I'd be all over a bunch of these games if I didn't already own them on console.

I have to agree with this. I didn't play it until earlier this year and I was completely blown away. It is definitely one of my favorite, if not my absolute favorite, game of this generation.Dipswitch said:I generally try to refrain from hyperbole, but I've come to the conclusion that Batman: AA is the best game I've played in years. The stealth parts are great, the combat is meaty and satisfying and the writing/production values are top notch. Add in the (largely) optional puzzle sequences and challenge modes and you have something for everyone.
It's the first game I've played in a long time that I was sad to see end. It's well worth $7.50.
How many games do people realistically replay many years later? I'll grab Mirror's Edge when it's on sale probably, a few games like that, but there's very little I'd consider double dip quality.Sinatar said:Your consoles will get outdated and discarded, PC's are forever. Double dip for posterity.
gybe said:Forsaken Gods wasn't made by Piranha Bytes and was even more broken than Gothic 3 on release. Even with the Community Patch it still might not be that good Gothic 3 with the Community Patch. Gothic 3 patched up as good or better than Risen.

How's Killing Floor, though? Seems pretty similar.
Even if a game is completely vapid, I'd rather experience something new.Sinatar said:Because new games are getting dumber and dumber. The only vestige for any real depth these days is classic games.

SalsaShark said:what the fuck else do i want? a 7.5usd price point since the game came out in 09 and they need to promote the new sequel$15 is way too much for that game on Steam.

KF pits your team of 6 in a map and sends waves of baddies at you. It's pretty much a shooting gallery game, with a basic weapon/gear purchasing system like Counter Strike.
You battle up to the final wave, face the boss, and move on to the next map.
All the while, there is a global persistent character leveling system. Also a class system with bonuses and such.
It's great mindless fun. Lots, and I mean lots, of user made custom maps. Some are really good, some are shit. Servers have sussed the good ones out and you won't typically run into bad maps.
There's an active community, plenty of servers (US) and lots of people playing.
It's worth the regular price IMO. You'll almost assuredly like it if what I describe above sounds good to you. I've put like 50 hours into it and I play casually. It's a great pick-up-and-play game.
L4D is a whole different sort of game.

I'm not a bullet hell guy personally, but in terms of retro styled games, I'm not sure, I don't care about Megaman 9/10, but you could argue Super Meat Boy could have been made a long time ago, and is truly wonderful. It's far from vapid though, I'm sure Jamestown is the same.Zeitgeister said:So where does that leave Jamestown?

the correct deal to post here is Empire: Total War, since its steamworks

Shit, why not make it free? We gamers are ENTITLED to receive these games for pennies...no, LESS than pennies!Gez said:7.50? Should be $5
