Eminem

goddamit, Griese!
I think I'm going to put Korn's cover of Another Brick in the Wall on mine, just so everyone can hear the worst thing ever recorded.

Whew. Am I relieved I'm not in your group! Although I'm pretty sure Beck's "MTV Makes Me Wanna Smoke Crack" is going on mine, so to the folks in my group DON'T SAY YOU WEREN'T WARNED.

Savant
whoops - this is a little late but i just found yoshifumi's tracklist

sufjan stevens - holland
when sufjan comes to town next month i'm going to kiss him... on the penis
4.00/4.00 just like my gpa lolzz

belle and sebastien - fox in the snow
i've always felt that b & s is gay music for gays, but i didn't mind this song. it was almost good; a little too kitschy for me though. the poet heart cries salty tears for how shallow popular folk runs these days
2.34/1023.41023....4

mike doughty - the only answer
this song blew me away. it still blows me away. i grabbed the album (of course) but this seems to be the best song on the album. what a best track though. oh man. i was never into soul coughing but i'll probably grab some now.
1293.3333333333333333333BAR

casiotone for the painfully alone - jeanne, if you're even in portland
another song i liked and promptly pirated the shit out of. i was disappointed that it generally didn't get deeper than a fat nasal guy and a casiotone but symphonies for subway cars is quite good.
A+

built to spill - big dipper
i like the song and i would totally toss doug's salad, but i thought the transition wasn't so good.
5/10*100%

the rentals - friends of p
live 105 played the shit out of this song in the mid 90s. i still have terrible 'nam-like flashbacks when i hear it.

thankfully you included the greatest rentals song in the world (later)
0/0.00

wilco - heavy metal drummer
let us never speak of wilco again

the vandals - the new you
i don't remember what this track sounds like. i don't think i liked it that much or i couldn't distinguish between the nofx track and it or i don't know something like that

tl;dr i have no clue 90/5

nofx - take two placebos and call me lame
lame

weezer - i just threw out the love of my life
if i were to have a contest (in my brain) for greatest song ever written, it would be between this song (which is and will always be by the rentals, even if rivers did write it), out the window by the violent femmes, and a monkey playing banjo. the contest could be taped reality tv style with smoke machines and dramatic lighting and everything. i don't know who would win, but it would be a damn close fight.
ONE MILLION OUT OF ONE MILLION MINUS ONE

alkaline trio - another innocent girl
alkaline trio is like kryptonite for me. i listen for a minute and forget all about lo-fi, experimental, noise... all i can think about is teenage girls cutting themselves in the second floor bedroom of their parents' townhouses while the extremely excellent hooks and uniformly distorted power chords of this track plays. that, my friends, puts the hot in HOTTTTT.
5/5

tomoyasu hotei - get high
i don't get high (or low) anymore, sorry

okkervil river - the war criminal rises and speaks
lambtron tells me that when he met will sheff he went "you're the best motherfucking songwriter ever man" and shook his hand. if he ever gets to this coast and i meet him i'm going to do the same thing but instead of shaking his hand i'm going to steal his brain and run away
5555555555

architecture in helsinki - spring 2008
i liked this track a lot, i think. it's a nice instrumental footer.

overall - 6 yoshis/1 egg

really, i liked this mix a lot - my favorite by far. i'd review your other disc too right now yosh but i'm not familiar enough with it to do it blind just off the track listing

Heh. I think I've got the songs for my double CD already... Anyone else moving along quickly?

i'm still pulling songs. the iPod is always set to random, and when I hear something that would be good for the mix i take note.

I'm thinking about stuff. I have about 4 tracks or so that are definites. We'll see how the rest of it shakes out, but the final product should be delightful.

The recommended date to get your mixes out is July 30th, with a super-"get it out"-deadline set for August 14th. Generally reviews should be down within two weeks of receiving a mix. Of course, exceptions can be made in certain cases.

El papa - The e-mail has been sent.

I'm going to start getting my mixes together next week. I'm working late nights this week, which is my usual computer time.

Burn it as an Audio CD :)

People use a lot of different terminology (I remember arguing with someone that the Xbox didn't play MP3s, and he "proved" it did by sticking in an audio CD he had burned from MP3s) and such, as long as it plays in a standard CD players, it's fine.

Sorry I missed the exchange -- I was away for two weeks, and apparently things got finalized in my absence. I guess I'll have to participate in the next one...?

This link does NOT get leaked outside of this thread. Agentdormer was nice enough to share his bandwith, so lets not fuck him over.

You know, I was just thinking how GAF is open to the public...

Well, we just gotta trust people.

I just pulled it up. Did you get an error code?

Also - yeah, anyone in the mix exchange should feel free to download the mixes, but just be smart and don't link it outside the gaming-age forums.

I have almost no clue what I'm going to do for this exchange. I'm thinking of doing an all-post-rock mix but I don't want my group members to be falling asleep while listening to my music of choice. :p

My mixes will be sent out approx next wednesday. :) It's a double CD, so I'm not sure how to package it. Anyone know if you can purchase double CD cases? Otherwise I just have to use two different jewel cases.

Yeah, so far I've only seen them online...but I don't want to buy 200, and I'd like to get them in the city. I'm not sure where to look, but I'd like to find them. Thanks.

The GAFOT mix, as I like to call it, is slowly taking shape. Some Morphine, some Bonnie "Prince" Billie, some Gary Jules, and a dash of Lou Reed thrown in for good measure. You three fuckers are in for a treat, this may bloat into two cds: one of organic and one of electronic nature. I'm toying with ideas and alcohol, and that's all I can say for now.

We may overlap on that Bonnie "Prince" Billie stuff. On a different note, I just discovered (and promptly ordered) the new LuckyPierre (not Lucky Pierre) CD for mix usage.
