Steam Summer Sale 2015 thread of refunding everything you buy (June 11-21)

Hey people, here's a PSA: SpeedRunners is some of the most fun you'll have on Steam. It's great locally and online.

It's still in Early Access because they're always adding more content, not because it lacks any.

Metal Gear: yay or nay?

Overwhelming yay. I finished it for the first time last night (I'm very LTTP) and couldn't believe how much of a leap the MGS series has taken in terms of gameplay. The full game is going to blow minds.

The only downside is that Kiefer as BB is still a horrible choice and is like a bloody nose on a beautiful face. He doesn't fit at all and his acting is pretty meh.

lol 33% for PoE
fuck off with that
i expected atleast 50%
I think this is the fifth time I say this just during this sale, but hey, let's do it again.

This is a very successful (both in sales and in acclaim) game which is less than 3 months old. Selling it for 50% off would be stupid.

Also, before someone says it, no, this does not make the sale worse than previous ones. 3 months old highly successful games were never routinely discounted by 50%+.

I'm surprised Trails in the Sky hasn't been a flash or daily yet. It was 50%off on GOG. Maybe it was that dumb and only deal that wasn't unlocked in the monster click game after all :(

How is it with only 2 people?

Looks like it's time to pick up Oblivion and then proceed to not play it for days as I mod the hell out of it first. If anyone sees this recommendations for mods are always welcome by pm if you don't wish ti clutter up the thread.

Is Planetary Annihilation fun? I thought it was a game people liked but the reviews look middling.

so anyone who likes dungeon crawlers / roguelikes I want to make sure you don't miss out on this little gem

one way heroics

at the massive price of 69 cents I know it could be hard to trust me and part with your money, but it's a ton of fun if you like those types of games, with a ton of secrets to find and a progression system to get stronger between runs.

There is also a new version of the game coming to steam later this year (it will be stand alone but I think saves might carry over) so it's a good way to see if it would be worth getting the new version later (that adds more classes and a lot of other things)

but yeah this game was liked so much that Spike Chunsoft said... WE WANT THAT! and decided to commission a remake of the game under their mysterious brand

That's what I wanted to hear. Thanks and bought.

Reposting so more people can have a chance
and because Modbot didn't repost for me.

Has anyone bought displayfusion through Steam? I'm wondering if you have to have steam running in order to use it, and how it handles detecting the different computers it's installed on (is it checking against being "installed" through steam and frees up one of the four slots when you "uninstall" through steam).

I don't have it on Steam, but I'm also curious.

(I actually own a license of the program. It's really good)

Talk to me about The Secret World guys.

F2P I saw.

Is it dead? Lot of solo content? Plenty of active players? Bugs taken care of? Fun?

It seems like something the Mrs. would get into so I may pick it up for her.

It was on PSN, which may be what they were remembering.

It was for all consoles, yeah. EBGames/GameStop even had this thing where you could pick it up for 9.99 at a point, but this is the lowest price it's been on Steam since release there. Same as Winter Sale.

So I want to buy the Euro Truck Sim 2 Scandanavia expansion only since I already have going east, but it costs more by itself than bundled together with going east and the paintjobs dlc. What gives?

How is it with only 2 people?

It's alright with two, but you'll find matches go long once both players get decent at the game.

The main mechanic of the game is that you die if you fall too far behind off the screen, so it's more surviving laps than finishing a race. When this happens in a 3-4 player game, the border of the screen slowly starts to shrink, meaning it's harder and harder to stay on the screen. Eventually you end up with a tiny space where a small mistake will kill you (and it gets really intense!)

The "screen shrink" doesn't happen until someone dies OR the match runs on for a while. With two players who know the course I find that it almost always came down to the "timer" starting the border shrink (unless they changed something for 2p, I haven't played in a while). The same can happen in a bigger game but it's more likely that someone will screw up with 4 players on the screen.

Doesn't make the game any worse but it just makes for longer matches, and because the maps aren't super huge they can get tiresome by the end of a close back and forth race.

Astebreed good?

Game is designed around a health system and things didn't quite pan out. 1CC means nothing (regenerating health isn't balanced properly, surprise) and the scoring system is unremarkable, so it's pretty much a play a couple times and move on kind of thing. Still, it controls well and looks incredible, so I wouldn't say it's a total waste of a few dollars or anything if you're a big fan of the genre (and already have all the top stuff like Crimzon Clover).

today is a good day for sales

Like Nabs, i wholly recommend SpeedRunners. you can mix local and online players and have a blast.
