I'm really enjoying this game. I don't give a shit about VA, cutscenes and the story but i gotta admit it is cool to see a multiplayer cutscene. The first dungeon/instance thingy was enjoyable enough that i am now thinking about getting this game. I always buy mmos knowing that i'm going to enjoy the first month and never gonna pay for the sub. I did this with rift and dcuo and i think i'm going to do this with this one too.

I'm starting to get paranoid. Jedis everywhere. I think they follow me and want me to go crazy and join the glowsticks, but it ain't working!

I'm seeing a pretty nice balance between 3 of the classes on my Trooper but the Consular's seem to be very rare.

I thought I wouldn't, but I'm rather enjoying being a sith juggernaut.

The companion makes it waaaay better to be a leveling tank.

I don't think I have ever seen a Jedi Shadow, which I find rather odd. They Empire version at least exists in Warzones.

A quick /who check showed me that at least Scoundrel and Vanguard seem to be rather unpopular at least on the server I currently play on. That's imo not that surprising though.

Ok,not to many will do this but I can now confirm that you can play the game in French or English, and probably Spanish as well, and switch back and forth at anytime, once the additional language assets have been downloaded once, which is 5 GB more...I will be able to play the game with my friend,on the Euro servers with the game completly in French and disconnect, switch over to the NA servers and play the game in English here.

The only problem I have still is that I cannot play my level 9 Trooper from 2 weeks ago,I a;ways get stuck on the prologue,The Republic Trooper screen and have CTRL alt del out of the game...oh well,I don't want to leave the starting area's anyway with any of the guys I make this weekend, want to keep that fresh for the launch.

Still not sure what class/alignment I'll be going at launch. Bounty Hunter has been fun, and being a total dick has been fun as well, but I kind of feel bad because Mako hates me. :p

The talent trees in this game seem incredibly boring. There's almost no flavor to them, and the bonuses they give seem often spread out over all the trees (for example, all trees for my PowerTech have +fire damage talents).

I really enjoyed the Bounty Hunter storyline. It's a shame their skills are so all over the place. There's no sense of cohesiveness. They have far too many damage skills.

Although I didn't play him as long, my Sith Warrior seemed to have a better blend of skills.

Yea I don't see how they are supposed to be tanks with their one build when lot of the trees seem focused on damage dealing.

I've leveled up a second character to level 11. This time it was an Imperial Agent - Sniper. I found the leveling curve much smoother for this character then I did for my Sith Assassin. Your companion given to you instead of having to trudge though some fairly tough mobs to get him as I did with my Assassin. Imperial Agent story was good but I think I liked the SI one a bit more, voice acting was good.

The cover mechanic is meh, it works, it was okay but again getting into cover and then initiating an ability seemed to take too much time on most of the trash type mobs during the Black Talon flashpoint, it did work well though for those tougher, longer lasting battles. I felt like my damage was okay, I love the feel of throwing grenades. I was teamed up with an operative, a Sith Assassin and a Sith Sorcerer. The Sorcerer was quite strong.

In general chat at the starting area I was hearing a lot of love for the BH but didn't want to try one due to probably playing a commando if I decide to pick it up.

I tried out some PVP, for me playing a ranged character helped a lot, we still lost but I had a much better time. The cover mechanic again here I think will cause a problem. My main strategy was to let the force users engage in close combat and then get into cover and burn down the weaker enemies, it worked but I'm guessing as soon as PVP starts to mature cover will become a problem. I think if you want to play a ranged character you would be better of with a more mobile ranged character like BH or Sorc.

Three days ago I had no plan to get this game, now I'm about ready to pull the trigger. For me its the story aspect, if they were to keep it up through the entire level progression I think it would work for me.

Played BH to 12 and my Mako adores me. She seems to like a character that is a professional bounty hunter, all about the credits but isn't overly arrogant. $$ is the key to her happiness haha.

That is strange you liked SI over IA. General consensus is that IA has one of the best story lines in game.

I was doing the mission to catch another bounty hunter, using his target as bait. After I got him, I then suggested that there was still a bounty on the target, and killed her. That lost major points with Mako. I then told her if she didn't stop whining she'd be next. Later on, she was crying about her dead boyfriend, and I told her to "get over it". And yet, she's still as loyal as ever. :)

Honestly it was very close, it might have been that the IA was my second run through a newbie area in two days. I was also playing the IA as a light side vs the SI who I played as a complete and total brutal ass. Both were excellent though.

