What the consensus here guys, is DMC4 a good port ? (i heard 3 was shit).

4 is amazing, 3 is fairly poor.

Don't avoid 3 though. The game is excellent and the issues can be fixed.

Dr. Dog was playing DMC4 at 8K and was still above 60 FPS.

The learning curve for the swining mechanic is steep and I remember hating one of the bosses but other than that I consider the game severly underrated.

It's really not a bad game. I remember swinging into some annoying invisible walls but I enjoyed it.

Oh yes, almost immediately dying when swining the wrong way wasn't a very good design decision. Got used to it though.

Besides Euro Truck, what other great sims are out there that are also controller friendly? Its the only way I can play them.

That said, the game runs better than most native PC only games. MT framework is awesome.

Other MT framework games http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MT_Framework

all generally run great on PC.

I love that engine and how smooth it runs for most games.

Both RE4 and Revelations are nothing compared to the first Dead Space, imo.
But i liked 4 way more than Reve, they still feel so outdated (hell, even RE6 does)

I don't know about that. RE6 has more combat and movement options than most TPS. It's actually a bit hard to go back to the usual cover based shooter once you get used to how the combat system works. Easily one of the best in the genre.

Do I need to have played 1-3 to understand what the story is about on DMC4?

I've never gotten to beat the PS2 games, but from what I've played from the first one, I liked it.

The 66 metascore came from the poor 360 version. Most of the issues were fixed in the PC release but it never got reviewed again.
