Does anyone else worry about how badly their Starcraft abilities are going to degrade in the near future? There are a scary amount of great games coming out in the next few months and I just wonder where I'm going to find the time to fit Starcraft in.

I'm pretty sure when Dark Souls comes out it's going to touch the demon inside me and my Starcraft skill is going to go to shit.

heh yeah ive barely played in the past few months and i'm way bad now, not that i was great to begin with but i'm having fun in gold as random when i do play.

I do not worry. I enjoy being a bad gold player, after all. Well, or bad platinum, cause I get platinum opponents, and I usually win (EU). But anyways, I will be back in the game for realz once I have the proper free time. Maybe once I see some money from my indie projects in the next year's spring. And in the meantime, Diablo 3 is on the horizon...not to mention other games like SF3:3SO, UMVC3 and Torchlight 2...

Most games I care about in the near future are still Online or Coop games so I don't really care.
Most of the people I will play them with are here, maybe with the exception of Dota but still. I don't see why I cant play SC2 along side with them. If I want to free up some time I just can stop watching every little crappy tournament stream there is.

shame about dark souls being a console game though :(

As much as i hate console gaming, darksouls/demonsouls would be just retarded on PC, like playing batman AA on PC, you're just spamming the x button to open a goddamn vent, smashing the same button over and over again is made for consoles or zerg SZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Yep, I think it's time to cool off on GSL and other streams for a bit; I haven't even bought a ticket for this month's GSL.

Time to actually play the games I buy.

Wow, I use a wired 360 joy for every multiplatform game on PC for years now...

I'm already starting to feel this. But, no matter what happens, I will always be at GAFnight, and I will never stop playing this game.

Dude, do not put words in my mouth. TF2 is not a multiplatform game. It really is only on one platform, on PC.
non-supported shitty ports does NOT matter
.

Besides, I do not even play TF2, and I bought it. Lulz.

i love how you started your argument with batman and ended up with tf2.
as arnold mentioned, there is a lot of poor ports that won't work well with keyboard and mouse and for those kind of games you will need a controller.

I was crying during the last Steam sale when there were several people asking if Bad Company 2 had gamepad support. Blasphemers!

first person games will probably always play better with a keyboard + mouse. But I can't play a multiplatform third person game without a controller, not doing so is simply such a huge annoyance.

All it takes for me is to not play for more than a week for me to feel rusty. It's going to happened and it already happened for me a few times already. This game I will always come back to because I know I have you guys to play a few games to get myself back in the groove. I have noticed that some has lost interested or are distracted by other games/school/life and that's okay.

If you guys stopped playing, I'd probably stop playing Starcraft altogether.

Meh, why would Huk leave TL unless he plans on moving back to the US/Canada. The Ogs/TL house has made him significantly better, plus he's still Code S.

Also the TL thread is hilarious. Now people are arguing over whether a 15k/yr salary is good. If you're a student, sure, but otherwise no. I wonder what a lot of these guys will do once the SC bubble pops.

It's not like TL seemingly gives a crap if a player just chills in North America and doesn't accomplish anything. So I don't see why coming back to NA would be an issue for Huk.

money is good.
he should stay at korea as long as he have code s.

Yoshichan

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
I want the Maiden in Demon's Souls to touch the demon inside me when Dark Souls comes out.

It's not too bad if you don't have to pay for housing. Otherwise it is shit. Also popular streamers make FAR more than 15k/yr.

I think I read this somewhere but apparently Destiny makes 31k+ salary from his stream alone. Not to turn this into a TL thread but I would say that's all right if he didn't have kids and a wife to take care of.

Is that true? I get why Husky and other youtube people make money, but I'm kind of baffled how people make money with justintv, given how few ads I see on Idra and Destiny's streams for instance.

Give me a few minutes to find his Reddit AMA. I believe he talked about it there.

Here we go:

http://www.reddit.com/r/IAmA/commen...i_quit_my_job_to_play_starcraft_2_for/c1ljmu0

"At the moment I make about $3.5/month from the ad revenue I receive, then I make ~$1.5/month from lessons. Hopefully once my youtube channel is partnered I can generate some more money from that. There's also the occasional showmatch win/tourney placing, but those don't generate too much."

I was a professional carpet cleaner. Before that, I worked in a casino for 3 years as a restaurant supervisor. I made about $2k/month from cleaning carpets, but that was working about 60 hours/week. SC2 provides me with way more income at the moment.

I believe he is talking in thousands of dollars.

Also, Destiny is a clear outlier given how much he streams and how many viewers he has.

Destiny said he made 3k a month at one point. I can only imagine it's gone higher now.

Also watching White-Ra is fascinating. His decision making is impeccable and I love the builds he uses, but his attention cycles and micro are granpa levels :D

On his first night streaming after MLG Anaheim, someone was BMing Destiny for his MLG performance and Destiny said that the he makes more in a month from streaming than the MLG 5K prize pool.

huk to eg, idra to korea

http://wellplayed.org/forum/announcements/thread/the-big-reveal-from-team-evil-geniuses

The wait is finally over. After several days of hype and an I Love Bees style ARG, Evil Geniuses has revealed their big news.

Evil Geniuses has acquired Chris "HuK" Loranger from Team Liquid. This highly controversial move was widely rumored to be the case, but EG isn't done there.

In addition to this bombshell of an announcement, EG is also sending Greg "IdrA" Fields back to Korea. Both of these players and perhaps more will live in a brand new EG training house in Korea.

Good that Idra is going back. I feel his skills have waned since he left.

Also that's a pretty badass pic on myeg.net

Also EG are such villains for doing this. <3 them.

lol from the farewell huk post

Despite HuK's departure, I still feel that Liquid is in a very good position. Sheth and HerO are two great additions, TLO is getting back in shape, and Ret is doing amazing.

burn on haypro and tyler

Unless EG gets a partnership with a Korean team not sure how having IdrA and HuK in Korea matters, IdrA didn't have anyone to practice with before and HuK only got good due to the oGs house.

Yep. I see this as a downgrade for HuK in terms of practice environment, so EG probably gave him bags full of money to make up for it. Big improvement for Idra though since he now has a top Protoss and Terran to practice against.

Idra going back to Korea? Haven't we seen enough foreign players get kicked out of Code A lately?

/troll

Wonder who else will be in that EG house. Huk and Idra playing each other for hours will end in a tragedy one way or the other.
