There we go! Oh what could have been in brawl...
And when can we expect sound-rips?
Dissapointment. Oh well, Serena is pretty cool.Don;t think that Pokemon trainer appears during Charizard's PT. So far only saw XY (both male & female) Trainer as trophy
Find Mii has a boss.So does Metal Face show up as a boss or hazard on Guar Plains or is that WiiU only? What stages besides Mega Man's even have bosses?
Sakurai has said before that he really likes Saki.So assuming Isaac is truly cut from the assist trophy list and isn't even a regular trophy, can someone explain the logic of keeping Saki from Sin & Punishment as an assist but not Isaac?
Fuck it, I'm just gonna put it out there:
(And I'm not saying this to troll fans or keep the hype up or whatever.)
I have a source who has been right about previous leaks and has worked on the European localization of the game. He says he has definitely seen moving models of Dixie, Ridley, Chorus Men and Mewtwo in the game and he's still confident that these four characters can be unlocked by linking the 3DS version to the Wii U version.
Now, I know how outlandish this sounds, and being a game journalist myself I'm taking this with a grain of salt myself, but we're talking about the guy who told me about the Bowser Jr. alts immediately after the ESRB leaks and has never been wrong about other stuff as well. Plus, the whole connectivity thing makes far too much sense, if only to get fans to buy both versions. *insert itprintsmoney.gif here*
Again, I swear on my soul that I'm not trolling. Time will tell. I thought Ridley was never gonna be in, but hey.
I'm happy with the characters we're getting, the rooster would be perfect if there were no clones.
What about the people who played and adored Uprising yet still think that Dark Pit was a bad idea? I really liked DP in Uprising because he was a fun subversion of the usual Dark clone character, but that doesn't mean that I actually want him as separate clone character in Smash.
Use McDonald's Wi-Fi.
I love the Kid Icarus franchise, especially the original, but I would rather have a real Ganondorf than Dr. Mario, Dark Pit, and Lucina.

Shofu stream started and they're talking about stuff. Was it confirmed that one of Ness' custom moves is PK Freeze? They said they saw someone mention it.
So, which of the newcomers do you guys think will NOT make it to the next game?
But Dr. Mario at least allows one to play as a Mario-type without FLUDD for those who don't like it, on top of having a different model. If Dark Pit had a different weapon/moves as well then I wouldn't be as bummed.I can't help but laugh at all these people being so salty about Dark Pit while they hype up Dr. Mario and lament Wolf's being cut in the same breath. Dr. Mario is literally Mario wearing a doctor's coat and is an actual, literal clone in every sense of the word. Dr. Mario is just getting a dumb pass because of his Melee alumni status and people are simply salty about Dark Pit in the exact same way they were salty about Wolf in Brawl.

To be fair, FLUDD is really, really situational and sort of pointless. A chance to play as Mario without it is more than welcome, though I'd just have preferred they scrapped the damn thing.Nice. I'm intrigued!
Because Dark Pit is a great, sympathetic character and I suspect most (not all) of the people who are so salty about him have not played Kid Icarus: Uprising or didn't like it. He's really cool in Uprising and it's made very clear that he's much more than just a mirror image of Pit.

I don't know exactly what Dark Pit's FS is, but I read that it utilizes his staff.
I really want this to be true, but at the same time I'm not sure I want to support that username when my old roommate who I was good buds with is Spanish.
#BELIEVE!

Fuck it, if Dark Pit gets to be a separate character, I want Dark Link, complete with creepy Water Temple stage:
Can we talk about how Sassy Ganondorf has become?
It's been confirmed, yes.

He didn't say anything about a roster. He's talking about the rooster. KappaThis logic makes no sense to me. You're saying the roster would be better if the extra characters were not included? How does the addition of extra characters who required fewer resources to put together and add just a little more variety to an already massive roster of favorites actively diminish the quality of the existing roster?
To me it's like saying that an entire breakfast is ruined because you got an extra piece of bacon on your plate.
At least we have a Dark Link alt with white hairFuck it, if Dark Pit gets to be a separate character, I want Dark Link, complete with creepy Water Temple stage:
Yes, PK Freeze is a custom move for Ness' PK Flash. I think Gema showed it.

