The issue with the Brothers in Arms reboot thing is they were taking an established, serious franchise based on true stories and trying to Tarantino it. Wolfenstein started with Robo-Hitler, so taking the campy route doesn't bother me nearly as much,

I'm considering buying Next Car Game just to spite those stupid people from the steam forums saying putting early access on sale is like screwing early adopters.

I should really stop reading comments there.

Next Car Game is a bit thin on content right now, and the menus are pretty bad in my opinion, but otherwise what they have in the current build is very well done.

While I don't think putting an Early Access game on sale is screwing over early adopters, it just doesn't feel right to me to have a temporary discount on a game that is still under active development.

Some of the more outlandish Playfire tasks seem like they are there to pretty much just catch SAM users because they are frequently very absurd and looking up the people that get them would not be too hard to see if they're honest.

You might be on to something here. One of the recent achievements was to get a straight flush in Poker Night which is virtually impossible. Another one was to get a hole in one in Worms Golf which was easier but still more of a fluke than skill. They seem to choose their achievements in a very haphazard way.

Meanwhile, I'm wondering whether to play through Telltale's Jurassic Park for the Playfire rewards. I hear the game is supposed to be pretty meh but howlongtobeat.com says it's only 6 hours long and it has the same style as the Walking Dead series so how bad can it be?

also the difference in character quality between

animus
FB1A10B3EAD437695AB4142957006EAE03394D37

and real world

is fucked up

i seriously don't get why the quality is so extremely different

desmond looks like a heroine junkie and i don't know what the fuck's going on with becca's face.

i guess even ubi doesn't give a shit about desmond? lol

yea you're perfectly right

as someone that really really likes brothers in arms the tarantino thing was really bad. like a serious "what the fuck is this shit"

for this game i don't find campy to be specially bad, i just don't like it cos it's the type of glorification of violence that i don't appreciate (the one that thinks itself clever and stylized and is indeed crass and simple)

like there's silly and there's this, and while i do think the game looks pretty badass in many aspects like mechas and super gross nazi dogs and like the austin powers nazi lady being the main villain, i just don't appreciate the trailers or the torture porn thingie

i find it in bad taste

It isn't that bad if you go into the game thinking of it more like a Jurassic Park comic book sequel. Honestly most of the negativity comes from the fact that it's QTE heavy (Though easy) and that you don't actually move a character rather you just go from location to location. It's a good 6 hours. Though I admit I might be a tad bias.

Actually, the hole-in-one achievement in Worms Golf is incredibly easy to get on Hole 4 of the Britannia Course. On the other hand, I have one guy on my friends list who somehow managed to get that Straight Flush achievement with zero playtime. Whoops?

You'd need to give me 10€ to play it again. Per hour. Slightly exaggerating there but back then I honestly thought that that's the end of Telltale, the jump in quality with TWD was astonishing.

I think I'll give it a go anyway since I have it downloaded. If it's terrible at least I still get the 'play for the first time' reward.

I managed to get the hole in one but it took a while. I didn't even bother to try for the straight flush when the mathematical odds of getting it are something like 0.001%.

just watched that new wolfenstein trailer and uhh i guess i'm the only one but i kinda hated it

gives me the same vibe as the brothers in arms game did, tarantino could get away with it cos he's tarantino, his movie was an instant classic and open to multiple interpretations and it's satire in kind of a cool way. it's not some random violent bullshit with silly music

shit like that wolfenstein trailer doesn't really offend me or anything but man i feel like it's in bad taste
It's literally impossible for killing Nazis to be in bad taste.

I think Revelations end credits were about 14-16 mins in length. III's are about 30! Haven't quite finished IV yet but they better be bloody be skipable.

I take it Company of Heroes doesn't count then?

Do they actually have a SP campaign? Then that means I need to get on that.
Though still I'm waiting for a game that handles their angle and tries to humanize them at least somewhat. Sort of like what we saw in the film valkyrie.

Now that would be in bad taste.

It would depend on how it was handled and the story presented.

The base game didn't but the expansion Opposing Fronts had 2 campaigns from the Allied and Axis viewpoints.

Edward is talking in the end credits scene, so you'll have to wait.

I think with my PlayFire backlog he's going have to wait a fair bit longer.

Different Ubi studios most probably handled those segments.
yea, i still find it really weird

why would you let your protagonist look like this

well i don't mean it that way

i just think it's poor aesthetics

I'm still waiting on my game where we actually play as the Nazis.
i actually was hoping brothers in arms would do something like that

probably not playing as nazis but maybe taking some prisoner and having to move them somewhere and you know hearing their stories and the problems that'd cause your squad, with some wanting to leave them behind, some blaming them for their fallen comrades, etc.

i think it could've been really cool

I really wanted to beat the ps3 dark souls 2 before the proper version came out.

it doesn't look like that's going to happen. shrine of amana can fuck right off.

What version of CIV V should I get? I've never played one of these games before, ever.

You can get Civ V with Brave New World and another game for £10/your local equivalent from Gamefly. If you can't get Civ V Complete for a good price and don't want to wait for the next Steam sale, I'd recommend getting the base game with Brave New World as you'll have the new features of both Gods & Kings (religion) and Brave New World (tourism) by just getting Brave New World.

You'll only be missing the new Civilizations that come with Gods & Kings and the separate bits of DLC that give new Civilizations and scenarios. Strictly speaking, just the base game is enough to get you hooked while Brave New World gives you new gameplay elements that add up to a more complete experience.

Unfortunately the prevalent perception is that every single German soldier was an evil Nazi collaborator who deserves the most violent death. Some movies/series like Band of Brothers make the effort to not be pure black/white and while I know subtlety is hard to accomplish in video games sometimes I wish they'd try more.

That reminds me of an interesting point & click adventure which plays during the postwar years in Germany: http://www.reality-twist.com/wp/games-2/generation-zero/ It's been in development for a while but still not a lot of info.

The funny thing is Assassin's Creed started off having Desmond and Altair as well as Ezio all sharing the same likeness. All based on the likeness of Francisco Randez who is/was a French-Canadian model and performer. Bizarrely as the games gone on the models have looks less and less like him with III even ditching the Assassin in the Animus sharing Desmond's likeness.

Civ V Complete for $12.49 (never used the site; can't comment on its reliability)

yea there's something really weird going on

i guess ubi catched up to everyone just wanting the desmond bits to be over as soon as possible so they just half-assed them?

i actually liked the back and forth from animus to sci-fi real world, specially when you got to like see montreggionni in both past and future. that was pretty sick. i'm not a fan of desmond but i like this millennia expanding conspiracy nonsense, so i enjoy it

but yea maybe they should've put some effort into desmond lol

Stop It

Perfectly able to grasp the inherent value of the fishing game.
Well, for once, my Steam actually survived as others went down, which doesn't usually happen.

Seriously though, someone at Valve needs to work at the stability of their Steam networks, it's becoming a bit of a joke now.
Is sonic racing all stars tranformed worth it ? Is the next code ant good ?

Hell yes it is.
