They don't sell as well because they're all f2p shovelware lol, First Decendant, one of the laziest and shittiest looters around, is one of those titles. The reason why Stellar Blade sold well is not because it's a gooner game. It sold well because it's a very high quality game. The dev put more polygons on the character and her strip club style outfits than every level in the game. You compare the detail of her outfits to the environment and how low res, uninspiring and ugly everything is, and it's pretty clear that they had only one goal in mind, lure in every single gooner there is. Which they've achieved.

On resetera you probably can't even say what people really think of the game. You'd be seen as a "chad" and get your ass banned.

that's true. They put a lot of effort in their character model. Eve has so many facial expressions, she blinks, she winks, she pouts, she smiles, blows kisses, gets angry, be playful, she smirks, she sighs, she makes hand signs, etc, They make her so alive

Also, in addition to paid DLC, they keep adding free costumes and new pose, and they put them in NG+++++, to entice players to keep playing

Hell, I wouldn't mind to have another pair on some bosses.

I mean, I'm really happy for ShiftUp, but let's not get ahead of ourselves and put some context here for other posters. The main PC market here is China with newly released dub (was not available on PS5 for 1 year) and 40% cheaper regional pricing. Game still did awesome in the West all things considered, especially since the bulk of sales were above the Chinese full price.

Okay let's talk, how much have you played of it?

I finished the Altess Levoire quest and research lab last night. Really cool area, loved the design in the lab. I didn't like the boss and focus on shooting though, but the whole area reminded me that I actually have a gun so was good from that perspective, usually I just go full melee.

The Wasteland was all kinds of awesome, lots of the game early on has been corridors but they really went "FFXIII chapter 11" there and opened it up. Lots of paths to take and stuff to find and I liked all the surprise encounters. Favorite area so far.

Xion city is interesting too, didn't expect something like that in an action game, they added some RPG lite content in there.

All in all I really don't play action games for the story, and I assume that goes for most people here so you shouldn't expect lots of story talk, even in the OT.
Personally I appreciate that they don't do drawn out cut scenes, everything is quick and to the point, as said in another thread they're short enough that I don't skip them and that's a big plus.

So far 9/10

My only real complaint this far is the strange Scarlet and Volt quest segments where you play Gears of War all of a sudden. Right there it's a 3/10, at best. That wasn't needed at all. But you get bonus stuff from it so I still do them.

Great news! At first Stellar Blade don't have appeal to me, but after insist a little bit, I just loved the game. Get the platinum trophy as well.

This game is hardly appealing in China, and Sony fully localize the game for them.

Asian games follow different pattern due to China effect, you can't compare dynamics of west focused late PC ports and east focused (anime) late ports.

The combat and music in this game are really good. I've pointed that out several times. The people saying it's only popular due to the hot girl are projecting. There are other games with pretty girls that don't do as well. Also, why does this game get flak for that anyway? There aren't any sex scenes in this. Compare that with all the sex you can have in other games. Dragon Age, Witcher, Baldurs Gate, etc.

It succeeded because it has great combat, music, graphics, and polish. It didn't release in an unfinished buggy state. It's a great 8/10 game that is only held back by the forgettable story.

And btw, it took a long time for Yoko Taro to release a critically acclaimed game. There were a series of flawed and rough around the edges games he made before he got to Nier Automata. Kim Hyung Tae made one of the most successful gacha mobile games, and then made Stellar Blade, which critically and commercially started at a much higher place than Yoko Taro did when he made Drakenguard and Nier.
