I'm glad you had a great time with it, but there are people out there wasting 1.50! Really though, I just want to let everyone know that Lead & Gold, to some people, isn't even worth 1.50...
As a counter to that point let me say this, Lead and Gold is a terrible game that isn't worth $1.50.
Of course, opinions and assholes and everything, but I couldn't even enjoy it when it was free those few months ago, poor control and graphics and gameplay and sound all added up to what felt like a complete waste.
But the worth thing I can say about it is that it feels really generic, which is an extremely hard thing to do when you are a Wild West based multiplayer shooter with what SHOULD be an easy to build asthetic to engage people. Instead I felt quite bored. And I love good Wild West games.

CoH is the best rts ever, and way better than DoW1/2. I'm saying this as someone who loves the 40k universe. Only talking about SP though.coopolon said:Shoot. I am starting to seriously consider picking up Dawn of War. I haven't played Company of Heroes yet though! But I loved DoW1, 2, and CR.
jaundicejuice said:How is Lead & Gold generic but at the same time in a fairly unique setting for video games? Lead & Gold is not quite TF2's Warner Brothers meets 1940's war propaganda stylised but it's got a nice stylised aesthetic that pushes it away from naturalism/realism.
How are the controls poor? I've only used the keyboard and mouse but I have had 0 issues with the controls aside from the placement of button for the unique class ability you can activate (left alt), which I sure I can easily change. It's a simple wasd layout, mouse works fine.
How is the gameplay poor? They've done a lot of smart things that passively promote and encourage team work. There are four classes, each class has a different passive skill boost that increases the better you do in a match, this encourages you to have a decent balance on your team if you've only got four players and to stay close together to receive those bonuses. A teammate can be the flagbearer for your team, and while thismakes that player a target, it allows your team to spawn mid-map and passively be healed as well. There's a healthy number of modes, all given a wild west twist that makes them feel unique. It doesn't feel like I'm playing Capture The Flag when playing Greed. There's a nice number of maps, nine or ten and they're all fairly wide open, huge and with a lot of levels to them. There's multiple buildings, cliffs and pathes to run around on.
Lead & Golds only problem is that, like Monday Night Combat, not enough people play the game. It's totally worth 1.50$, it's worth the 10$.

What I meant by "both" is that both are worth his money and time, equally.Visualante said:When someone asks A. or B. don't post both. Not everyone has the cash or time to play every game they want. Using logic like "if you're not sure, buy both" is also not really that useful.

I regret a little bit paying for Bit.Trip.Beat, however I'm having fun with Beat.Trip.Runner

I've actually played the game quite a bit, on both PC and PS3, and both times I felt like I wanted that wasted time back. It's not even that the game is astoundingly awful (on PC - the PS3 version was an abomination, jaggies everywhere, janky controls, dead community), it's just that, aside from the theme and aesthetics, it was so very painfully generic. The graphics were ordinary, the controls on PC were imprecise and floaty, the sound was almost functional, and the various game modes did nothing to help the game stand out from the crowd, IMO of course. All the time i played it, all I could think was that I could be playing something else more...anything instead.morningbus said:Well, that's not a counterpoint, but a whole new argument!
But seriously, it is quite different from TF2. The only thing it has in common is that there is team multiplayer. It isn't even the only mode available.

According to steamgamesales the cheapest it has been is $20. I bought it on sale over a year ago and I'm pretty sure it was for that price.NIN90 said:Probably. Was 5$ a few times I think.
Lead & Gold has more problems than "people just don't play it". People don't play it for a reason.jaundicejuice said:Lead & Golds only problem is that, like Monday Night Combat, not enough people play the game. It's totally worth 1.50$, it's worth the 10$.

Now, I'm not saying that you shouldn't encourage GAFfers to go out and buy Lead & Gold for £1 in the...25 minutes they have left, but if, after playing, they feel like they even remotely wasted their time, well, they can't say that I didn't warn them.

But yes, just from running through the first world last night to get the summer achievement, it's very good.
It's a very puzzle-heavy platformer, if that's not clear on its store page. It's a puzzle game first and foremost.