I really want to see DHD-style Ridley now (aka based on the NES version with homages to Metroid NES), but I really don't think Ridley is anywhere near a required character.
So, basically, I'm not disappointed with this roster at all. In fact, I think it's better than what we got in Brawl. Why do I think this? I can explain it easily.
Many of the newcomers (excluding the two clones, Lucina and Dark Pit) take a page out of traditional fighting game characters. Rosalina & Luma fills the role of a puppet character, for example. This is really cool and important to notice because in every Smash game up to this point it never seemed like these characters were properly designed. As in, the characters were just given moves that would suit the character rather than the character being designed in-tandem with the moves. I'm not saying that every character in Smash isn't designed at all -- I mean, characters like Ice Climbers were designed a certain way for sure from their conceptualization. But some characters, like, just don't have this distinct feeling about them like some of these newcomers do.
Like, in the previous Smash games, there isn't really a character that was purposefully designed with projectiles in mind. Instead, you have characters that have projectiles but they aren't a focus of the character. I guess that's more of what I mean -- the characters in Smash aren't always designed with a focus in mind. And in some ways, this is what's really beneficial to Smash because it means you can play a character any way you want to and that's been a big thing about why the series has taken off as a competitive title for a lot of people. BUT having the focus for a particular character is a great way to make them distinguishable from the other characters in the game and I feel that's what Smash has been missing with its newcomers until this game.
While Little Mac might seem like a typical newcomer he really isn't. He's purposefully designed to be a ground-based fighter. That's his focus. Every other Smash character can play both on the air and on the ground but Little Mac actually has terrible aerial moves -- they actually designed him that way. When I saw that, I was surprised because I didn't believe Sakurai when he said Little Mac would be weak in the air. I thought when he said that he only meant recovery-wise and that Mac would at least have one decent aerial but from what we've seen since E3, none of his aerials are good. This means every Little Mac, for the most part, will have to play with a focus on the ground game because that's his design -- he was designed to be a character that fights on the ground.
And that's just one example. I could go into how Robin is what a ranged character in Smash should have been from the start or how Mega Man is going to have to control space with all his projectiles at his disposal (so in fighting game terms, probably a more zoning-based character in Smash) and how Shulk is a stance character which means every Shulk main is going to have to learn to use those stances to their advantage if they want to be good with him etc etc.
All the new characters, for the most part, are designed so well that it makes me want to try all of them at least once. In Brawl, I don't think I tried every newcomer once when I unlocked them. I think I gravitated more towards who I liked or was interested in (in this case, Wolf, Wario, Diddy Kong, etc.) and I never tried someone like ROB because not only was the character not exciting but neither was the accompanying move set. (Didn't help that he wasn't designed around the move set he had like every other Smash newcomer in Brawl).
I just feel that this set of newcomers is more distinguishable than any of the other sets of newcomers and that's what makes the roster actually exciting for me. It's a good roster not because of who the characters are, but... because of how they are designed and how they look like they'll play so far. Hell, Bowser Jr. is even exciting looking to play and I was initially not really interested in seeing him in the games -- but because of the clown car and his mech projectiles and stuff he looks like he'll be a very awesome and unique character in general.
That's pretty much what I think of the roster. Outside of that, I'm super pumped we got Doc specifically because of the Down B Tornado and drill kick Dair. Superior Mario is back.
It's been confirmed, yes.
Yes, PK Freeze is a custom move for Ness' PK Flash. I think Gema showed it.
New topic: Who do you want in the next Smash Bros.
Yes, it's hella early, but somebody has to bite the bullet and ask it. Or should the question be saved for when the DLC is confirmed?
No, our difference is that I accept characters on their own merits instead of worrying about the extremely subjective issue of who is more deserving. I just don't understand how someone can't like ANY of the newcomers unless it's just a matter of being unfamiliar with them. But to me, I like being unfamiliar with some characters because it gives me an opportunity to learn about new games and series
I think they're just slight variations of the same attacks.I thought he had a couple of different things? Apart from the FS, I mean.

Will laugh if they announce a Day 1 patch tomorrow that includes more ATs/Pokemon/character/stages. I mean, it's not going to happen. But I'd laugh.
and Dark Samus
I played Uprising and I get that Dark Pit is his own character, but that doesn't make him suited to be playable when he is literally a recolor. I'm not happy about Dr. Mario either, nor am I at all upset about Wolf's cut. I just don't think Dark Pit should've been given the title of playable character, and I'm completely confused as to Sakurai's logic when making Dark Pit, Lucina, and Dr. Mario their own characters while maintaining Alph as an alternate costume.
I played Uprising too, and I don't think Dark Pit is all that special. It's nice that he's not just literally a mute Pit shadow that fights you once or whatever. But just being a separate person doesn't mean you should be in Smash Bros. Waluigi is also not Pit, that doesn't mean he tried hard enough.I played Uprising and I get that Dark Pit is his own character, but that doesn't make him suited to be playable when he is literally a recolor. Someone needs to data mine the hell out of Smash 3DS asap.
Well if you want to believe the Mewtwo/Chorus Men/Dixie/Ridley thing adding those 4 into the roster would give us an even 9 x 6, if you also made Alph a full on clone you'd break that.
Okay... but how do those two things have literally even one thing to do with one another? I'd like to have a non-clone Ganondorf too, but that has literally nothing to do with clones from other series.
and Dark Samus
and Dark Bowser
and Dark Metaknight
and Dark (Shadow) Mario
Right? That new weave he got in Hyrule Warriors has changed him and I like it. I haven't seen any gameplay of him but if he's just how he was in Brawl I'm not really pressed since I used him a lot and enjoyed using him.
I'm super happy with the roster. A lot of characters I wanted to see this time made the cut; Villager, Palutena, Pac-Man, Bowser Jr., Mac, Robin. I'm just happy a lot of the new characters have something which makes them stand out and I think all of them are great additions. The only character I'm bummed out on is Dark Pit since it's kinda like "Why not?" since he'll make some people happy and he's fairly easy to beef up the roster, but I don't remember him having any standout moments in Uprising beside being the sulky "Shadow" character and being affectionately called Pittoo by Palutena. If all his moves incorporated another weapon set from the game that would've been awesome but oh well.
Otherwise, I'm actually happy to see the Doc back since I love his home series despite him being unchanged. Also, I was skeptical of the Duck Hunt concept but from the little gameplay I've seen I am so happy he made an appearance. I'm quite sad to see the 'Climbers go, but he keeps their spot warm for them quite nicely until next time. He's adorable, and had we not had it leaked beforehand, his inclusion would've been an awesome surprise for older fans.
I've got to say I'm a little disappointed Dixie Kong didn't appear this time since she seemed like a no brainer this time around with her reappearance in TF and the fact Sora were looking to include more females this time around, but again, there's always next time. I already got a load of awesome characters to learn to play as already.
All I'm waiting on now are the trophies of the characters I wanted to see in the roster. We already saw Krystal's and I was a little underwhelmed since they pulled the model from Assault again, but if I see some of the characters people wanted as trophies it'll help quell people's insatiable need for more as portrayed in those hilarious Smashboards posts.
