Animation this episode was off the hook.

Really like how fights in hxh are more rock paper scissor mechanic then power levels and also about wit & the way you use your abilities.

Can't wait for the 2 on1 show down with the royal guards, they still seem out of the students league (gon, killua, knuckle & shoot).

Blood Lad Episode 10 The Dark Hero Rises [END]
tumblr_mstjh1NjUN1qbxqfpo1_500.png

Kind of an awkward way to do an ending episode (it didnt even feel like one, honestly). But at least everyone that had a role had some sort of screentime, and more Yoshida made it alright in my book.

Overall, felt extremely faithful to the source material so as a reader it was slightly hard at times to stay interested. Though hearing voices to some of the most cherished characters and seeing the action did make it worthwhile. Also the nice coloring style given made it stand out. Will most likely buy it when Viz releases the BD here next year. 7/10.
This was a 10 episode joint? The anime industry must be dying. :p

Awesome. Yeah, I am enjoying the show. Might write a final impression once I finish it. The only criticism I have for the show is that some of the comedic gags is inconsistent throughout. I mean they never use the quirky moments constantly such as the Inamis Fear of Men. Sometimes she beats the crap just because her ''phobia'' and other times, she just doesn't

But yeah, an enjoyable series.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica 1-7

I expected this to be a very Sailor Moon-ish moe anime. And while it is similar in some ways, it's a lot more brutal and serious than I was expecting for a show about a bunch of lolis. I'll check out the rest of the series later. I think right now I just need to focus on trying NOT to buy the Ultimate Madoka figure. That thing looks fucking huge.

So you were expecting Sailor Moon... and then you got Sailor Moon?

Inami is ok. the scared of men shtick gets old though.

Attack on Titan 8

Tried to pick this up again, and I remembered why I dropped it in the first place.
The script is horrible, 90% of the dialogue consists of repeating events the viewer JUST saw, or screaming about their fear of death they've been screaming about for the past 7 episodes. Everyone's saying the same damn thing over and over again, so you can basically describe every character as, "he/she is a soldier, and he/she is fuckin' sacred."

Yeah, yeah, anime has a tendency to be repetitive in its dialog, but it's never this bad, at least from what shows I've watched.

In that regard, the second season doesn't focus on Inami and her androphobia as much. Not only is it toned down, it's used more often for comedy in the second season. I ended up liking Inami a lot more because of how she was portrayed in the second season. Maybe you'll see what I mean, lol.

I wasn't really expecting anything. I've just heard people talking about it and gave it a try is all. Though I think if anything, I expected more rainbows and lollipops going in.

Probably the best way to go in.

Although reiterating that Sailor Moon isn't sunshine and rainbows either regardless of the format.

Ponytails > twintails

Ehhhhh, I think in general I prefer twintails. I think the ponytail might suit this particular character better, though.

Shingeki no Kyojin 22

In this episode: some idiots don't know how to follow orders.

Or, you know, common sense. "Let's see, which is more important,
the bodies of the dead or the safety of the living
?"

Well, I'll say, there are two shoujo mangas turned movies about fujyoshis getting boyfriends and how their boyfriends freak out about being put into gay pairings. lol

But really, I have to imagine there's a reason why Comiket separates the BL stuff and the "normal" stuff. Although maybe that's more for the protection of the women than the men? :p
You also have to remember that otaku guys are afraid of actual girls.

More like, Kadokawa wants to cut a disc's worth of episodes (all 2 of them) from their manga/LN promotions that tend to sell poorly instead of reducing their highest-in-the-industry anime disc prices. Other Kadokawa examples: Prisma Illya, Mondaiji Tachi, Is This a Zombie? Of The Dead.

But why make the anime at all if it's presumed to be a bomba?

That is good to know. as Cuj said, the shtick got very old rather quickly.

Makai Ouji: Devils and Realist Episode 10

Best intermission episode in ages. Hilarious all the way through with William Twining and his dark aura. Everyones booths for the cultural festival was perfect and had so many x William moments
Sytrys was so believable even and Dantalions made it seem like he was really going to confess to him.
. Though what did Nathan do, was it really suggestion that British culture is
dressing up as a maid there

But why make the anime at all if it's presumed to be a bomba?

As Dresden points out, Kadokawa doesn't really care if the anime itself sells; they care about drawing attention to and increasing the sales of the source material that they publish. In at least Mondaiji Tachi's case, they were successful - the anime didn't sell much but LN sales saw a big boost.

