A Super Mario Bros. 3 level. Longer than the others, with extensive use of sublevels. They are pretty damn awesome btw. We need checkpoints!

Yoshi is pretty useful in this level. The cape... Not so much. The ending is a bit hard without certain help...

Really fun and had plenty of diverse areas! Found 2 of the three, heh. (Is there a way out of the pit if you miss the jump with Yoshi?)

No. But maybe I should've placed a pipe there.

It's time to play some GAF levels now. So far I was busy with creating levels and doing 10- and 100-Mario challenges.

Spent hours on these levels today. My first five levels, themed as a whole entire world basically.

Hope you guys enjoy them cause I enjoyed making them. The first level I'm proud of cause I made something unique with the base tools.

The levels have a 0% clear rate, except for Death Pipes & Stairs at 1.98%. Beat them for me!
I beat all of them except Squid Maze, just can't figure out how you're supposed to get through the upmost part without the Bloobers hitting you.


I also made a new level, Air Force Zero: F834-0000-001F-2D96
Decided to make it easier than my previous ones :D

My first five levels! I'd love to see what you think. Apparently I have a liking for safe zones with power-up spawners, there's at least one in every level below.


My first level, only first-boot elements. I'm quite happy with it, but a player reported an error
where the koopa shell would disappear before causing the intended effect if you don't follow it
. I tested that particular possibility before publishing it and it worked fine. Tell me if it happens to you too!


There are actually two ways to get to the top of the flagpole. You can try to find one of them, or you can chicken out.


Argh, the screenshot is the end of the level! Anyway, I've been told to make a longer version of this level, which means they liked it, I guess?

My idea was that Mario finally made it to Bowser's castle, so Bowser is trying to fend him off by sending his soldiers after him. I took inspiration from Super Mario Bros., but I used the New Super Mario Bros. theme, because I find it to be aesthetically pleasing. I tried to keep true to the Mario style, so that means there's nothing too over the top.

Let me know what you guys think!

Aw man, I just played the old one. I'll check the newer version tomorrow, but I really liked your level. I actually downloaded it see how to get into the pipe, was way too tired after 10 hours of playing to find it myself, plus I hadn't tried dl'ed a level yet.

I'm completely burnt out of Mario for the day, can barely focus on the game and my eyes are killing me.

Nice plate-forming! But there was a little too much enemy blocks.

started the game last night with a friend. Had a fantastic time playing user-created stages.

Today I started with the level creator myself and I find it very intuitive and good, even though (or because) I don't have all the tools yet.


Next step: beating Gameexplain's Super Meat Boy Level!

I haven't tried it yet, but good to know. I assume you are talking about the extra hop in the air typical for U. Right?

EDIT: Ok, It's not that hard, but it was a lot of fun. I loved it!

Yeah. There's only a couple of places where it's not helpful, but for the most part it is. Where it's not helpful, you just need to be quick as you're not in danger otherwise.

A couple things I'd change.

At the falling blocks part is there anyway to avoid the thwomp? He gets me every time.

The bowser platform is REALLY small leading to some frustration at the end.

They've had more time to create devilish things. That said, regardless of nationality, if someone's Mii has: a.) spiky hair, b.) sunglasses, c.) a smug grin, or d.) all of the above, I automatically reach to skip the level. There's a difference between "difficult" and "not worth the time". Something like Super Mario Boy is difficult. Something like "lol trolled you XD by xyolo420x" showing up in 100 Mario Challenge is "not worth the time".

My Mii has a "smug grin" (I think) but I don't make troll levels :D

Thanks for playing daakusedo :) Have you uploaded any levels yet?

I made sure there's always a correct timing to take the jump in speed run or otherwise, no impossible set pieces (or need to stop in speed run), so glad to see you cracked the timing! You can either speed through that part; break the block and run underneath; wait for the opening jump; or go over the whole set piece using blocks high overhead :) There's a few skill tricks in the stage that I enjoy as well.

Did you finish the stage in 20 seconds or less?


I didn't pay attention to the timer but I can say I've never stopped so I guess I did it.
I bounce on the koopa and it makes me go over the two pirhannas.

I have a level uploaded, you can see the code in a previous post or go on my profile through the who play your level part.
 
Just realized,in my first SMB3 level it's possible to sprint from the beginning to the map of the end without stopping as long as your good at aiming your jumps! An unexpected side effect of thinking the design through I guess!

So, I spent most of yesterday working on my first stage. My original inspiration was that one jump in Super Mario Bros., but the stage has evolved quite a bit since. After my first upload, I realized it sucked and spent most of today perfecting it. I mainly made it possible to beat the entire level without stopping – if you know what you're doing – and it made the whole thing so much better. I love it when I can do that in the actual Mario games, so it's definitely something I'll implement in future stages.

Of course, I probably overlooked something, so I'd love to hear your feedback, MarioGaf!

Maybe it's an idea if people just post the 1 or 2 levels they're really proud of per week? This thread is getting swamped and I can't imagine many people playing all of them.

So I wasn't the only EU person still finishing up levels at 3AM...
Anyway, just tackled this stage, it's amazing how quick you can blast through with a bit of confidence, despite it seeming overwhelming with the hazards it's not actually too tricky to deal with when it comes down to it, just about the right length for the concept as well.
This was also where I discovered the hard way that SMB3 Bowser retains his Bowser Bomb/Ground Pound ability.

But I completely fumbled the pipe hidden P block section, I'll never know what waited in those ? blocks.

I liked the bit somewhat near the end where the three horizontal path platforms are stacked above each other with just the right timing to drop from one to the next before getting bladed, must've been fun getting the platform timing to work correctly there
Visually it's a bit all over the place though I think you've got some overgrown vibe going on here so the vines work, alas I couldn't use them to sneak up over the top at the very start.
Not too tricky so I wouldn't worry about difficulty.
As for more constructive feedback, I suppose sometimes less can be more, there's all sorts of moving platforms dotted about in the early stages and some seem a bit redundant
