I wonder if this might be taking it a little far. Not so much on my wallet -- I've gotten better about only getting the stuff that I'm interested in, though that still gives me a big backlog -- but it terms of excitement. Those holiday sales will have games on sale en masse, sure, but the daily deal during them was usually the OMG INSANE WTF highlight. This kills that, as well as a lot of the motivation to obsessively watch the clock during sales, as we'll be used to just having it every day.

For me it´s about getting stuff that I want cheap, not the thrill of the hunt. That´s for finding the right porn vid, err, nevermind.

The thought of games cycling faster through the super saving spot to something I might actually want is super exciting. Looks like I´ll have to check Steam´s storepage everyday now.

thanks for the laugh
someone baptize this with a new thread.

just as certain other dd outlets are running to catch up, steam moves the finishing line another 1500 meters.

Valve probably cares less about your OMG excitement and more about taking your money on a daily basis. If it turns out that it's not as lucrative as doing it the old way, they'll change back. Though it's probably hard to undo an initiative like this. But anyway, they know what they're doing.

I just hope that they don´t start making the daily deals weaker, as in less % saved, to have something left for the OMGsupersalesweeks.

The OMGsupersalesweeks are going to be the bundles me thinks.

Not only Daily Deals

But the Midweek Madness Deals are probably still in play, along with Weekend Deals, and then of course the Summer and Christmas Deals.

So....maybe my direct deposit should just goto Steam's bank account?

Steam Announces Daily Deals!
Announcement - Valve

Starting today, Steam offers a new 24-hour deal, every single day. Look for the deals each day on the front page of Steam.

Can I split my steam games between two different drives and still launch all games from steam?
I just got an SSD for my gaming PC but it can't store all of my games. Any way to store some of the games on the SSD and some on the regular HDD?

yes/no

You can't by default, but if you use NTFS junction points you can. There are a few pieces of software that can handle the automatic creation of them.

Terraria is already the second best selling game on Steam behind The Witcher 2. And that chart is sorted by revenue so it must be pretty damn popular.

Daily deals? Fuck! I will stay strong and not buy any more games until the winter sale! I will stay strong...

Winter? hahaha

I was thinking about holding out until the summer sale. Yeah that won't happen now.

I think I can pass today's sale up since I just bought Arma 2. Is that series radically different from the flashpoint stuff? Is one better than the other?

Welp. Looks like I'll be logging into Steam each and every day now. They really need to create a store app for those times when we're away from the PC. This is a great way to highlight particular titles too. Hopefully the indies get more recognition this way.

Wait, you're telling me there's gonna be a daily deal every day now? Like, it's not just for a week or something but every fucking day till the end of times? :O

Yes, a Daily Deal everyday instead of a Daily Deal every week.

Meh, makes it easier for me to ignore some deals. If there is one every day, I'll just wait to see what they have tomorrow. Not a good move if you ask me, but maybe publisher were asking for it.

Ironically, the end of times is only 5 days away now anyway...

Yeah, I would like to think that these dailies are in addition to the Midweek and Weekend deals, not replacing one of them. In this case, this is unbelievably awesome for people such as myself who leave Steam running even more than a web browser.

I never understood the learning curve thing with EVE. I played the trial 2 years ago and got into a very nice corporation. They really helped and provided me with many resources. I wasn't doing anything huge, but I started having fun until the trial ended.

And ugh daily deals...

So, I bought the SEGA Genesis/MegaDrive collection when it was on sale a few weeks ago. Pretty sure it was all Sega games that were available through Steam, excluding the Sonic games.

How is it possible that I now also own the Sonic games in the Genesis/MD collection ? What happened ? Did they add them later via an update or something ?
