given that the difficulty curve from 1-10 to 1-11 is vertical, i would guess any new player who is stuck is stuck there.
Haha I got stuck at 1-10. Fun game while it lasted, but I don't think I'll ever advance

Would anyone like to let me know how to get the Retribution summer achievement? As far as I can tell, none of the weapons I can choose from are called a 'flamer' but there are flamethrower-like weapons. Maybe I missed it, however.

Go into Last Stand, and choose the orc Mekboy as your hero. His second weapon is a flamethrower, and it counts toward the achievement.

Retribution is amazing and it's the daily so this is as low as it's going to go at least until the Holiday sale.

This x100.

The Last Stand mode alone is easily worth $15. There is SO much content in the game. The campaign mode is really more ARPG than RTS, the Last Stand mode is horde mode with leveling and a large number of heroes to level, and the adversarial is really good as an RTS. Any one of the three parts is more than enough to get your $15 out of it.
You both are really sucking me in here. Having money in your Steam wallet sure doesn't help against impulse buying.

Yeah, why not. The server needs to be public, are you opening? Whats your Steam ID?

Reccetear is brilliant- the Japanese of it all is a bit much to begin with, but once you start dungeon crawling it becomes excellent. Mainly because then you actually start making serious dosh, ha. I can see myself pumping hours into this, provided the game is long that is.

Serious Sam is a wicked gahbidge series for chowdaheads.

I repeated found myself curing at the game because my character on screen didn't do what I wanted him to do and what I thought I had done on my keyboard. I didn't mess with any of the settings (because I really wasn't invested enough to) but my complaits about this could be because I have a general bias against 3rd person shooters to begin with. Everything about the third person perspective turns me off with very few exceptions (Gears of War/Dead Rising ect...)

Fair enough. However, honestly, if I was giving buying advice, I'd give my inherent biases before calling something a total waste (e.g. I hate first-person shooters, or sports games, etc.).

Dude it's a wild west game! The sound should be something that makes you feel like a damn cowboy or outlaw and it was completely absent. I felt like I was shooting toy guns. It's not a big complaint but it was just part of what I didn't like about the game.

Understandable. There is some appropriate music at the beginning of matches, but you're right. If you're looking for classic western music throughout, you won't find it here. As an aside, I don't mind it. If anything it feels more authentic to me as that is how a shootout would go down. Unless there was a band hiding somewhere, I dunno.

All I'm gonna say is: it's hard to argue against $1.50.

When someone asks A. or B. don't post both. Not everyone has the cash or time to play every game they want. Using logic like "if you're not sure, buy both" is also not really that useful.

Your criticisms sound like they were based off of pictures on the store page. Not saying they are, but they don't really get to the heart of any serious problems.

1) Poor controls? The controls are great. I don't even know how to respond to this. Either using a pad or a keyboard/mouse, it controls fine. Did you try messing with the options at all? This is literally the last thing that I would complain about with this game.

2) Graphics? The game looks great. I love the half-way realistic/stylized look. Are the characters digital Roger Rabbits like in Team Fortress 2? No, but not everything needs to be.

3) Gameplay? It is a team shooter. Certain classes are better than other in certain situations. It is pretty well balanced for having 4 unique classes. Are there enough completely different modes? I could always want more. But for 1.50? There is an embarrassment of modes to play.

4) Sound? I dunno. There isn't a ton, sure. But it feels appropriate. Not everything needs an orchestral soundtrack.

5) Generic? I dunno, depends on the perspective, I guess. If you play a lot of team shooters, then yeah, it doesn't bring a ton of super new stuff to the table. You'd be hard-pressed to find another game like it on PC, though. Far from generic.

Did you play with friends? Any multiplayer game is better with friends.

