I don't think you can call it saved.

That was taken earlier today... theres only one GRID room now with 3 people in it.

I've wondered from time to time about having semi-regular GAF meetups in games that are starving for interest, to at least allow some multiplayer stuff to happen. A sort of "mp book club" thing.

Well, it's Frozen Synapse for sure. Don't forget, you are getting 2 copies of game for such a price.

But I can get more if I purchase less!

Also can I buy two copies of the same game in Impulse?

I finally tested that new thing Valve's using for trailers only right now and my normal speed went from 1.1 or 1.2 to 2.2mb/s. It wasn't 100% stable and didn't stay over 2 the whole time but I'm guessing they're ironing kinks out still.

Really looking forward to when they roll it out for everything.

It's steamworks, so yeah! and people said that you can get the code directly from the site, without the need to download impulse.

Still can't decide whether to get it or not.
Yes... I bought Magicka, and cd-key works on Steam... but i had to download and install impulse to get the key...

Ewww. On the bright side, with their software already installed, Impulse has you primed for your next purchase.

I know this might be classified as bitching, but I have to vent.
Recently, my girlfriend went to a Gamestop and picked up a copy of Supreme Commander 2 for PC. We were both really excited to try it out, but when it came time to input the CD-key into Steam, there was no key to be found. Since its a PC game, Gamestop more than likely will not give us a refund.

I am so pissed.

You're sure it wasn't printed on the front/back page of the manual or something?

Checked multiple times, there is nothing.

Go back to Gamestop and tell them you didn't get a key. They usually take the CD-Keys out of cases on the shelf and put them behind the desk (since it's easy to just open a box and steal the key) and they probably just forgot to put it back in. If they give you any trouble, push over a magazine rack.

Dead Island page is up, I see no price or buy button yet though.

Steam confused me at first, they had a "now available" banner for it, I was wondering why it was released with no reviews, seems it was just badly worded :p

The stuff I saw earlier on Dead Island looked awful but the first trailer makes it look like you'll play a black guy main character. I'll buy it for that alone.

You actually pick a character. It's actually very Borderlands in its loot system and co-op, etc.

WTF is Brainpipe?

It's a small indie game that actually got into the IGF for its audio. In addition to being a PC game, it's also a PSP Mini.

You fly down a tube, collecting runes and avoiding obstacles. It's fun enough as a PSP mini or as a mindless distraction, and the psychadelic look is sort of neat. As a standalone PC game, though, I don't know how worthwhile it would be - the levels are procedurally generated, but you're flying down a tube, so it's not like they change much. I'd recommend it if you want a distraction for a few hours or if you're gaming on a netbook or something, but it's neither a particularly inventive or meaty package.

Based on the trailer, it looks more confusing than the slot machine RPG I played a few months ago...

You know what's funny, a few of us actually do that. We cycle through a bunch of fun MP games we all own and have a great time doing so. I agree with your statement though, would be cool seeing a larger portion of GAF users try it

what are you implying here

I'd say that's really weird, I haven't had that myself with my games... I've had the opposite, cause some games have logged twice as much time. I reckon you haven't taken it with support? I mean, it's a small thing, but hopefully they should have the true stats at hand and could revert to the higher(most likely correct) number at request. Might be a silly thing to request, but if it matters to you, they should honor it.

Ive had much bigger issues with support and at this point i think they'd hate me if i bother them with that. I'll wait till support gets better.

I think I'm gonna like Runespell, Sword & Poker on the iPhone was great and this looks similar.

Just playing through the demo now, have Steam demos always had achievements? I don't remember unlocking any in past demos...

Last time I was at Gamestop, I was trying to figure out how to burn some credit. Looking at the PC games, I noticed that most had the inserts still in them with the cd-keys right there waving hello to any passerby. I'm sure one determined guy could probably scam a few thousand dollars worth of goods in a solid weekend of Gamestop hopping.

Alpha Protocol is $4.99 US on Gamersgate today, so all those who missed out on the Steam sale due to region issues can get it there.

Is it Alpha Protocol or Alpha Prime that gaf loves? I can never remember.

I think Alpha Protocol is either love it or hate it on GAF.

I've barely played the game. :<
It definitely isn't Alpha Prime. that's a budget title FPS.

Alpha Protocol has some very vocal fans. Game left me cold, personally. I have to give it another try sometime.

Next time you'll be called a tiburónsauce or something.

I can safely recommend Alpha Protocol. It's janky, but in a good way I think. And then there's the dialogue system and nonlinear storytelling.

Is there any way to get subtitles on Assassin's Creed 1 on the PC?

I'm trying to do Comfy Couch Gaming on my 24" but anything more than 5 feet from the monitor and I can't see shit and everyone mutters. *Loud explosion cues*

Hmm... dead island 4-pack looks interesting.

Although, I think I'll just wait for a price drop since I'm not itching to play the game any time soon. I did buy Just Cause 2 near launch, only for it to freefall in price... so I think I'll just wait.

Runespell: Overture downloaded. I'll give it a little play time tonight since I think I am extremely close to being finished with Aquaria. So yeah, with that and Chantelise (and after the summer sale hit), I'm swearing off buying games on Steam for a little while, barring any particularity tasty daily deals (like Vampire at 75% off or something).

Tried the Runespell demo, it's certainly interesting but the RPG aspects are pretty weak. No leveling, no gear, no skill trees. Just equippable cards and minions.

It's a lot more like MtG meets Poker, not RPG meets Poker. You get better Cards and Allies as you move on, a lot of counterspells and stuff. I'm still pretty early in the game, but I really like the fact that there's no stupid grind for levels and stuff. Also: Gear? Skill Trees? How would you implement those? You get more health and stuff as it is, I don't really understand how a game like this needs gear or skill trees.
