Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Miiverse Update Thread XVI

That slot's still reserved for Pichu.

I'm still voting Dark Pit. He is a clone in this game, and he's a clone in Uprising. He is literally a recolor - in Japan he's just "Black Pit." There's absolutely no reason why he should be in as anything other than an alternate costume for Pit with voice changes or maybe an Assist.

You have no idea how bad broadband proliferation is in the US, do you?
Even if it works now, I don't trust Nintendo to keep the content available online long-term. DLC is whatever, but they need a system link option, or Amiibo content unlocks, or director's cut version of the game or something to turn DLC into real content.

What the hell...

Have we seen the FSes for Ness/Wario?

I adore Uprising so my bias is probably showing when I say Dark Pit doesn't annoy me beyond not integrating the stuff Pit got cut from Brawl. He's really only obnoxious when you consider the six veteran cuts and even then, DLC yadda yadda yadda.

Dr. Mario annoys me way more, though if he's Melee Mario he's somewhat vindicated IMO. Has anybody played as him yet? If he still has FLUDD then it was totally pointless not having him as a costume for Mario like he probably started off as.

Don't worry, he has Dr. Tornado.

Is there any way for us to figure out what kind of stat differences there are (if any) between the Pits before Sakurai mentions it in the next PotD?

I wonder how Dark Pit differs mechanically from Pit? Even if there are only slight variations, there still has to be something or else he wouldn't have gotten his own spot on the roster (like Lucina).

Is his Final Smash the only thing that's different? I wonder. Looking forward to playing him all the same, though!

I definitely wouldn't go that far, but this is definitely the best roster the series has seen, even in spite of the clones and the cuts.

I seriously can't think of a fighting game that comes even close to matching it, except for maybe Ultra Street Fighter IV. That has a pretty fantastic roster as well.

Even the worst internet I've come across nowadays in the UK and Italy still manages to download several MB of data with an acceptable speed. I doubt that the character files will be bigger than a few 100 MB each, if even that.

There's our difference. I couldn't care less about a characters moveset so long as it relates to their game and they don't completely suck. An interesting moveset isn't going to make me use a character I don't like (Robin for example).
No, our difference is that I accept characters on their own merits instead of worrying about the extremely subjective issue of who is more deserving. I just don't understand how someone can't like ANY of the newcomers unless it's just a matter of being unfamiliar with them. But to me, I like being unfamiliar with some characters because it gives me an opportunity to learn about new games and series

Then play more Nintendo games?

He plays like Melee Doc Mario

I'm pretty sure his Up Smash is the same as Brawl Pit, and I think both his standard B and side B have different properties.

His side b with the electric arm thing seems to hit multiple times unlike Pit's which seems like it's just one big hit, hard to say from the footage I saw.

Out of curiosity, why?

What is his Final Smash BTW.

I'M FINISHED!

Um exCUSE me Sakurai but CLEARLY the best choice for Smash Bros would be my fav niche character HOWEVER you are clearly INCOMPETENT and
Dark Sakurai cuts your dreams.

It's really hard to tell from just the footage we've had, especially since Smash 4 Pit moves already look pretty different from Brawl Pit moves.

I did hear that his side special uses a different arm weapon.

I thought I had heard somewhere that he's a tad heavier/slower and hits a bit harder, as well as his specials having different properties.

So, which of the newcomers do you guys think will NOT make it to the next game?

Lucina (unless she stays relevant) and Dark Pit (he should leave and never come back). In terms of actual newcomers, maybe Robin, but I doubt it. Same goes for Mega Man - he's a potential cut, but he should stay and probably will.

Nope, it's still the bite.
One step forward, one step backward I guess. I didn't like the shoulder barge's really really bare-bones implementation in Brawl, but the closest thing to a trademark move being completely absent from SSB4 is probably worse.

At least he isn't moving like a weird humanoid Mr. G&W as much. That always really annoyed me and I never got what it was even a reference to.

Guessing Ganondorf's basically a less shit version of Brawl 'dorf?

his final smash involves the dark pit staff i think someone mentioned is similar to zelda/shiek?

i think dark pit/lucina and dr mario will probably get cut im guessing bowser jr will get as well, hopefully robin will stay and since ike did im guessing he/she will and maybe wiifit trainer?
im hoping lucina stays though but thats just my own bias lol

I feel like anyone who goes into a Smash roster with the feeling of "I want ____" is setting themselves up for disappointment. The only attitude that ever works is "Show me something cool Mr Sakurai"

PS: It's okay when I do it because I only do it with regards to veterans :p

I think the best way it has been described is Dark Pit is to Pit as Roy was to Marth. Slower, heavier, more powerful attacks. Probably doesn't have Pit's tippers either.

Oh! Well that's quite a bit better than what I was expecting after seeing Dark Pit and Lucina in action.

I still would've just preferred Sakurai admitting nobody likes FLUDD, giving Mario his tornado back and just making the Dr. a costume swap that works like Alph, but at least I'll have a reason to actually use Doc now.

Nice. I'm intrigued!

Because Dark Pit is a great, sympathetic character and I suspect most (not all) of the people who are so salty about him have not played Kid Icarus: Uprising or didn't like it. He's really cool in Uprising and it's made very clear that he's much more than just a mirror image of Pit.

I can't help but laugh at all these people being so salty about Dark Pit while they hype up Dr. Mario and lament Wolf's being cut in the same breath. Dr. Mario is literally Mario wearing a doctor's coat and is an actual, literal clone in every sense of the word. Dr. Mario is just getting a dumb pass because of his Melee alumni status and people are simply salty about Dark Pit in the exact same way they were salty about Wolf in Brawl. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I don't know exactly what Dark Pit's FS is, but I read that it utilizes his staff.

Sakurai still has time to make the definitive version even more definitivey.

Dr. Mario to be the best one. I don't remember Melee Dr. Mario much.. But did his Up-B only hit once? Because he does so in this, with a lot of knockback from.

I'm sure that Mario combo from Zero, replicated from Dr. Mario would kill.

I love the Kid Icarus franchise, especially the original, but I would rather have a real Ganondorf than Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, and Lucina.

I was joking with all my comments saying the Ice Climbers would still be in the game, surprised at some people getting so outlandish in their rage at their favorite characters not being in the game. The moment the roster leak was confirmed legit it should have been expected that was all we were getting.
