I got into. I actually didn't care for the animations neither. But I guess it gets the job done, and if the combat is as good as people say it is now, and the content is up to snuff, it can easily replace other MMOs as people's "go-to" still.

I may try a Smuggler here later today.. Gonna continue with my Consular for a little bit more.

That's what I wanted to try myself. A smuggler and go dark with it. I guess I'll find out whenever my account is privileged enough to beta test this weekend.

Where's it located and what do I change?

Oh, thought you were asking which was better!

I do this:

"client_settings.ini" file located in your users\____\appdata\local\swtor\ etc folder

AntiAliasingLevel = 2
enableadvenvirolighting = true
DebugAdvEnviroLighting = true

I get about 140fps in WoW on Ultra settings with 16x Anisotropic. And it looks better than TOR.

Such a fanboy.

Old ass system specs: Q6600 OC @ 3.2 ghz, 8 gigs, 1600 mhz ram, 560ti gpu, and an old ass wd cavier blue. 60 FPS.

This game looks great, though yes, in some areas it does look plain - but WoW looks like ass almost everywhere save for the newer zones.

This game look awful, seriously i think Jedi Outcast looked better than this.
Even 2x2 OGSSAA didnt help at all.
Game run quite well 100+ [should 500+ with this graphics] without ogssaa in 1280x1024 [max settings] and 50-60 with ogssaa [2560x2048].

Finished Hutta on my IA. Fucking love the game, there's a few pretty huge bugs they need to iron out for release but that's to be expected.

I thought most of the encounters on Hutta were pretty finely tuned apart from one story enemy who had a bit too much HP, me and the first IA companion breezed through the 'heroic' areas. Liked the story, loved the few 'be a badarse' moments. Hutta's definitely not a pretty place but once on the Starfleet and Dromund Kaas my mind changed, game looks fine. After rebooting the game my performance seemed to improve too, don't quite hit 60fps, about 55 in open areas with not a lot going on, drops to 20-30 when entering a new area (like the Starfleet/port) but eventually stabilizes.

IA plays really well, I was a bit confused at first as it seemed cover was incredibly sparse but eventually clicked that it only shows where you can take cover when you target an enemy. Durrrrr. Questing is straight forward, no cool mechanics yet but as basic questing goes it's decent fare. Will try out the first instance when I get back from the football tomorrow, can't wait.

Baffled by a mention above to the 'stiff' animations. Quite impressed by them, myself.

Biggest complaint is companion pathing though. Took about 5 minutes just to get her on an elevator, got to be fixed before release, absolute pain in the arse. Oh and they need to shut Mako the fuck up. I hear her more (even when I cannot fucking see her) more than I hear my own companion, it's ridiculous.

And another thing that impressed me, ended up playing on a NA server and only had 150ms latency. Until VERY recently I used to get that on European WoW servers. Hopefully my connection to EU SWTOR servers will be even better.

This whole password and security setup has been more of a pain in the ass than I've ever had to deal with.

A couple of weeks ago, it reset everything, I had to come up with a new password, but I had to enter my old password first and it wouldn't recognize it. Once I finally figured it out, then they had me pick 5 security questions to answer. I finally get to where I can try this game out for the first time today, and it won't let me in until I tell them the last name of my favorite actor. I never even answered that as one of my security questions to start with. I don't have a favorite actor. How can I answer a question I don't have an answer for? I tried to call the toll free number, but they said all their agents are busy, call back later, and they hung up on me.

Wow what a difference in performance/visuals this made. I wonder why my FPS went up
