I managed to convince myself to pass on Borderlands/Oblivion with the "when will I ever actually play these" argument.

WILLPOWER

That's not a valid argument. It's not about playing them, it's about knowing you could play them.

Honestly, who ever has been recommending this game must be trolling. Maybe it's some big Steam thread joke that I just don't get, but this game is not good at all.

Someone doesn't agree with your opinion and they're trolling? Right.

I had a great time with the game back when the free weekend was on (played 6 or 7 hours with a friend), definitely worth it for $1.50.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.
With only a few hours left to buy Lead & Gold, I must reiterate:

You are a fool if you don't buy it for $1.50 and, if I were the dictator of some island nation, I wouldn't allow you to take part in the rest of the sale.

How is it not good? Even if it isn't worth $10, or $5, how in the hell is it not worth $1.50?

He wasn't alone.
Mad Moxxi for $2.49..... one hand I wouldn't mind reinstalling Borderlands, other hand every thing any one has ever said about moxxi is that is the dlc to skip.

You really need multiple people to beat it, like at least 3.

Is it really that good? I'm getting such a huge backlog.

I got like two hours to decide if I want DoW 2 at the daily deal price :-/ any suggestions

Will you actually play it?

Above 5 dollars the frivolous spending on games you won't actually play is foolish.

It is $1.50. Take the risk.

If you hate multiplayer games, or will only be playing with random people, I'd still argue it is worth $1.50. Playing with friends, the game really, really shines and is worth 10 times the asking price

Just did the magicka summer achievement. Really easy to do if you have a controller. Just start versus and spam rain 'til the achievement unlocks. (you need 2 players for versus, thus the need for a controller)

Awwww ... that sucks. I bought a four-pack based on the low price and the distant memory of an old Giant Bomb Quick Look. Installed and gifted, but haven't played yet, and now you've already made me sad.

EDIT:

Obviously hyperbole is obvious.

I'm glad you had a great time with it, but there are people out there wasting 1.50! Really though, I just want to let everyone know that Lead & Gold, to some people, isn't even worth 1.50...

As a counter to that point let me say this, Lead and Gold is a terrible game that isn't worth $1.50.

Of course, opinions and assholes and everything, but I couldn't even enjoy it when it was free those few months ago, poor control and graphics and gameplay and sound all added up to what felt like a complete waste.

But the worth thing I can say about it is that it feels really generic, which is an extremely hard thing to do when you are a Wild West based multiplayer shooter with what SHOULD be an easy to build asthetic to engage people. Instead I felt quite bored. And I love good Wild West games.

It's really enjoyable in a full server. Maybe because there's an influx of people grinding for the achievement at the moment or people who just picked up the game today and have no idea what they're doing. As far as the base goes this is up there with the best team centric shooters imo.

How are you seeing new achievements? Are they just showing up on the game pages? My Steam still shows the 30th's achieves on the main page.

How cheap do sort of recently released games go? I've been eyeing Shogun 2 for a while

Its getting an achievement and might get a daily sale for it. No idea how far though, but I'd say 50% are not too unlikely.

I didnt like it either btw, but I simply didnt like any Team based shooter since CS (and I wouldnt like that anymore as well) and simply gave in for some miracle, but eh. Doesnt matter, I'll survive having spent 1,50.

Yep, good job.

It feels to me like people recommending such a boring game have to be trolling other people, how is that hard to understand? Besides, I'm not the only one who hasn't enjoyed it, I'm just the loudest one.

I don't want people to waste 1.50 that could be better spent buying Recattear or Bit.Trip Runner is all.

check games that got updated and their new achievements. Pretty easy to deduce. Magickas is something like "swedish summer, unlock wanted treat".

I am curious, did you already own Bit.Trip.Beat or why didnt you pick that one up? it even got an achievement tied to it. Its strange that 60+ people picked up Runner but only 10+ people Beat in here.

Yeah I already have Beat. I believe I got it in an indie pack during another sale.

Dawn of War II: Retribution also has an additional new achievement (in addition to the flamer one) that was just added in. In fact, I unlocked it earlier by accident.

I guess Magicka was updated early? I figured they'd update the games on the day they're supposed to be a camp activity.
Mount and Blade Warband got some new achievements too, so perhaps that game is one of the ticket games as well?

Got instant buyer's remorse on buying the Telltale pack, only because I bought the Monkey Island series in the last sale and have never even booted it up. What makes me think I won't do the same here :)

This post'll probably get glossed over among the sales stuff but: is there a way of turning automatic update downloads off globally?

Good to know! Was wondering if I had to rush to get some more achievements or I could just do them at any point during the sale.
You'll have to "rush" on the games from last day or two, but otherwise it seems like most of the achievements are not majorly time-consuming so far (which was probably suggested/mandated by Valve in organizing this thing).

I'm sure you already know this, but you should definatly get to the Monkey Island series eventually, its the best of the recent Telltale stuff and is worth a playthrough. Sucks that you already owned the best of Telltale, but the other games aren't bad either.

Assuming you're still humming and hahing about this, I'd say its worth it.

* You have a Diablo style singeplayer
* You have a streamlined 'no base building' more traditional RTS multiplayer
* You have a fun 'horde mode' co-operative multiplayer

It's pretty much 3 games in one...
