Steam Autumn Sale 2015 thread of waiting for the Winter Sale

I think I'm done shopping.

I have a copy of Pillars of Eternity from KS that I'm looking to trade for Wolfenstein:TNO. PM me.

edit: gotten an offer

edit edit: offer was accepted, sorry for not clarifying.

So...Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 75% off as well as the DLC. Yay or Nay?

Edit: I did like Lords of Shadow 1 overall, but I didn't play Mirror of Fate.

One day Grim Dawn will be released :(

Also, kinda bummed at only 50% cuts on some games. Holding off for now, hoping for bigger cuts in December.

Funny you mention that cause they just released the second to last major patch before release, and they apparently already finished the rest of the game and it's just awaiting QA and polish, so they're expecting a december release(though january is probably also likely). It's almost there.

Did you like the first game and/or Mirror of Fate? The second game seems pretty hit and miss with a lot of folks.

Do other isometric classic RPGs (e.g. Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Planescape, which I haven't played yet) have similar combat? Because I think Dragonfall looks a lot like XCOM Enemy Unknown.

Shadowrun is all the way XCOM in its combat, most RPGs are not. It uses a similar cover system, two action point turns with each squad going as a whole unit then the other squad taking their turns, and infuriating misses what the hell good is 89% if you miss twice in a row anyway you stupid robotroll.

...

Anyway, liking Shadowruns doesn't necessarily mean you'll like the combat in classic Fallout games or D&D based games. Fallout uses an AP system that is more nuanced than "One to move, one to shoot" for example, with different weapons costing more AP and allowing to aim for specific body parts and perks to change how many action points are needed for actions. Planescape can be turn based or real time with the ability to pause anywhere, with a whole lot of dice rolls you don't necessarily have to see. There's also a wide variety of the amount of combat required, you can get by in Planescape and Fallout in combat heavy or light playstyles where with a game like Icewind Dale you're going to be fighting everything you run into.

Elite Dangerous is tempting at $15, but I'm worried there isn't enough to do content wise.

I'd say there's way too much content, but that depends on what you mean by "content." Exploring the galaxy while doing various jobs to fund said exploration can be great if you're into that sort of thing. That being said, the "Horizons" expansion set to introduce planetary landings should be coming out soon, so I'd probably wait for that and buy everything at once.

Cook, Serve, Delicious! is only $2!

Might even gift some to a few people I know.

Such a great game, can't recommend it enough!

Maybe a dumb question, but does it feel like playing TQ? I bought the game in EA a bit ago and play a little now and then just to keep up with the changes, and so far it seems pretty faithful to me. But man TQ is such a hard game to live up to, especially in terms of build variety.

might be in for gtav for $36 and grim fandango remastered at $3.74.

kind of bummed that even though dying light is 66% off and witcher 3 is 50% off their season passes are not on sale.

Honestly I haven't played the game in a while, I'm waiting for it to be finished. With the new constellation system thing, it seems quite a lot more interesting and that kinda makes up for having less classes than TQ. I found the world kinda boring and some of the class stuff to be more boring than TQ overall, but I think it's a setting thing, I'm not huge on post apocalyptic/more realistic stuff in general, especially when compared to mythological fantasy which is not that common and really fun to me. Then there's also the TQ mods, especially that big one that reworks the entire game balance and stuff, was really great.

Still I think it's a solid arpg and looking forward to playing it again once they finally release it. Which sadly is probably when D3 season 5 starts, which means I won't play it right away. And then PoE expansion. Maybe I'll have some time inbetween.

Looking through the games that I have played that now are on sale I can recommend Ori and the Blind Forest and The Talos Principle. Both games are sooo good :D

Is that the animal crossing clone? It is on my wishlist I think
Yes and i'm thinking it wouldn't be too much cheaper during the winter sale and i think i'd really enjoy it and thanks Stump completely forgot about that I think there was a thread on it back before I had a GAF account and just lurked daily.

Do it, the combat is super fun (better than the first), and the gothic atmosphere and architecture is awesome. DLC is great too.

Debating on:

  • Life is Strange (I wish whole thing was 50% off and not just the 1st episode)
  • Titan Souls
  • Teslagrad

I have a good few dozen games to play so I'll be a good person and wait until Winter Sale in a month and hopefully beat a few games to make room for these :P

NO NO NONNONONONONONONNO!

I loved Lords of Shadow and the sequel was a complete turd. Wait until they pay you to play it.

Get ready for the mosh pit, shaka brah.
