So in the last week or so I have finally gotten into Starcraft2 multi.

I jumped in without any real A.I. matches and got swamped in the placement matches putting me in the bronze league where I belong. lol

20 or so matches in and I have gotten the hang of a lot of stuff and found myself winning some games last night pretty handily. It was overall a bad night though because of the abundance of drops. I wonder if it's because I am playing the NA version from Japan. When it worked things were beautiful but at least half the matches people were dropping. Starting to work my way up finally though.

The biggest thing holding me back is learning how to hotkey. I remember it being second nature in high school when I played BW, but that was a long time ago.

Any good tips on useful hotkeys? Is there a good guide on setting some up? I browsed the liquid wiki a bit at work but couldn't find much.

Try and use 1,2,3 for army - 4-7 production.

Ctrl + # to create
Shift + # to add selected units

So, I was skeptical at first, but I've been completely won over. I've now completely changed my PvZ strategy over to the GuineaPig style. So far I'm 3:3 W:L with it; but more importantly the losses were all to early aggression that looked like I could have held it once I get the details worked out. Even if it's only been 3 games so far, every game that has gone into the mid game for a bit I've won. I really think something like this style will be the future of PvZ, not the ground based pressure builds that are the standard at the moment. With this, at least at my level, it seems you can go toe to toe with a Zerg in a pure macro game without being at a disadvantage.

From my most recent game:

PANDA STYLE.

You wanted to add them to the standard Protoss style, which I'm still completely against, a warpgate unit mix plus Voidrays is terrible. In the GuineaPig style game though, I don't make a single gateway unit, and rely on cannons to defend early game and then move to an army made entirely of Voidrays and Colloxen/Phoenix's, depending on if the zerg responds with air or ground. Everyone knows that such an army would be stupidly powerful, but we all thought we had to rely on Gateway units anyways or just die.

Alright, a proper counter for this is to drone up, double/triple expand with all gas, use 1-2 overseers to slow down your robo/star facilities entirely, and pump out mutalisks from 3base at least with 6 gas -> you CANNOT outproduce it. No way in hell.

Edit: Btw, I do not want to sound rude, so sorry if you take it personally, but "turtling up behind cannons and seeecretly massing voids" is not "GuineaPig style", it is mid-bronze/silver style...

What makes you think anything is secret? And triple expanding is not a proper counter, you'd be too far behind army wise to stop expansions from getting sniped. And 3 base worth of muta production is not to much to handle, turns out phoenix's are really good vs mutas. :p

Trust me, I had all the same reservations that you did, but so far they're really not panning out in the games I've played. I'm playing this against 2k diamond zergs, not bronze newbies. The ones that have tried responses to take it into a macro game failed miserably, the ones that didn't were the early aggressive zergs.

edit: Junwi lost to this sort of style double expanding, leenock beat it 6 pooling.

Are you EU btw? I would love to play a few games against that style :D
(And I would bring back my Zerg) : D

Vaporak you did win the match but I really dislike that zerg. He seems to be strong enough mechanically for ~2000 diamond however he doesnt scout at all. Like really bad not scouting. He just follows a BO and does it without taking into account what may be happening from the other player.

He definitely scouted a bit late, but he did scout the double stargate and got extra queens, hydras, and a quick third. What do you think he should have done differently besides drone more?

You totally said to do a 3 gate pressure -> expand -> double stargate! The not die part is where you get the gateway units. :p

fuck the game right now.
just got gate rush twice and couldn't do shit about it.
destroyed the pylon but he just built another one, then put up to bunker after hard time of microing scv to to built because he finished his first zealot but it he kept harassing the places i couldn't reach with bunker. so i built another bunker but he got his stalker so it was worse and i lost some scv.
then he fucking followed it with dt rush which destroyed my economy while i was building a tower while he was building his second base.
fuck this shit.

edit : just so the reply, should've all in with marines and scv after i destroyed the gate.

The cycle returns. Start once used in beta, is back! :p

I can only repeat myself: you just gotta sacrifice 2-3 workers's mineral production for a while until you make sure there is nothing inside your main with a working pylon. That GSL match was the showcase of epic fail. Rain scouted it, and did not adjust his strategy at all.
Gas? No 2nd barracks? Only one bunker? And more importantly: Orbital? No way.

Scouting a little late is an understatment and he did drone up and take a third. He did absolutely everything without knowledge. He didnt get speed he just went straight for roach.

Corruptors are cost efficient against void rays, phoenixes and, obviously, colossi, so it's hard to see how that strategy could possibly work even if you manage to stay alive. Well, obviously if zerg does nothing until you've a 200/200 ball of void rays, you'll win but that's just silly.

done that, he just threw another pylon and by hat time his first zealot just popped out.
his gate was halfway done because i was scouting the natural ( jungle fucking basin ) so i couldn't see it, plus his first pylon was low ground.
i will return to old scouting method, scouting my base before even building my first supply depot which worked like a charm when i was in silver league. :lol

I thought corruptors/mutas would be the right response to, and that's what one of the zergs did, and I still won the air battle with units to spare. I had to stay near my cannons at first, but eventually beat his air force in a straight up fight. I think voidrays just scale into really large numbers well because the way it attacks avoids wasting damage compared to the corruptor.

Playxp tourney is continuing today, some results

July lost to a 2.2k protoss
Tester lost to Maka
Rain lost to SiriusfOu
Luffy lost to some startale terran

Haypro won both of his matches today, including one against 3.1k zerg (티에스엘예쁜이), not bad. Unfortunately he'll play TheWind next week and if he wins that, likely MVP. Reminder that even if he somehow beats both, he'll only qualify for the offline tournament that'll still have 32 players remaining.

Huk won his matches and plays RyungPrime next
Jinro lost his second match so he is out
Ret still to play his second match

I did some testing earlier and corruptors were winning every time against even a large number of void rays as long as the upgrades were reasonable and they used their corruption ability. They lose if they are limited by supply (200/200 void rays costs more than 200/200 corruptors) or void rays are somehow precharged, but that's not possible with that many void rays.

Amusingly for all the TSL members left, theres 1 team kill, 1 lost (tester) and another lost to liquid haypro and another plays liquid jinro. could be a very bad day.

they had FD in teh list of invites but i've not seen him in the rounds? I assume he gets shuffled in later? heh, either way wish it was streamed

When does the new season start? I have almost 1000 Bonus Points saved up and dropped from 2nd in my division to 33rd after months of not playing. I might try just playing through my Bonus Pool to see how high I can get before the end.
