Steam Frame, Steam controller and Steam Machine Revealed

where are my chad master race gamers

Can anyone with a brain give me a price estimate based on this?

I thought to myself the other day that SD2 would be using the high speed SD cards like the Switch 2. Steam Machine too I guess.
Similar to ps5/xsx. Below in raw performance but newer tech would let it catch up. I've seen GPU comparisons with the RTX 4060 or RX 7600 laptop versions and a Ryzen 5 7500F for the CPU

Weak ass h/w which most definitely don't "have the power to play your whole Steam library, including your favorite AAA titles".

I sometimes wonder if Valve is purposefully sabotaging PC low end h/w cut off to not being forced to make games with modern AAA level graphics.
First Deck, now this thing.

Nice. The steam machine looks great! Providing it can perform well, I might just replace my 3080 machine with that. I don't care about power, I just want good form factor/performance and no more fucking windows!

According to DF it's comparable to a 4060 but with less ram than your 3080 (8 GB instead of 10 GB). This would be a downgrade for you.

Valve said it was sufficient based on their testing

Sufficient for what, tho. Older and/or indie games will probably be OK but what about the modern ones.

In DF's video, they say that turning on RT brings the game down to the 30's of FPS in Cyberpunk.

32GB system RAM and 16GB VRAM would have been much more appropriate.

The "who is this for" and "why not just put your own PC in the living room" crowd are strangely silent 🙄

Steam machine certainly seems underwhelming, power wise. But the VR headset will be mine, for sure.

This is humiliating for Sony, not only do they give Valve all of their games, while Valve gives them none of their own games, now Valve are making their own console lite hardware as well. If Sony continues to port their games to Steam now they must be braindead. Either stop PC ports now or only release it on a PS storefront and launcher on PC.

Valve is no less a competitor to them than Nintendo, so porting stuff to steam makes about as much sense as porting it to the Nintendo eshop.

$299 or $399, only 8GB of slow last-gen VRAM, small APU. Steam controller BoM complexities will probably bump it to $399.
