Not game related, but man, if you're a fan of Quest bars, you *need* to try Combat Crunch bars. Basically an identical nutritional profile (tons of protein and fiber, very little sugar), but 1000% better texture, better taste, better... everything. Start with the Cookie Dough, then branch out.
I'll look into it, but the last time someone made this same claim about Bup bars and they were very wrong.
After tonight's UPS fiasco (serenity now!) I went ahead and kept going with Demon's Souls and beat 3-1. I had to look up a little hint because this area had some bad pnc adventure type logic to it.
I really do get the attraction to the games, at least with the puzzley and explorationy elements. Figuring out the different enemies is pretty fun too. However, for me, the long runs to the bosses are going to kill a lot of that fun for me. Figuring out the best way to kill a boss should be very rewarding, assuming you can start over pretty quickly after dying. But you can't, so I'm reduced to being excessively defensive because I don't want to die. I'm sure there was a good way to kill the boss I just beat, but I basically just hid behind a pillar and shot arrows at it until it was dead. What little I have played of Dark Souls seems a bit better in this respect because of the bonfire checkpoints.
The other thing I'm not a real big fan of is how opaque the game's systems are. From the simple stuff like using symbols I have to remember or refer back to the manual instead of words, to much more important stuff, like how the leveling up works. For example, I don't see anything I can put souls into to raise my attack power, and I don't know if that's for good or it will change if I put some more points into strength or dex or whatever. I don't know if my character can do magic and I don't know how to learn it. I don't understand what happens if a weapon has both magic and physical damage on it. Some of this can be found out with experimentation, but some of it requires changes that you can't reverse. So you must resort to reading faqs to understand the full game. Which is kind of lame. It's like the Donnie Darko of video games.
