I'm about to pull the trigger on XCOM from Simplygames. Just double checking to make sure it's a legit site and that the code registers on Steam. Nothing about it on the site, but it's Steamworks, right?

You can hide the key in the -tag
Hide it inside the e-mail tag. Like so: [ EMAIL="hide here"]asdf[ /EMAIL], removing the asdf and spaces.

Do you have a link for that? Yeah, the site looks a bit fishy but I just started up XCOM that I bought from them and it's fine.
I'm sure it is, but a few months ago some dev that posts on here found a cd-key site that had some stolen keys, so the mods said they were all bannable.
Maybe simplygames is fine because they also have retail stuff.

They aren't selling Russian keys as far as I can tell. It's a normal video game site that also sells some Steamworks keys.

Has anyone else had trouble buying from GMG today? All my cards are fine on mine and the bank's end but PayPal nor my cards seem to work.
I don't think it matters whether the keys work or not, but it's more of the question where they got them.
As for simplygames I don't know if they count as bannable

Yea, I haven't been able to get any of the keys and they are not responding to emails apparently (or responding very slowly given the holiday season).

Gamefly has it for £15 too so it's not like they are incredibly cheap with this game, or many other.
Just purchased something from GMG with Paypal (first time). Seemed to work fine.

Just got this, they sell CD keys to Canadians. Cost $21.46 which is the lowest I've seen for XCOM so far.

It wasn't in the first post (if it was I missed it and I thoroughly apologise) but does anybody know if Football Manager 2013 was already on sale? I have a feeling that it was but I am still slightly unsure. Likewise since it wasn't in the original post, if it was on sale, I presume it wasn't a daily deal, in which case it may still reappear, right?
It has been 25% since the sale started, so it's only an additional 8%. Super weak.

One site was selling Russian Steam-redeemable CD Keys acquired with Stolen Credit Cards. Some accounts got temporarily suspended for redeeming those keys, while others just had the games removed from their accounts. Of course, they never got any refunds from the sites selling those keys.
A MOD here on GAF, seeing these events, banned mentioning of any sites that sell russian-based cd keys (in other words, cheap cd-key only games), and some legit web stores (like Green Man gaming) got caught in the crossfire.
Either way, the point is moot nowadays, because every Russian game is region-restricted to Russia. However, some shady sites (and the one posted on this thread about x-com is not one of those) still sell keys bought with stolen credit cards. They're not as cheap as they used to be, but you can easily tell which are those websites (misspells all over the website, poor translations, poor interface).
The site i'm talking about still sells cd keys, and I'm stuck in their mailing list. I can't remove myself from it.

Sometimes you need to call up your bank and let them know about GMG.
Some banks seem to think that GMG is a casino site. Even restricting your cards or bank account through PayPal.

Perfect for those looking for a change of pace from all the unbalanced and bar filling braindead shooters out there. They keep touching it up every week too.
