i cant believe that yoshi is not a joke character. from the first keyboard smashing incident, till now, i read his posts as fan fiction

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Wow, I'm still clueless in what to do. I'm literally just sitting here infront of the computer doing absolutely nothing. I need to talk to someone right now but it's night time. I'm literally drenched in sweat and anger right now, I feel like breaking lots and lots of shit.

Yoshi, you seem to have a habit of taking everything TOO seriously. Seriously now, it is fine to chill out and never meet your idols, even if you kinda want it. That is not something everyone gets, but that does not make us lesser human beings.

Also, you do not need miracles to keep playing this fucking FANTASTIC game. You just...play. Sometimes, being less enthusiastic about something is better than being overly enthusiastic. That I think is the lesson of this week's episode.

Plus it's not like this is his last chance to attend Dreamhack, I'm sure MarineKing will have more opportunities to take part in foreign tournaments. His consistent play means that he'll likely stay relevant in the Starcraft 2 scene for a long time.

Appearantly, he is not interested in us anymore :(

Quitting that garbage SCII game and will be starting SSFIV AE full time again. Let's see how long this lasts.

I don't quite understand your obsession with MKP but I think you should go to Dreamhack anyways. Live events are really fucking fun. MKP won't be there, but a massive amount of top players will. Any time you felt excitement watching a game (probably other than mkp) in GSL is going to be intensely magnified by the audience there. You've already paid for the ticket, you might as well go anyways!

I stopped playing Street Fighter because playing online was so frustrating. Playing SC2 is relaxing compared to SF4. I hope he doesn't get too salty playing AE. Plus, sticks are much more expensive than keyboards. :(

Isn't the fighting game scene way more hardcore than us? :lol
I'd say so. There's much more parity in SC2.

I practice and play both on a semi-casual level, and they are on a same level. SC puts more emphasis on strategy and planning, while SF is more about your reflexes and precision. Both gives me useful skills at the end of the day, for some weird reasons.

Yoshichan, don't leave us, I <3 you and your contribution to our little community! Come play NA with us?

And not to belittle the previous comment, because I did mean it, but what is today's Funday Monday theme?

And on a fucked up note, I just had to deal with a Mormon commercial before catching up on the semifinals of the Super Tournament.

How old is Yoshi? That's quite the overly dramatic response to something that doesn't really have a direct effect on his life. I don't mean to come off as a jerk by any means, but he may need to take a step back and reevaluate things a bit.

Since I'm a big sports fan I'll try to relate:

If I bought front row seats to a basketball game where my favorite basketball player would be, and he ended up getting injured or was sick, I'd still go and enjoy/appreciate the other athletes there. It would still be a fun experience.

Corran Horn

May the Schwartz be with you
Basketball is a common occurrence though. You get...70+ games a year, good chance he comes back again. I would be upset if Jordan was playing his last games and he did not show up to the game I went. MKP might never come to Dreamhack again or around that area...shrug.

SC2 matches are a common occurrence as well. The thing that isn't the common occurrence is the act of attending the event.

Alright then, if it was the NBA finals and my favorite player was injured and didn't show up: That's still a once in a lifetime thing. I wouldn't miss it. It would still be fun to go to. That's true for both cases I think.

The sports analogy is terrible because you are paying to watch a display of skill that is manifested in the physical world. In e-sports, the player might as well be watching a replay and it would be the exact same shit. The only reason a person might care would be so they can later say "omgz i saw MKP in person" which is prety god dam silly ..

but hey, one year from now you'll prob be watching MKP and realize how foolish you used to be, so cheer up

I completely agree. When you see the crowd at mlg cheering and shouting during the games you can see in their eyes "this is totally like watching a replay at home".

I calm my nerves down by watching 3:10 to Yuma and then I get back to read this terrible discussion going on right now. Simply fucking terrible.

If some of you would actually read, you'd know that I spent lots of time and money preparing the stuff for the trip. More than half the shit I've done was dedicated solely for Foxer. It's just a shame, considering that's what I was looking forward too the most.

Another thing that's been bothering me was the fact that MMA vs Foxer was painful to watch as I had to "cheer" for MMA.
As soon as 2-0 hit, I was already then planning on canceling my trip to DH. When MMA managed to win 3-2, it was such a relief but also fucking painful to watch (as every other GSL Foxer loses).
It was all fine though, because now I'd get to meet him in DH. Then this bullshit news appears on my screen just hours after the fucked up match. It's just bad.

Also, since you guys are doing stupid sports analogy for this whole thing, I might as well put this as an example; Lady Gaga is going to perform. I buy the concert tickets, the flight tickets, the fan-shit I've prepared and I take 4 weeks to mentally prepare myself. Five days before the actual live performance, she announces that she's sick but "everything is fine" - because she says her dancers and the playback music will still be there. Should I still be as hyped for the concert?

