i think it's ok, ppl here care about that

it's just that my impression from watching those videos is "this is a beautiful game"

kind of the same that happened with watch dogs, really

People around here also care about that steaming shit called Hatred or talking about free speech with regards to GAF but the general response is "we don't do that roundabout these parts" because it leads to graveyards and puts the thread at risk.

Prolonged discussion about something deemed not to be discussed elsewhere just seems like fucking with hornets just to do it or because you haven't been stung yet, as opposed to normal SteamGAF tangential talk.

-all of which was my point in furthering the joke Jase laid

Everyone who's talking about Witcher downgrades instead of playing* Axiom Verge has failed at everything.

Also its player peak is 786 so going by what we know from other games it has sold a lot more than 1000. And don't forget it's basically one dude, doesn't need to sell a lot to become profitable.

*Standing around and listening to its glorious soundtrack is also okay.

not directed at you, but the only prolonged negative "discussion" i see around here is ppl whining when a topic they don't like gets 5 or 6 posts' attention

but i didn't bring it up so idc, been outside of neogaf for a few days so didn't even know talking about downgrades was taboo now

how about someone makes a spider appreciation thread and i can live my life in peace

also axiom verge is fifth on the top sellers list, it sold a lot more than 1k for sure

MUnited83

For you.
According to SteamSpy, only 1k bought Axiom Verge. Hope it did better on Playstation.

Steamspy is wildly incorrect in very recent games. With a peak of concurrent players bigger than 700, it easily sold much more than that.
Also, where are you getting your numbers? It's 3,708 on Steamspy.

Oh. I'm not overly familiar with PSN, but I'd guess the difference comes down to leaderboards being a Steamworks feature and Sony not having its own equivalent.

Games like Spelunky have them... so probably just something they left out this time. The leaderboards only seem to be for full game completion times anyway, which are not going to give much of a picture.

Anyway it is a quality game and it ticks all the right boxes for a steam title. I'm sure it'll do more than well enough.

Puh, a few quests into Witcher 2, chapter 3, heard it's the last chapter and shorter than any other. Looks like I have good chances in finishing the game before Witcher 3 arrives. It's really fun and I didn't manage to to skip a a lot of quests. Actually only quests that I willingly skipped where most bulletinboard quests and Little Sisters. The stroy is really good too, especially the later parts of chapter 2 gave me a triangle mouth.

fantomena made that post more than 12 hours ago, it's now sitting at 3.7k ± 1.6k owners

Of course not 1=1. Just a gist from me that the problem arise form that their plan is different with what some part of initial fanbase have in mind thus leading them to feel somehow betrayed (in Valve case, they pursue different route, everytime someone said Valve don't make game anymore, a dota player is having fun).
If HL3 released as multiplat and somehow PC ver look comparable or worse than console ver, I can't imagine the riot.

Yeah, I get it, but I don't think a big part of CDPR's inital fanbase consists of people with high-end rigs who want to to see that HW get pushed. But people who like Witcher and SP RPGs. And those people are going to enjoy CDPR's output going forward (they have TW3 expansions coming up, maybe more Witchers but without Geralt, Cyberpunk 2077 and who knows what), unless they're going to compromise on game design in the future.

Also by the time HL3 releases people might be just glad it finally released and won't care lol (this is optimistic)

Every time we post something about spiders and your not harmed it helps your psyche overcome your fear - i reckon in about 150 years you will have no fear of spiders what so ever!!!!

Yeah, Chapter 3 is the second shortest segment, with only the prologue being shorter. I was quite surprised how quickly everything wrapped up there compared to the other chapters. Don't think that because it's a short chapter that they won't throw a few hard decisions at you!

I hope Axiom Verge does well despite the dev's resistance to an early bird discount, since a lot of Steam users are trained to wait for at least a little reduction before diving in. I've got no interest in the game but it really does seem like it was done with a lot of love so I hope it pays off in the long run.

last chapter was disappointingly short on release, tho they added some new quests and tried to lengthen it a bit. i didn't try it since the enhanced version but im guessing it's still gonna be pretty short in comparison to the other chapters

still wrapped up pretty good, i liked it

People who say they don't care about SSDs haven't used a PC with an SSD. I will NEVER go back to a PC without one. No single upgrade ever made a more noticeable difference.

I must be the only one who doesn't care about SSD drives.
You really have no clue what you're missing out on.

Tried for gaming a while but it's not worth it at all for me.

But for ANYTHING else..... pure bliss.
Just peeped into that Western RPG soundtrack thread, and glad that UNATCO popped up in there. What an incredible track. This is when the game grabbed hold.
I bought one because of the discount the other day. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it when it arrives.

Masterpiece of a soundtrack. My favorite track is Paris Chateau. Love the Hong Kong streets theme too.
Great tracks! Even the conversation music is memorable. As much as I loved HR, the music is a blur.
Guys, GUYS! The memories. Don't do this to me!
Almost forgot how awesome the OST is at adding to the atmosphere.
And we got W3 PC vs Gameplay trailer comparison and there is no any doubt now.

It's in German, so here the parts that struck out for me. (Just transcribing, not putting my opinion mind you)

  • Played on 780Ti+i7-4790K > very fluid gameplay
  • Textures are not as high
  • View distance is much shorter
  • Sky and clouds are much worse
  • Water looks worse
  • Much less NPCs roaming cities
  • Lighting inside of buildings is much worse, immersion loss, "plastic-ey"
  • Vegetation is less dense and looks less realistic
  • AA option are not there, only on/off (that surprised me honestly), person guesses FXAA since even at ultra settings there is aliasing
  • Water in swamp doesn't react good to player movement
  • Fire lacks many good effects; particles and smoke
Verdict:
Still it's not possible to say the game looks bad in any way, actually very good looking. But it is definitely a downgrade from early footage and PC version is much more akin to PS4 version that early PC version.
Day1 Patch might add new options but most likely nothing substantial to bring back early footage quality.

Haha, I can't stand to watch that german Witcher 3 stream. The voice actors make it sound like a porno.

brr, hard decisions :(
Most of the bigger decisions were fairly easy for me, but the game got me with some of the small ones.
Fuck you, Malena!

Looking forward to the conclusion.

Yeah, SSD is a game changer. Everyone should have one for the system drive at least.

Having to go back to a traditional HDD when my Vertex 2 suddenly died late last year wasn't quite as frustrating as I thought it would be, but, yeah, an SSD for an OS drive is a great idea regardless* of how the rest of your system fares.

* Well, unless you're exceedingly short on RAM. ;)

I don't really need a tag, but I figured I'd get one to make people jealous. Is it working?
No but really if you don't have an SSD you should get one. At literally any size. I'm looking at Amazon and seeing good under-$100 options.

I...I would recommend an SSD upgrade over a GPU or CPU upgrade. Dig into those budgets if you have to. But get your OS off the HDD. Especially with Win10 coming out.

The problem of having less than 2 GB of VRAM is what's hurting me right now more than no SSD.

SSD isn't a gaming upgrade. SSD is an everything upgrade.