I finally got it to work today, but I had to decrease the text size to default for my PC to get the game to load, and now it is unreadable in game. Is there anyway to increase the text ingame?

I'm torn on whether I should still play BH at launch. I loved it up to 12 but their talents don't look the greatest for diversity. Trying SI now, will see how I get on with it.

I'm experiencing some fun with the game but I'm wondering what they spent the majority of the budget on. VA? The lack of races and character customization is strange. In this day and age, you would think they would have not only taken advantage of the SW universe (re: race options) but also added plenty of customization options (scaling instead of 10 options).

Loving the story aspect though and the questing has still been great even though it's kill x and collect y so far. The worlds look nice for the art style they selected. I think having a good sci-fi MMO is going to be what gets them far anyway.

Graphics are also not bad but not great. For a 2011-12 game, I wonder how long it'll hold up. Playing a Twi'lek Consular and my light saber is sticking through my head. This is the most jarring thing I've seen yet. When will companies get to the point where this is an issue to them? I see it in too many games this gen.

Overall, I think I'll be picking this game up. It'll last me a few months for sure.

Edit: Also, the mirrored classes is bothersome. They couldn't come up with enough unique class abilities to make each side stand out?

So I can't log on or download the game with the client. It keeps telling me that I still additional activation steps and have to finalize verification for the account. When I go online it keeps asking me to select my security questions , then log in again, continuously and I can do nothing else.

You do know that Blizzard tried unique abilities for different faction Priest's in WoW?
They ended up first giving some for both factions and finally abolished the notion completly. Paladin and Shaman were given to both factions as well.

TOR won't have different abilities for different factions. You make unique abilities, everyone is crying that they need the other ability as well and theorycrafters end up proving one ability is more useful than the other...

EDIT as for the graphics, WoW looks (well, the newer zones do anyway) pretty nice (IMO) still. Cartoonish style ages better and lasts longer. I like the graphics a lot, have liked them since the first images (which, BTW, look a lot worse than current graphics).
EDIT2 as for the "lightsaber" stickking through the lekku... it's a vibroblade and you won't have the issue once you get your lightsaber as that hangs from the belt. I'm amazed twi'leks are even playable species due the lekkus and them causing clipping issues...

One is basically a WoW Rogue and the other is a Shaman without the totems and enhancement. Hard to compare the two.

I often wonder if we're playing the same game...Shaman really?

Has anyone tried both chains of the Consular yet?

What is better? Shadow or Sage? Is Sage faster DPS output then the Shadow?

Your question is like what's better - Rogue or Mage. It's going to come down to preference. Shadow is a mostly melee class with stealth that can spec into tanking or DPS. Sage is a long rangeccaster, who can spec into healing or DPS.

Which sounds like it'd be more fun for you?

Level 26 Trooper now, and cemented that I will play this game. Don't know for how many months, but I'll dabble in it regardless.

You get a very, very fun Companion after Nas Shaddaa or w/e the planets name.

GAF i need your consencus...

I played the beta on and off a bit this weekend (i played WoW for 6 years btw).
I was not really impressed of what i've seen so far, but i remember that the first 10 levels of WoW were very boring. Does the game get better when you leave the first planet?

I dont really want to play to much, but i want to know if i should cancel my preorder or not.

I think it does get better because the combat is more interesting when you have more abilities at your disposal. I was very meh on the game when I first entered beta myself b/c I had so few buttons to press in those early levels, but it grew on me as I leveled up and learned more skills that had synergy with each other. Also, you might try a different class. They all play quite differently from each other. I suggest Bounty Hunter if you haven't tried it.

That said, if you're not particularly interested in the game after those 10 levels, I wouldn't force myself to try to like it. If it's not grabbing you, it's not going to change drastically in the upcoming levels. It will still be similar.

it was kinda fun for me the first 20 levels and then a lot more fun 20+ played as sage

And you don't have to do any of that. Not to mention any grouping in the game doesn't use companions. They are mostly a tool for soloing and story purposes.

I don't have to use my pet if I'm a hunter or a warlock either, but it breaks the game not to.

Most all of the solo content will be designed with the assumption that I'm operating with a companion, so I'm going to be hamstringing myself not to use companions.

But I really don't want to deal with managing them, giving a shit about their affection, giving them gear, leveling their skills and abilities, etc....

