you better buy the FUCK out of Ben There, Dan That! + Time Gentlemen, please!. Two of the funniest games i played in years, and they are only 1.25USD as the daily deal. I made a zombie cow (now Size Five Games, they changed the name last month) thread in the past but it kinda died. A shame, wonderful studio.

bought!

it has a good metacritic score, too.

http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/time-gentlemen-please!

sounds like a good game.

These are easily the funniest adventure games since Lucasarts. It's not even close. I'd like to see them with a decent budget but any adventure stuff is welcome!

Quantum of Solace and James Bond: Blood Stone are on sale for 66% off. Mid-week Madness, I assume. Is either one worth getting?

Perhaps I'll get Quantum of Solace.

On Blood Stone:

I liked this a lot. The driving sequences are gorgeous and the Gears of Bond bits feel tight. The story was boring, but the areas you visit are neat.

On QoS:

Also, anyone curious about Quantum of Solace probably shouldn't buy it. It is locked at 30 fps for no reason, has no pad support and feels like shit because of it (mouse + 30 fps = intolerable).

It's a weird combo of QoS and Casino Royale and the it's just a linear FPS w/ third person cover.

Note that these games are very stupidly priced in Euros and if you want one of these, you should definitely hit up US-gaf.

I just bought two copies of Time Gentlemen Please & the other game for myself and my brother.

I played it when it first came out, bought it of the website but Steam is so damn handy. Would recommend it to anyone. FFS it has Nazi Robot Dinosaurs in it!

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
Which one of the two games (Ben, Time gentleman) came earlier and how long are they?
I already own them, just thinking about when or how to play them.

1) Ben
2) they're not too long. A bit longer than your standard Telltale episode. I guess it depends. The sequel is longer.

Ben first, Time second. No idea how long they'll take. They feel on the short side, as adventure games go, but not too short.

Hmm . . . the various reviews seem to indicate that Blood stone was an OK but short. At a reduced price, a competent but short Bond game sounds good to me, I'll probably get it.

1Up said it was the best Bond since GoldenEye.

Quantum of Solace is tainted by the fact that the Quantum of Solace movie sucked.

So I bought the Overlord pack and I'm getting horrible flickering and missing models? Is there a patch or something out there to remedy this? I'm on ATI if that makes any difference.

Alright damn it, sold by that Hitler screen shot.

EDIT: Which am I supposed to play first, not clear from the store page? EDIT AGAIN: Nevermind, I see above that I go with Ben.

I really enjoyed it in co-op. The magic system is really fun and you have lots of options. The setting and humor is great. The game itself is a bit rough and gets a bit cheap, especially during the later maps. Definitely best played with others.

It just got updated. It now has Player VS Player. I played a few games, 2 vs 2 last man standing was pretty tense :D

I played through QoS on PC, I don't remember the framerate being locked nor any control issues. It looked and played exactly like CoD on PC only with Bondy stuff in it.

Tried to buy Ben there but the paypal window crashed. Now I get this msg "There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance," should I just wait or do I have to contact support?

My memory is better than your memory.

No, it is definitely not ok. The game plays and feels like a poor copy of Splintercell Conviction, where unlike that game, there is no distinctive pacing or 'melee, pick off, proceed' as a central mechanism around which the game is build. Instead, the mechanism is used a kind of getaway mechanism from streams of too aware enemies, who are also bland and predictable.

The game is at its best when it is actually not being the game it is said to be, for instance during action sequences and the quite competent racing sections, which are however turned into routines of frustration by obstructions and timelimits usually resulting in having to it over again after bumping into something. All things combined, the game always feels like it's a set of copied aspects of other games, ducktaped with the James Bond license and sold as a supposedly better game.
The weapons are all 'call of dutyfied' including reflex sights and all, the melee and 'free kill' mechanism is taken from SC: Conviction, the phone and its enemy revealing properties are taken from Batman: Arkham Asylum, leaving only the action and racing 'scenes' as something you could hold in memory.

The game shares its license and a good deal of assets with its Wii 'sibling', but it is completely outmatched and outmanoeuvered by Eurocom's remake of Goldeneye. Which one could downplay as feeding of nostalgia and platform politics, a relative lack of shooters on Wii, some rather repetitive gameplay at times, and so on, but ultimately these cons still leave a competent shooter that is memorable.

Blood Stone, on the other hand, is not. I find it hard to even remember what the fuck the plot even was. Not even motion capture of the actors could prevent that.
Its major problem is that it's a game that wants far too hard to be a movie and fails, quite miserable, at being either game or movie.

Sure, it is fun in a 'I play bad games for fun' way, but that's it really. Buy it cheap, very cheap, but you will not be missing anything worthwhile if you don't. And it is a short game too, btw. No more then six hours or so, if I recall correctly. (then again, the in-game timer of Crysis 2 told me that I had only played for six and a half hours in the campaign as well. At least it is longer than Medal of Honor and Homefront, possible combined as well)

Ultimate Spoiler (you have been warned) about the actual ending:
turns out there was someone else at the wheel the entire time! And he will be revealed, as that is obviously for the next game. SOUND FAMILIAR? (Quantum of Solace)

Latest update – I’ve got BoDVII running on Steam without any install file. What this means is that it will work fine if you already have the XNA prerequisites installed (XNA & .NET redistributables). Otherwise, it won’t. Obviously, this won’t do for many people who could potentially buy our games so if you’re an XNA developer with a Steam game and could send me your the install file you used for your game along with instructions on how to use it or get on IM and walk me through the process, I’d greatly appreciate it. This is the last major hurdle to pass before we can submit our game files to Steam and actually start selling our games. Thank you.
So close...

Somebody have that dude talk to the Terraria guys.

I believe one of the blokes behind Capsized offered to help.

Edit: That was in regards to having the games function correctly with the Steam game installer, though.

Cthulu Saves the World still isn't on steam, can we get that first at least?

CStW and BoDVII will be released as a pack, at the same price as intended for CStW itself.

BTW, an employee of Valve gave some information about the new Content Delivery System:

That's not what it means. It means the content is delivered via the HTTP network protocol rather than a custom protocol. This improves compatibility with various restricted networks with firewalls/proxies (ie, universities, corporate networks, etc). It also makes it easier for proxy/caching functionality to be used by local ISPs and such to cache content nearer to end users without Steam specific custom software. Further, it means it's easier for us to scale network capacity to periods of peak demand by utilizing pay-as-you-go style third party content delivery networks that natively speak HTTP. That's an advantage for us since previously scaling out to peak load (big new game launch, holiday sale, etc) would require us setting up many new custom servers running our custom content server code.

Our existing global network of content servers will still serve as the primary source for content and you'll still use content servers near you when possible.

The compatibility and standardization benefits from using HTTP are just one small benefit of the new content system. More info on other improvements will continue to be released before the new system is used for all new content.

"Time Gentleman Please" took me about 9 hours to finish; no walkthrough or FAQs.
I remember that "Ben There, Dan That" was shorter.

Uploading BoDVII & CSTW to Steam. Hopefully that means we can launch soon. :)

What is the likelihood of the games being available when the Steam Store updates in about 9.5 hours? Feels like I've been waiting a lifetime for CStW.

Edit: Damn you, 'f' key!