I understand if the game didn't do it for you and you're entitled to your opinion. I also don't think the game is perfect, but for anyone remotely interested in anything the game is trying to do, 1.50 is a bargain.
Ah, but the perfect counterpoint to your arguments, especially the price argument, is thus: "Why buy Lead & Gold at any price when you can download the greatest team multiplayer shooter ever, Team Fortress 2, and play it as much or as little as you like...for free?"

Plus, the only hats L&G gets you are the characters' in-game Stetsons. :p

Waiting impatiently for the next raft of DDs. Hold me back, GAF.

Holding out for Fallout 3 under $5. I'm almost hoping Batman Arkham Asylum doesn't go on sale because it comes with Securom. I really wish they would remove that by now, it's so useless and only punishes paying customers.

So much DLC for Retribution; is any of it any good or worthwhile? The complete pack of stuff costs more than the game normally does..

SO I just noticed it pointed out that Civ 5 is cheap as hell on the UK Gamersgate site. As a US Gafer, if I buy it there will I be able to play it? Will I be able to add it on Steam or does that not work?

One set is for single player and is very powerful. One set if for last stand, I havent used a lot of it, but I think its pretty good. Then there is the Dark Angels pack which is cosmetic for competitive multiplayer.

Yes, it'll activate on Steam. See the first post in this thread.

I'm not saying I haven't enjoyed a 3rd person shooter before, only that I have a harder time enjoying them.

It is hard to argue against 1.50 but damnit I'm giving it my best shot.

It's only $11.99 here in the US, what store are you on where it is so expensive?

The DLC for whatever race you chose to play in single player is good, but it is only gear for ONE hero unit in the single player.

I know what you mean, but in some cases this is truly the opinion the poster would like to express. I also linked to the post where I described my sentiments about the differences for others to decide, which is in the end, way more helpful than just posting "A." or "B.".

Works. Just copy and paste the CD Key Gamersgate gives you.

Shoot. I am starting to seriously consider picking up Dawn of War. I haven't played Company of Heroes yet though! But I loved DoW1, 2, and CR.

Ah, ok. I'm getting slaughtered going into public games, any tips? Simply right clicking on the enemies and then attempting to run away when near death isn't working. Would probably help if I knew how to play the game, but I would rather just get the achievement right now.

Well, that's not a counterpoint, but a whole new argument!

But seriously, it is quite different from TF2. The only thing it has in common is that there is team multiplayer. It isn't even the only mode available.

The Deus Ex Collection
The Longest Journey + Dreamfall

I'm still on the fence about Borderlands (which I played extensively on PS3 but never finished) and Retribution.

Decided to get Oblivion GOTY Deluxe. Probably the most I'm willing to spend on a single game unless there is some fantastic deal on something I don't have, otherwise I'll stick to games $5 or less.

Only weird thing is that the game shows up in my library now, but I haven't gotten a confirmation email from Valve or Paypal which normally comes instantly. Servers getting hammered?

I died a couple times, but I got the achievement in only 2 games. Just tough it out, you start at level 1.

Edit: Oh yeah, I got it by just right clicking on the packs of enemies, then retreating back.

I was able to buy it from their UK site. Activation on steam worked as well, you just put in the cdkey the website displays.

I wasn't able to get the PayPal credit card option to work though. I ended up using the money booker option. I've never heard of moneybooker before so i was a little wary of giving them my credit card and US address. But i worry too much about this kind of thing.

Was a really good deal, hope steam doesn't care that i bought it from a UK website. I have too much stuff on steam to lose in case of a ban... *Shudder*

Ended up getting:

Bit.Trip games - $5.00
Borderlands: GoTY - $5.65 (Thanks again Sutton Dagger)
Toki Tori - $1.24

Coupled with the fact that I won Crysis 2, It was the best day of the year so far!

Bit.Trip Runner
To buy it or not!

was hoping it'll come to iOS for an inevitable 0.99

I'd say buy. Runner may initially seem like a perfect fit for iOS, but having to combine kick, slide and jump might be a bit to awkward on a touchscreen.
