He really should before the liberalcommies repeal the 2nd amendment after November. How can you live in America without a gun? Boggles the mind.

I don't know why you keep insisting on just buying one. Usage is situational l so a variety should be purchased.

Phi Brain S2 ep 20

-Klondike is actually real.
-Mizerka and Doubt are a couple?
-Nonaha shown with her hair down only when it involved freecell? Sweet I can almost smell a NTR!

Actual plot development and sudden reveals? My mind can't take it!

oh silly me i can't watch this ATM ...

seems like i need to watch this as soon as i get home

I still can't believe you almost bailed on a random comment about Nichijou as opposed to the millions of useless posts on waifus, cute girls, yuri, boobs, hentai, etc.

First, I wouldn't say that I "almost bailed"; despite my irritation I was not intending to exit the thread on a longer-term basis as I did earlier this summer.

Second, as you might imagine, it was not Ultimadrago's post alone which raised my ire but a combination of several posts on that page; his post was what I was intending to respond to specifically until I decided to forget about it.

Third, it was not the subject of the post that I took issue with (I am a fan of Nichijou, after all); rather, its manner. "Your argument is invalid because you like something I don't" is one of the lowest kinds of argumentation, a way of deflecting criticism without engaging it and turning discussions into wars between different camps of fanboys. (There was a similar post nearby about Hyouka and Kids on the Slope.) I also had a problem with the aggressive tone of the post, particularly the use of ironic quotation marks around "haters", as if to say that anyone who said they didn't like Nichijou was being disingenuous about their opinions. There's nothing that shuts down a discussion faster than claiming that the opposing party must be lying.

Junk about boobs and "waifu" arguments - while I'm not fond of them, they're filler nonsense that's relatively easy to ignore. When basic civility and rational, reasoned discourse gets thrown out, however, that is not so easy to ignore. Perhaps I am asking too much of the Internet, and I know there are far worse places in that regard than here, but it's frustrating when I know that many people here are capable of better things. I would certainly like to help create an atmosphere here that encourages constructive discussion as opposed to one which encourages us to tear each other down.

Sounds awful.
Is that the NeoGAF tagline?

I've since learned that people play roles and it's just easy to play them. Combine that with the fact that you also have people talking about the same things over and over again, and it's easy for me to expect jman to shit on K-On and for me to, as a conditioned response, say K-On is good.

I've made dozens of posts explaining why I like K-On, but I think we're past that point now. lol

The toothbrushing was an important component yes, but it was still only 1/3rd of an all-around great episode all things considered!

08/21: Round 1, Group B, Day 4

B04
1st 203 Chris Yukine @ Senki Zesshou Symphogear
2nd 151 Nori @ Hidamari Sketch
3rd 68 Sae @ Hidamari Sketch

B08
1st 190 Run @ A Channel
2nd 185 Ritsu Tainaka @ K-On!
3rd 121 Ami Kawashima @ Toradora!

B12
1st 222 Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke @ Strike Witches
2nd 140 Ichika Takatsuki @ Ano Natsu De Matteru
3rd 94 Mako Someya @ Saki

-----------------------------------------------

And with that anemic day of voting -- which goes to show you that some types of forehead moe are better than others, and that infighting will accomplish nothing -- it's a one day break before moving on to group C.

edit: It should be noted that, had Ritsu won, the next round would have had an Azusa vs. Ritsu vs. Akari matchup, leaving the former two in danger of suffering a vote split just like the Hidamaris did, clearing the path for Akarin. So this might improve K-On's chance via Azunyan in the long run.

Or maybe Akari will just style on Azusa and Run anyway. Who knows.

I still don't know how to use IRC.
There are simple-ish web applications like Mibbit for people who don't want to install IRC software. Basically, you have a bunch of rooms (channels) for people who are logged into a specific server to chat in. It's nothing more complex than chatrooms hosted on a server instead of peer-to-peer chatrooms like Skype/IM. As long as you have a nickname, a server, and a channel in mind, things should be pretty smooth if you use a web application.

What an awful birthday! Happy birthday Ritsu...

While Voices is impressive for a one-man production, the limits of that do show in the roughness of its character visuals and animation. Later Shinkai productions look much better.

Yeah, although Shinkai isn't really interested in character design or sakuga animation. He's all about the background art.

Ah, that was just him? I can respect that. Something about one man labors of love leave me feeling much more forgiving.

Well, he didn't do the music himself. But he made all the animation on his Mac, and he and his wife dubbed the characters before it got a professional release with real voice actors.

Saimoe voting is so complex. I expected a world of cute girls and sportsmanship and found politics, upsets, betrayals, and revenge!

Maybe he has all those people on ignore.

Who doesn't like Time Dilation porn? It's a nice science fiction trope anyway and is basically the science fiction equivalent of the WW1/2 letters to a love at home type story.

Well it is nearly pure, undiluted :firehawk.

How animeGaf has driven the perception of anime into the ground.

eg. AotF v. AotY2011

It seems unlikely that a single thread could drive the perception of anime into the ground. It seems far more likely that the thread simply reflects the current state of anime, or rather, the kind of people who actively wish to discuss anime at length on NeoGAF.

I will discuss all sorts of shows when prompted.
I do have my favorite topics though >_>

I'd certainly be interested in seeing another "Anime of the Forever" poll, since the last one was five years ago, though I have to wonder how much recency bias would play into such a thing.

[...]It has some flaws though such as early CG usage[...]

I don't mean to be a pernickety asshole but I guess I'm going to be one anyway.

The quality of the CG in the movie doesn't have anything to do with it being 'early CG'. This is 2002, afterall. It's just a result of the fact that the director made the entire movie on his Apple G4, so that's the result you get.

An example of truly early GC can be found in the 1983 Goglo 13 movie. BASK in it's glory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJxPjUo5-cI

I was in the middle.

I wouldn't say I love it myself, but I thought it was generally good. Really liked the art style and animation...I do like a lot of KyoAni's work for that reason.

Glad you didn't completely bail, hosannainexcelsis. I really do like reading your posts and insights. I'm not very good at articulating why I like or dislike anything, so it's helpful to see how you and the others here go about it.
