Dead Island feels like crap at 60fps and I have no idea why, I only seem to get some semblance of smoothness when playing unlocked around 170-210fps.

There was/is a stuttering problem with playing on a controller, or maybe playing on M+KB? The helper fixes that
edit: beaten.

Man, I started Origin for the first time in ages and during its update my entire computer froze for a good 5-10 seconds. Thought something really bad was happening for a moment there....
ok gotta admit that stellaris is pretty addictive. even if i have no idea what i'm doing, it's fun to make all these decisions of how i want to shape the interstellar zkylon kingdom

i'm starting to make contact with other empires and they've not been super friendly. i met some smiley looking freaks that shortly after meeting them they've gone like "fuck you" and kicked me out of their territory. some bug people next to me are also showing some animosity. only ppl that like me are some dictator crocs and another type of bugs that unfortunately joined some other alliance which leads me kind of trapped between like a ton of people that hate me lol

i kind of wish the game was more about diplomacy and intrigue and all that cos the whole managing my kingdom isn't the most compelling shit ever. it's fun, but it's not something i think i want to spend dozens of hours on?

will see, been kind of uneventful for now, maybe it gets more interesting later
Stellaris' future updates should smooth out its rough edges. They've mentioned fleshing out the mid-game (which has less events and stuff) which will hopefully make it feel more alive during that period, and the AI updates will make it more competitive with players and other AI. I had a really peaceful game because I was surrounded by federation-builders or weak opportunist... I'd like to see more dynamism out there (it was all on the other side of the galaxy in my game).

If you're looking for more diplomacy and intrigue, CK2 is your best bet. It's difficult to get into, but gives some pretty interesting stories once you do. The RPG-like characters add a lot of flavour and personality to what would otherwise be a very sterile game of numbers.

finished Wolfenstein TNO

the ending is real bad

game's worth a playthrough tho

The ending was definitely the weakest part of the game for me. It was such a jarring shift in tone, I almost thought it was a joke at first.

Well, I attempted to sneak past the spider tank blocking my one way forward, but I encountered a problem, to put it lightly, when my Hacker was just in its sight for a split-second too long, and then the Spider Tank started absolutely destroying the cover my Hacker and Infiltrator were hiding behind, knocking over my guys and alerting nearby guards in the process. Only thing to do at this point, because I was in no shape to fight this thing, was to run away. Except my guys got to that spot by zipline. WELP, you can't exactly climb up ziplines, so these 2 agents that I had sent to scout for a path to my objective, had to run to a security panel to open a security door and run away through the main path. Getting this far through a safer one-way route was biting me in the ass.

It didn't go well. Hacker wasn't fast enough, and the two of them got mowed down by the guards' minigun and laser rifle fire in front of the panel. RIP. I wasn't going to attempt this assassination mission again in a while so I decided to cut my losses and let my Soldier and Support fast travel to nearest relay point downtown where they could reunite with the dead agents' clones.

Needed a change in scenery, and some extra money to build a tank-killing arsenal, so I decided to do some missions to get access to the 3rd section of the game (it has 4 total).

I had to trespass on some less guarded property to get the access pass, but even with that one I ran into some issues. My flamethrower-carrying Support got spotted due to her slowness with a heavy weapon, so a fight broke out before I was in proper cover. Both my Support and Infiltrator got killed in the beginning of the fight, and I had to keep mindjacking guys with my Hacker just to keep from getting outnumbered.

Ended up with a rather sizeable group of mindcontrolled redshirts by the time the fight ended, and the new (but weaker) clones of my dead agents could join me in my hiding spot within the facility. I had managed to already do some sizeable damage to security equipment and personnel so the rest of this mission was easy, and while that wasn't the last firefight there, it was the last one where I took any losses.

2 of the redshirt guards would become material for stronger clone bodies. I let the weakest one go.

what a thriller!
good you got things sorted and some clone material.

KojiPros icon character...

Looks like a fat cosmonaut.

I like it :D

A syfy game from Kojima would be too damn good. I hope that is what they are working on.

what if it's not a fat cosmonaut?
it looks like a pregnant cosmonaut to me

no, I'm not lying, I have it

devs really are running out of names these days, aren't they?

It could be anything really. Looking at the flag and the name on the suit..it looks like Kojima is making his own Starcraft game or somethin. He is usually very direct with everything he reveals. He wouldn't just show off something if it wasn't important. Can't wait to see what it is.

I guess I'm the only one wondering about the whole "exposed skull" thing. Everyone else seems to be focused on the spacesuit.

Apparently there's a "Spaceman Sparkles 2" and a "Spaceman Sparkles 3D'. So there's a whole sparkly franchise.

Everything that is good has already been trademarked.

I can't wrap my head around the fact that NVIDIA is trying to sell their version of 1080 for $925 here. And that they explicitly said they expect AIB boards to be even more expensive.

Honestly, AMD can't come around and kick their butts soon enough.

It's easy for Satellite Reign missions to end up being very eventful. The level of emergent gameplay moments is great.