Sounds stupid? Of course! Just as stupid as Dreamhack is for me, right now.

edit: I've learned my lesson though. Don't worry, GAF. I'm not going to prepare shit for the next time I'll be going to something SC2-related. It's just not worth it since e-sports is still in a very amateur-state and far behind every entertainment you can get on this planet.

edit 2: I've been in the hardcore fighting community for my entire life so returning back to it is not hard. Don't worry.

edit 3: I still ♥ you Awesome Animals.

i meant the player who is playing; to the spectator he is just there, immobile, behind a PC. Hes playing a game, but one could imagine him watching a replay instead; same shitfrom Yoshis point of view. Although apparently Yoshi would prob fap furiously to Foxer watching a replay or looking at a youtube video or something, so this is kind of a different case altogether (unhealthy obsession) .. This shit really isn't worth elaborating on...

Bad comparison. If anything it would be more like a musical event like say Osheaga. There are a bunch of artists, your favorite can't attend last minute and you don't care about the other artists. Can you still have a good time? Yes. Because you can discover new artists and such.

Same thing now, you seemed to still play SC2 even before you discovered MKP. You can still discover other players and such.

But seems like arguing for you to still go is futile.

I was playing the shitty toss and zerg race and hated it. I "discovered" terran and how fun the game/community is when I saw Foxer.

What is there to discover? I know and respect every person who's in the DH tournament right now. Paying the extra cash just to "be there" is out of the question for me. Besides, my obvious "obsession" with him would probably result in me just having an extremely bad time if I go there.

Yeah, that does sound stupid because firstly, that wouldn't happen, and secondly, it's not called MKP-Hack. A concert is for that one specific artist. Dreamhack is for a collection of different players. It doesn't revolve around one person like a concert for Lady Gaga would.

This whole conversation is dumb I know. Especially because as hard as we try, no one example will perfectly line up with what we are talking about.

I'm sorry you are taking this so horribly, Yoshi. I'm not familiar with you, so I haven't read your previous posts about becoming excited/preparing for this event, but I was just trying to say that you should still go to the event. You may regret it later if you decide to bail on it. I'm sure you would still enjoy it. I know I would.

I didn't mean to prolong this stupid conversation any longer, but I wanted to get one reply in and at least try to tell Yoshi that he might regret not going.

There we go. That example sums it up better.

well, we can't have it all.
thorzain fighting !!
It makes the most sense considering every other team has a full roster but fox only has Lyn & Moon

Comparing Lady Gaga/a concert to seeing some dude play videogames live? I'm all for esports, hell I'd attend an MLG for instance if I could, but...yea. I don't get this bro

Actually, he should be. The MLG thing said the Code S spot was for anyone not in Code S. I find it strange that we haven't had confirmation on it yet.

Not for columbus MLG. Only starts on the next one since the next GSL already has it's code S and up down matches lined up.

Is Dreamhack in a vacuum? Is there not an amazing sightseeing tour being possible where it is? ;) Or is IRL overrated, when compared to...what? I would starve for a month to be able to go to somewhere like that, and cant do it. You can and you complain.

Reading these last couple of pages made me really glad that my social life kicked in right before the release of StarCraft. This game is so engrossing it can easily take over a portion of your daily life, especially if you have nothing better to do. It's what I wish for whenever I buy a new game, but always turns out to be a double edged sword.

It's funny how playing this game can leave me angry at gaming in general, and can make me question why I invest in gaming anymore. Then like a yo-yo come back for just one more game, and getting addicted all over again.

I'm both mentally and psychically exhausted with this whole Dreamhack situation. Throughout these past days, I've continuously lost my passion to SCII but one thing's always been in the back of my head; meeting Foxer will restore my appetite again.

With the anticlimactic news that just got released today, I can officially say "fuck everything". My mind, body and my fucking wallet can't take this shit. I give up.
Sad news, but you should go since you already spent the money.

You can hug Nada and sell the shirt later on ebay, pretty sure you can make some good money of that.

Oh boy I haven't been in this thread in a while, I can see it's been a weird combination of tears and lunacy. I continue to laugh out loud.

Lack of motivation to even run Starcraft II.exe draining further...

Down for anyone else? I'm not getting the message that there is maintenance done this morning - it just doesn't connect.

Are the ladders broke? Me and a friend did our 2v2 placements and got placed diamond. I thought you couldn't place any higher than platinum from placement matches. Also, me and him have never been in a league that wasn't bronze. I take it the ladders are broke and we didn't just become awesome players overnight.
