Transformers is a cool game rendered unplayable by a 30 fps cap that can fortunately be removed by running a little handy dandy exe available on the interwebs.

I can play it fine. Not unplayable for me!

Ahh. Ok. :)

I didn't even realize I owned AYiM (must've got it in an indie pack), and I know that those 24 minutes that it took to get me the achievement will be the last. It's just not very fun, and more often than not I rotated into the wrong direction. Also, if you gain any amount of speed, it's pretty much instant death, regardless if you land on a sloped surface or not.

So yea, no thanks. The game got deleted immediately after that achievement.

For me the main thing is that the game is kind of boring for the first while. But personally I think it gets very fun, and the discrete rotations (90 degree chunks) becomes very important in puzzles later on. I won't necessarily say you guys should give it a longer chance, but I don't think it's as uniformly awful as that. In fact, managing your speed is an important mechanic, speed being the main way you die, and not just a random annoyance.

When did I become the polarizing indie game defense force.

How are you finding The Sims 3 + DLC/Expansions?
The Sims 3 is, predictably, the best entry in the series. It makes The Sims 2 and 1 feel like broken dollhouses. I cannot go back to them, and I adored The Sims 2. Seriously, pumped hundreds of hours into it. Now I will never play it again.

The expansion packs have been well received, but I have not yet played any of them. Should the franchise bundle, already so cheap, drop in price for a daily, I'll grab them all.

Are the expansions all independent? By that I mean, can you only play 1 at a time, or if you have them all, will all the content be accessible without having to launch a different program?

No, it's not completely awful, it's just not for me. The puzzles in that game felt like a chore because I had to make sure I didn't fall off somewhere, but at the same time make sure the bats or rocks went where they needed to go. Not only that, it feels like there's a general lack of direction in the levels at times, even with the checkpoint pointing you in the right direction.

At any rate, I have such a ridiculous amount of games to play, so I can easily skip over this one. But, I know the completionist in me will come back to finish this game at some later point. If I do that, I'll probably just use a controller instead of the keyboard.

And Yet it Moves seems like a pretty cool little game. better than i was expecting.

using the xbox360 pad (keys mapped to it) and it works great. rotating the screen with the triggers is great.

got the Summer ticket/achievement from it anyway.

Semblance

shhh Graham I'm still compiling this Radiant map
Wings of Prey still worth it for single player? Also is it controller-compatible? I realize I'm a horrible human being for asking the latter, but I'll pick up a flight stick sometime never, so yeah.

They're expansions in the traditional sense: they expand upon the base game, not act as separate games themselves.

I am wondering because I don't think you need all of them to play the latest one. So if you launch say, Sims 3 Generations, do you have access to Ambitions content assuming you have Ambitions installed? OR do you have to exit and launch Ambitions?

Before I delete local content and forever banish it to the void, I'll give that a try.

Thanks to everyone who recommended Beat Hazard, it's very fun. Sometimes the algorithm is a little wonky, but it's still a blast.

Hopefully we'll see Amnesia, Magic 2012, Mafia II, and/or Terraria today!

It's the zoom, you're often zoomed so far in that you can only see one possible option, maybe two.

Controller is definitely the way to go, I didn't use triggers like Zimbardo but mapped to left analog (for left+right) and buttons on 360. A for jump, X for clockwise, B for counterclockwise, Y for 180. Became much simpler for my feeble mind to understand. (A = my location.) Wound up moving pretty effortlessly through the third and fourth levels.

Except for those damn bats who didn't want to cooperate.

You should've picked Shadow of Chernobyl, and then in a separate transaction, pick up Call of Pripyat for $3.75
You don't need to do a separate transaction. I was able to buy all three games at the same time, and get the loyalty discount for CoP.

Since everyone is getting Beat Hazard now and realizing how awesome it is, here is a reminder to play the Tron Legacy OST on Beat Hazard.

Found a way to get the keys remapped, but it's not enough to keep me playing. The controls are way too digital. I don't know why he couldn't have replicated the analog motion controls by using the mouse to rotate the map.

Now I know why this game was completely off my radar. I must have played the demo when the game was initially released on PC and wiped it off my purchase list. Because I know there was a time I was excited about this game.
I really like the controls on the 360 pad and really started digging the game. It does some really neat things with the concept.

Is the DLC recommended for Beat Hazard?

Awww man! Totally missed that Deux Ex was on sale. Ill be at work until 5 so Im going to miss out.

That makes me a very sad panda.
So very subtle! :p Perhaps someone can gift you the game and you repay them later tonight. I'd do it, but I live in Euroland and as such everything is 30% more expensive :/

I knew the Sims 3 would go on sale, and I probably can't afford it now :/ likely a 40% discount.

Sims 3 franchise is already on 67% discount. Wouldn't 40% be a price increase?

Sims always launches the last expansion installed. In the game you have access to all prior expansions that you have installed. So yes, if you launch Generations, you will have access to Ambitions as well.

Thanks, that's what I wanted to know. I'll consider it if the sale is big enough. I don't really have time for it. I might wait until the Xmas sale to get the Sims 3 complete because the Pets expansion will be out and part of the bundle by then.

I tried the Eschalon demo yesterday for the ticket and I have to say that the game is pretty nice, old school rpg with a lot of stats, fallout-like combat and great writing.

To borrow from The Last Unicorn,
I did not know that I was so empty, to be so full.

I enjoyed the base game initially but the DLC makes it so much more awesome and it's a disservice to the game to skip out on it. Doubly so at this price.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.

Absolutely. It improves the game in every way. Hell, another developer would have released it as a full price sequel.

Series that inspired Heroes of Might and Magic and an excellent strategy game. Do recommend.

I too skipped it in the winter. If it's $5, which I'm guessing will be the case if it's on sale, should I go for it?

This is what I settled on. Though I think I reversed the X (counter) and B (clock) so that they weren't inverted.

Yeah. This has saved it from getting deleted into the void. It's actually pretty cool once the controls work.

It's not only incredible, but it's important, a landmark release, play it. This, SS2 and Half-Life were a holy trinity that in an alternate world skewed gaming into something so much richer than we ultimately have.

And it's cheap as fuck.

Is the Alt+Enter a Steam thing or a Windows thing?

No clue. I know it works on a bunch of games though. It works perfect though. I play that way. It goes to a window then you have to tab so you can click to maxamize but after that it plays great.
