Zerg isn't letting me SVC scout anymore. =P
I lost twice last night to the same guy doing the same thing. He goes early(ish) 1 gas, spawning pool, no FE because i drop a manner bay, then spawns zerglings to kill my scout then immediately drops a roach warren. By the time I'm able to build a barracks and float it over its already too late to react to roaches. I guess I could either pull my SVC scout out before he makes lings and then start the barracks that much sooner, or I could just drop a scan.

hard to interpret 1 gas though, it could be roaches, or banelings, or even mutas.

I genuinely think Protoss has the most balanced matches with T and Z, not perfect sure, but good enough to afford every race a chance to legitimately win the game with good play. Also this "Toss is OP late game" nonsense, firstly while i dont believe it to be true that Toss is unbeatable late game I dont think its inherently a problem if Toss did have a reasonably good advantage. If we are assessing states of the game then Terran has a sizeable advantage early v Z and P, enough options to harass and prevent scouting, as well as timing pushes, to put them into an advantageous position midgame. If a Protoss or Zerg gets to the late game on equal or better footing I think personally the Terran has failed to take advantage of their early game options and thus should be punished by Lava production/Warp In and P's Good High Tech options.

I dont think a balanced game necessarily has to be 50/50 early 50/50 mid and 50/50 late, moreso i think such a game is slightly boring to play.

I cant watch tournament streams, just doesnt do it for me, I love high level ladder streams with people who commentate, great to have on in the background while i game (not sc2, ive lost more than a few games of sc2 hearing streams where dt's or some shit show up and i freak out)

I check out the non featured streams every now and then, and have found a gem or two, but by and large they seem to be populated by a combination of

Very bad (which is fine but not something i can watch)
Very loud music
Zerg (I Swear 99% of tl.net streams are zerg)

Best streams imo

Combat-ex (Guilty pleasure, he cheeses 99% of his games nd the reacions are funny, hes 3k aswell)
-Orb- (self explanatory)
Spades
Lz (Favourite but he seems to have stopped, streamer who got me itno it in the beta)
TT1 (Infrequent)
Hashe (Less so of late, but when he first started streaming he was complete boss, he did some freaky timing pushes with 2scvs/2 marines and with sick micro could win games)
Catz (Good for a zerg stream)
NYD (Possibly one of the best protosses to learn from, talks like a beast, 3.1k, loves using single voids in early pushes with immortal/stalker backup, great micro)
Minigun (Perhaps the most consistent and baller Protoss ive seen, on sc2ranks as inflowmini, 3.4k, solid, never cheeses, never talks , but unbelivable calm, control and precision)
Gretorp (Used to be great, never streams anymore)
SteveBonelle (Pure entertainment)

100000% better than SC1 ever was for a shit player like myself.

The match making system is excellent you will be placed against players as good as you (and better to test you) but don't worry if you don't even know the basics, you should be good.

but if you are finding it a bit of trouble (i'm talking have no prior knowledge on how to play) don't be afraid to ask (i'm not sure of your level!)

I'd say the matchmaking is extremely good and consistently gives close games regardless of your skill level. You have to go through 5 placement matches that might be a bit brutal if you're a new player, but after that it does a good job matching you up with people close to your own skill range. You also get the option to play through a maximum of 50 practice matches that aren't ranked, where the gamespeed is slowed way down and obstacles have been added to prevent super early rushes. It doesn't match the feel of the game at full speed on a normal map, but it's good for just getting over the initial 'omg I'm playing against other people' feeling.

The only thing about the ladder some grumble about is that a lot of it runs of an internal ranking that it doesn't tell you. According to Blizzard this is mostly because the internal ranking for a person is actually a couple of numbers that aren't completely obvious in their meaning. In practice, if you're not a top level player your league placement (bronze, silver, gold, platinum, diamond) has turned out to be a reasonable indication of skill level.