Also, about the clones: in Satellite Reign, unless you're wearing fragile prototype equipment, which will break upon death, or you want to respawn your guy really quickly, which will cost money, the deterioration of your agent's bonus physical stats is the only real penalty for dying.

It's not a world-ending penalty, but it is reasonably punishing when the +20% Speed and +20% Accuracy that your assassination master Infiltrator got from the clone body of a high ranking officer, gets reduced to +8%, +8% or something like that. So you need to scan the world and kindap new top grade host bodies to plant your agent's consciousness in.

Any Elgato specialists in here? Having problems with 1440p monitor and display cloning. Some games just don't work (because they don't have true borderless window mode).

For me and a friend it started around mission 9 or 10 and happened 4 or 5 times. The game just closes without an error.

Yes, probably the same issue. Happened around 5 hours in the game during the campaign, on the Tower mission.

My second giveaway. Good luck to everyone:

This is why I tag people and add a nickname. If they're a gaffer, they get the GAF tag and the nickname is their GAF username in case they decide to change their name later on. So on, so forth. Makes it easier to deal with in the long run, and I haven't had a run in where the cats delete like game one's sometimes.

I really should have done this ages ago, but now I feel like it might be too late.

You really can't do 60fps, even with a 980Ti?
I could with a 970. Salsa plays on a toaster.

Did someone play Fran Bow here?
I just completed it but I don't understand what happened in the end.

Was Fran a clone or something like that? That's the only thing I can think about explaining the fact another Fran's body was found frozen the day after police found her murdered parents, and also the experiment the doctor was doing.

The problem with AK is not to achieve 60 fps maxxed, which you can most of the time. But, there are still some rare and unexplained fps drops in the game. I can live with that, especially with gsync, but for purists, the engine is not fps drop immune even with brute force.

"a bit" ? Looks like twin sisters to me.

I dont know. The whole "feeling" is the same, but the battle system and the locations differ from Muramasa. The battle-system looks far easier in that short clip.
This one looks like its based on chinese mythology.

I, for one, welcome our new chinese overlords.

nope

str build with a mace

str with a greatsword here. Just started a mage to try it out and noticed that the zone after the first boss where theres the
npc that tells you to go back to the starting area because theres a shortcut
is actually level apropriate, and theres A LOT of stuff there. I skipped that whole bit with my "main" need to go back there

Really, really tempted to jump on Witcher III at 50% discount, but I think I have enough stuff to keep me going until the Summer Sale anyway.

Same here, but honestly, it would be the dumbest impulsive buy I've done in ages, as I already tried in on the PS4 and didn't liked it AT ALL. Might go for The Witcher 2 though, as it is ridiculously cheap.

Missed the release of the first Slain! patch.

http://steamcommunity.com/games/369070/announcements/detail/883081388676190465

Hi everyone,

Thanks for your patience, support and suggestions for Slain! We’ve been working hard addressing the issues in the game and have now completed the first phase of that process.

Since Wolfbrew Games stepped back from development we’ve built a new team hellbent on giving you the product you expected and deserved. Insanely talented lead artist Andrew Gilmour is still in charge of the project, alongside myself on coding duties, veteran audio maestro Barry Leitch (who’s also written a new track for the game) plus a squadron of new detail-obsessed playtesters.

The updates we’ve got planned have had to be split into separate patches, purely for practical reasons (mainly the difficulty of deciphering someone else’s legacy code). The changes that have been made are:

Patch 1 - Out now!

This update fixes the functionality problems of the game, plus tightens up and expands other key aspects.

CONTROL

Improved the main character's movement to feel more fluid and fun (this includes the Wolf form too).
Improved the player's dodge manoeuvre to be quicker and more useful.
Fixed the horrible lag on the keyboard inputs.

HUB AREA

Added a "Cleared" message above any stages that you've already finished.
You'll also be asked if you want to enter the stage so there's no chance of entering by accident!

UI

Added in new menu screens for Keyboard and Gamepad controls.
If you're in a level that you've already cleared, you can now exit back to the Hub area from the pause menu.
The in-game font has been updated to be more legible.
Added in an icon to indicate that the game is saving.

ENEMIES

Added a bit more variation to the enemy AI. Some enemies will follow you off edges now rather than being cautious!
Rebuilt the existing boss battles from scratch, and gave some of them new attacks.
Added a new boss encounter: Malikesh the Imp and his bodyguard.

GENERAL

Moving platforms now move a lot more smoothly.
Overhauled all of the dialogue.
Added support for Xbox 360, Xbox One and PS4 gamepads.
Improved the tutorial text. It now tells you which buttons to press based on your connected gamepad or chosen keyboard control scheme.
Reduced the amount of time spent on the death screen.
Your progress is now saved at checkpoints.
Updated all of the introduction screens for each level.
Added in cross fading between scenes. So no more abrupt and jarring transitions between levels.

AUDIO

Improved the volume balance.
Added in many new sound effects.
Added in a new music track.

See link for the plans for patch 2.

I got assigned a review code of Slain!, and they were actually asking afterward to wait 8-12 weeks for reviews after they realized like everyone hated it. So a long way to go still presumably, that was like 5 weeks ago.
