Anyone have some recommendations on stocks under $10 right now? I put some money into Sirius XM which was probably dumb (speculative), but I've been surprised at some of the advancements of their technology and I think they are planning a big new revamp of their online presence.
Apple's days are far from numbered, IMO. I doubt the Apple Watch will cause big waves since it's a supplementing accessory, but their upcoming foray into automobiles is definitely something to watch out for.
I think we are entering weird times. So many things are happening; oil prices collapse, ME chaos expanding and also in North Africa, USD and Euro historical movements, Russia/Ukraine, China slow down, etc. etc. It's more uncertainty than I can remember in a long time if not ever.
Lest us not forget Nintendo going mobile. Dark times ahead.
Fed is dovish on raising rates. USDCAD down to 1.265 from 1.28
CAD will tank again eventually, no way around it, housing bubble will really bust.
I've been messing with the Robinhood app if you have an Iphone. Its basic but trades are free if you're just looking to buy stocks.
also, what is the recommended starting out to invest? i am leaning towards long term as well.
If I had spare cash I would try to bottom fish on DDD (stop below todays low or add more for long term players). Same for TSLA
The Invest for Retirement thread in OT would be a good place to start for long term planning. Forget about the bank advisors.
sorry, what i meant was what's the recommended amount to start om investing?
yeah, actually, one of the first stocks i wanna invest in is ddd.
With a few days to go until Apple Watch preorders open, I really am wondering if I should increase my holdings of AAPL in advance of this event or sit tight and wait. The other investors seem unsure too, Apple's stock has been pretty flat for the last month or so with no big moves one way or the other as everyone is waiting to see what happens on April 10th when Apple invents the watch and then on April 24th when Apple's new invention officially goes on sale.
"to the moon"
My returns so far this year suck.
I'm up 3.66% on the year according to Google Finance. I mean... if that rate keeps up for me it'd be a great year I'd say as we're only about 1/3rd of the way through.
Thank you China for the rebound, and the Fri crash too.
It sounds insane, but I'm up like 183% YTD. Down 15% from Wed though.

wtf? What kind of money are we talking here? 10? 100? 1000? that's... impressive
Talking about several years of salary kind of money. But I don't want to pretend I'm some ultra genius trader, these kinds of gains are new territory to me for sure. I'll say that luck and timing, with emphasis on the latter, is sooo key in investments.

Wow, congratz! What were your top positions/best deals?
Up 4%, started around February. Really lucky in the first few weeks and I thought this is so easy but was hit by reality in April. Still a lot to learn.
Damn, did you get into VLTC early or something? Great returns man
I think I've asked this before, but I can't remember:
For my mortgage, I have the option to pay just the interest on my loan (and taxes/insurance obviously); I can choose to pay $0 principal. My interest rate is 3.75%. With the tax deductions, I calculate that it works out to effectively 2.8%.
How silly would it be to take the extra principal payments I'm making now and putting them in investments?
Not sure, but in my case they have no effect. My home loan is through my Grandpa's real estate investment company, which is why I have the option of not paying principal.I'm not sure how it works, but do mortgage payments/non-payments count against your credit?
