Characterization is pretty non-existent, and the story is meh. The game is really about exploration, but IMO it's horrible without mods. So in short: get it and mod the hell out of it :)

I got it this morning and left it to download. Havent touched it yet... should I mod it before playing it the first time, or should I go do vanilla first?

If you're using my guide, I'd advise you to install all the mods I recommend except the ones in the "Big Changes" category. There really is no reason to keep thousands of bugs, horribly bloated menus and blurry textures.

I JUST. GOT. PAID.

God DAMMIT STEAM!

<3

(Bought Reccetear, Bit.Trip <insert title>, and Darksiders. Although I should've waited on Darksiders, to be fair. Oh well)

Here's a question for you, I'll probably be moving to the US next year. Will I need to register a new steam account for the US? I've been reading that steam logs your IP to stop people from using proxies, but what does it do if you legitimately move to a different region?

I wanted to buy a 4-pack Borderlands for some friends but steam says I can't buy it because I already have it. That's nice...

Tough choice: Morrowind: Goty $14.99 or Oblivion Goty $6.80?

I've played Oblivion to completion (more than 200 hours logged on PS3). But, barley scratched the surface with Morrowind. Any chance that Morrowind goes under $14.99?

If it's not a daily deal then there's a chance. Wait it out.

I'm sure I've read a few times about people having their steam accounts relocated, but I can't remember anything specific. I guess the best bet would be to contact Steam support and check what you would need to do - sorry I can't be more help, but hopefully that gives you somewhere to start?

So I decided to put Witcher 2 in my cart anyways (From the Russian site), for shits and giggles, and it gives me an error initializing message when I attempt to pay. Which is what I assume happens. What's weird is, the main steam page now shows it for $13.39. But it isn't a Russian page. It's all in English.

It depends where your bank/CC is registered. You can only buy through the store that matches the country where your bank/CC is registered (also you need to have the same IP, but support can unlock your Steam account). So if you move to the US, but use a non-us bank account, you can't buy through the US store. I'd send a ticket to Support when you're about to move.

Yeah, I'll ask steam when I get nearer the date. Thanks, dudes :D

Don't tell me you can put it in the cart from another region and pay in yours...?

Fuck. Now nothing works. I shouldn't have put that Russian Witcher 2 in my cart.

I was able to put it into my cart but I get this error:

There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance.

Which I assume is Steams way of telling me I can't buy it. So I decided to take Witcher 2 out of my cart, it still shows up as $13.39 on the main page. There is no sign that I'm linked to the Russian site and everything is in English, yet I'm now getting the $13.39 amount. Nothing works in my cart when I try to check out though. Witcher 2 doesn't work and other games don't work either.

I've never ended up playing oblivion for a very long time... seems like I should make do with this cheaper price right now... Bought.

Getting the full full GOTY edition is best right?

I saw a mod thread on here the other day... there are many mods to help make it look better right? The Steam version can be modded like any other can't it?

Didn't the Russian version of The Witcher 2 have a lot more bugs? And for some reason they couldn't patch it like the normal version.

That's what I remember reading anyway.

Wouldn't they be the same game?

Do you guys think they'll put portal 2 on a daily deal?
Nobody can possibly know. Your best bet is to wait, if your desperate to play it today, just buy it. It's a great price still. I wouldn't be offended if the game was 10% off all sale, it's that good.

Alright, it's gone back up to $33.49 for me. I had to clear my cookies. Hopefully it starts letting me purchase games again.

The Oblivion edition featured on the Steam sale includes everything. Highly recommended since it comes with the essential horse amour DLC.

Steam versions of Oblivion had issues with mods in the past due to OBSE (oblivion scriptor modifer) clashing with Steam DRM. But Valve/Bethseda has solved it, and everything runs fine.

Ban incoming for price circumventing in 3... 2... 1... ;)

Are you buying through a browser? use
Code:
http://store.steampowered.com/?cc="X"
, replace "X" with the code for our country to return to your countries store

Portal 2 is probably getting a daily deal, i'd guess 50% or something since it's already 33% off

listen to the mad man
Oddworld Abe's Odyssey and Abe's Exodus both got discounted to 84 cents overnight. They weren't on sale last night.

Edit: combined pack is 1.69, so it'd cost you more than buying them separately.

Yeah, it was a browser issue. I didn't end up buying anything and I wasn't using a proxy. It simply let me add to a cart from a supplied link. I can purchase just fine now.

Nice, I loved the first game on psx back in the day.

Are the ports still crap?

I believe the complete pack (1-4) is also discounted. I just bought the pack with 1 & 2 in.

If you let support know they can change the store that your account can make purchases from.

I went on holiday to San Fran last year and since then I've only been able to purchase from the US store. Suits me because the Australian prices suck.

If you can get yourself a new credit card it's just a matter of using that instead for purchases.

Waiting for Portal 2 to go down. Although the servers will probably get majorly bogged down if that happens.

No way Civ V will stay at -33%. I expect it to go down -75%

Steam servers must be getting raped.

I put Witcher: Enhanced Edition to download last night when I went to bed, and in eight hours it downloaded 5 gb.

:\

Just finished Civ V (11.19 on Gamersgate) and got my max 1.5MB/sec the whole time:) I guess people on the east coast US have already done their damage and are waiting for the start of the next day.