Companions are mostly smart enough w/o having to be micromanaged if you really don't want to. You don't level their skills - they gain them automatically. You don't have to care about their affection unless you want to do their personal quests. As for gear, some quests reward gear specifically for them automatically, so just pick the stuff that's most useful for the companion you use. Only one or two of the companions will be really relevant to your Advanced Class and spec.

It's really not a big deal... I find that they give you the flexibility to play in whatever type of spec you want, not just solely DPS, while soloing. I think they're Bioware's most innovative feature in this game.

You don't have to level their skills or abilities.

Main thing you have to worry about is gearing them.

This account management system is ridiculous.

Was all ready to sign in for the beta. Got one of those fucking security questions, being something stupid like "favorite restaurant," forgot what exactly the answer was. Got locked out of my account for so many incorrect answers. Couldn't get the account back up and running in order to accept the beta invite in time, because they wer so swamped with calls from people having trouble with their fucking asinine login system.

Fuck Bioware

When there's absolutely zero indication that their login system will deviate from every single other login system and demand their answers just for logging in, not for changing passwords? When they only offer terrible options like "favorite restaurant," which can have many plausible answers as a security question? When they fail to hire enough customer service representatives to deal with the fallout of adopting such a shitty system?

Yeah, actually, it is Bioware's fault. They gave no indication they were deviating from industry standards when they set this up. Shitty customer service.

So there were like 20+ questions and you picked shitty ones you can't remember? You only have to answer the question if it's first time playing the game on the computer (or it's the first time logging in since setting the questions). It's not like you need to do it every time.

I had to do it every single time I logged into my account. It could possibly be because my internet's been odd and likes to assign new IP addresses to me randomly. Either way, the system's asinine.

And all of the 20+ questions were crappy.

I know for a fact I'm not the only one having this problem. First time I called in to customer support, I got a message saying that the ONLY class they were accepting were calls related to the secret questions. I waited on hold for 40 minutes before hanging up. Calling every few hours over the weekend, I get told that the customer service lines are swamped and I can't even get into a queue.

Keep apologizing for your corporate masters' shitty service, but don't expect me to thank them for it.

It's not Bioware's fault you can't remember the answer to a question.

It IS Bioware's fault for making such answers that are normally unimportant required for accessing an account, their fault for choosing questions that are significantly worse than most other services that use this method of security, and especially their fault for not having enough customer service representatives on hand to deal with the fallout of adopting such a system.

Screenshot your answers next time.

Seriously, who the fuck does this? I've signed up for dozens of services and I don't think I've had to use a secret question service more than once. When I did, it was for some question that was obvious to myself in a question that unambiguously had one correct answer. And it was for something that required additional security, not just for accessing my damn account.

A system that requires you to know 10+ passwords in order to access your account instead of one is incredibly user unfriendly, obtuse, and shows just how over their heads Bioware are in trying to make this MMO thing work.

lol...

The Bioware Secret Question list had like 30-35 questions to choose from. You chose shitty ones so this is your own fault.

EDIT: 10+.. BS. It was like 3-5 secret questions you had to choose. Quit trying to make it sound like it is 50x worse.

Good lord, man. Learn some personal responsibility. You forgot your security answer - a feature that is in nearly 100 percent of online interactions, including games. This is not a new technology, nor is it one exclusive to BioWare. You messed this up.

I wouldn't be bitching if Bioware were using the technology in the customarily used way that 100% of online interactions used. The risk I assumed when carelessly filling out the security questions was that, if I forgot my password, I'd either have my account unrecoverable or have to spend some time on the phone with customer service to fix it. I did not assume the risk of having my account be rendered entirely unaccessible from word one.

Having to answer a security question to access an account is not in 100% of online interactions. It is in fact in 0% of online interactions, and for good reason. This is, so far as I know, entirely exclusive to Bioware. What's worse, Bioware gave absolutely no indiciation that they were changing the customary use of such questions, and that they would be needed to access the account from the first login. That's terrible customer service.

I forgot the answer to my question so I called up their support. Sure it took me like 45 mins to wait but once I got on the phone with them, they gave me my answer and kept them on the line to be sure I had my questions set up. I don't see how any of the questions YOU input could be BioWare's fault. Talk about funny. lol

so when they asked you to use security questions for you account YOU WEREN'T PAYING ATTENTION WHEN YOU FILLED THEM OUT?

and are now blaming bioware because you can't access your account?