In regards to the promotion of the manga/LN, how do animators feel when they know that's what their project is ultimately for?

"I get to eat tomorrow"? Most anime is made to promote something else, whether it be manga, LN, figures, music, whatever, because that's how it finds funding. Animators and directors who are invested in animation as an artform will try to make the work noteworthy beyond whatever the producers want it to sell; those who are just trying to make ends meet won't.

It's right there in the post:
Then why make the discs at all? Then again, I guess there are suckers everywhere.

I guess because it's Sunday, but somehow I have come to understand all the weirdos who hate Skyler from Breaking Bad.
Now I have to wash away the stink of misogyny because I find Benten completely unsympathetic and undeserving of any redemption that the ending will presumably offer.

I thought sometimes other forms of release are pursued, like DVD/BD Boxes instead of single discs (think hxh moved on to that style, after the first forty episodes, or Gatchaman Crowds being released in only DVD/BD box, Bakuman...) or either just making rental copies of discs available (think Area no Kishi did this, maybe Ginga E kickoff too?).

I haven't paid too much attention to the weird releases... but something like shounen shows make sense as box sets I suppose, since they go on indefinitely and they probably know that no one is going to buy a single two episode disc of a 100+ episode show at a time.

Not real.

And it's not like the original Genshiken didn't have some fujoshi fantasies.
Yeah, but Ogiue was the "weirdo" of the bunch. Sasa x Mado sort of happened at the end, but I feel like the focus was more on them making straight/yuri porn for Comiket.

Of course, it's been ages since I watched the end of S2 or read volume 8/9.

Uchouten Kazoku 10

Well, I do believe that was the sound of what is referred to in the common parlance as "shit getting real".

So that Ebisugawa Souun is a massive ass, huh? Not that I'm any more surprised by this than Yasaburou was, but still. What an ass. I feel even more sorry for Kaisei for being born into such a detestable family now than I already did.

Index movie

SPAAACEEEEE

Fun fun movie, even though i don't really dig index universe too much. Fun how they somehow slap every character in there somehow. And when did Stylles get so many lolis?

too many waifus.

tons of good 2d explosions and what not. shame the cg dances were going at like 4 fps.

I wish mondaiji was longer :(

True. Ohno has those posters on her wall and everything!

Hunter X Hunter 95.

That was awesome, really pumped for what is coming. Seeing Gon in badass mode is rare.

The animation was really awesome, even I could appreciate it. Such a great series.

(And single ponytail for me, thank you).

Check mark means "wrong" in Japan. Correct answers are marked with a circle.
That actually makes sense on hindsight...

No no no. Hover bodies usually happen towards the edge of the screen. Not referring to the people standing in the grass, referring to our heroes peeping in.
God-dammit Toei.

Yeah, didn't notice it during my first run through of this particular series, but with this being a re-run, on top of experience with Doremi, I'm pretty much putting more attention into what's there basically.
Doremi has made you look at lower body every once in a while rather than just upper body.

If you haven't worked on animation or digital composition yourself, you shouldn't really be casually dismissing the work that goes into them like that.
In this case it definitely looks like a composition fault. I'd say it should have been easy to spot but then again considering Toei's schedule on these shows I think that they probably decided there was no time to fix it. This being a re-air of the show though they should have corrected it in the meantime.
In the case of Doremi it was probably a problem with overall communication between the animators and the people assembling the frame rather than the backgrounds being missalligned though.

Off-Topic, but I started watching Working due to some recommendation here and its fantastic. Is the second season as good?
The second series is great. JUST LOOK AT THE PV THEY MADE FOR IT!

Ponytails > twintails

I don't know if it's right to assume that there will be any kind of redemption, even though that would feel like the logical end point for her character. Either way, I feel that it was established that Benten already took part in the hot pot ceremony so I don't know why people considered her sympathetic up till now!

BGBW

Maturity, bitches.
I don't get the title change. How can I talk about tiddlywinks when there is not tiddlywinks anime. Does the mod want this thread to die?

If I recall correctly, the rebroadcast of Heartcatch is in a higher resolution than TV Asahi's original broadcast, right? If so, I could easily see this being an issue that cropped up when Toei was preparing the higher resolution. I don't have the original broadcast around to compare though.
