Switch 2 hate bubble

How long will we be digging ourselves out of this hate bubble? Is Switch 2 a masterpiece? No. Games like Zelda and Mario have longevity, Nintendo online is accused of missing party chat, leaderboards etc. hopefully those things are fixed, and making a console today is a commitment that requires updates, emotional responses like these past few days, justified criticism, there's no denying the system has optic issues and has torn gamers up. I still think it should have abandoned last generation looks but oh well.

i called it, and some people laugh at it.

People leaked stuff, people complained that nothing was being shown, Nintendo who are is the best position of their entire 100+ year existence threw out a few crumbs to placate issues not of their doing, but entitled people still raged.

Nintendo have zero reasons to show off new Zelda's or Smash or whatever people want to see. The Switch 2 will be sold out for a year just because of Mario Kart.

Is that lame and boring, yes but it's what's going to happen probably the entire generation. They don't need to advertise it, they will delay and put on hold all sorts of games because they don't need to rush this time.

Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams, and it was. It really was.
The situation was the can't win type. People said Nintendo should play safe, they do and people are still unhappy.

This was a Thursday announcement though, they usually go like that. If there are severe problems in momentum after the April Direct, then we can start to worry..

I see nothing wrong with the Switch 2. As a home console in dock mode it's not much different from a PS3, to PS4 etc as its just a games console that's more powerful than its predecessor.

As a handheld its not much different from a DS to 3DS in terms of its a handheld that looks similar to its predecessor, but is more powerful.

The Switch was awesome, so a more powerful version is exactly what I need.

Nintendo iterate on their previous successful design; people complains non-stop.

Nintendo decides to do something novel with their hardware; people complains non-stop.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't. Not helping matters when people look for leaks after leaks and setting themselves up for disappointment.

What are you even trying to say here man? I read it like 4 to 5 times and i just don't understand what you're talking about no offense. This entire post dosen't make alot of sense tbh.

Did they really announce anything more than the fact it exists? Seems people are mainly hating on the fact that they didn't get a massive info dump rather than the actual device which everyone knew what it was going to look like before the official launch.

The thing is that Nintendo revealed very little information about the device, creating a vacuum that would naturally be filled with assumptions and speculation, and the vast majority of people who discuss video games on the internet are miserable neurotics, so of course they are filling that vacuum with bitterness and pessimism.

It might be that I'm not a native English speaker, but I'm confused whether you want to hate on the console or if you want people to not hate on it?

My opinion is that Switch 2 is very much what I expected. I would have liked more power in it, but other than that I am perfectly fine with what we'll be getting. The next Mario and Zelda games are going to be amazing and I think we'll have excellent 6-7 years of Nintendo magic to look forward to on it. :lollipop_smiling_face_eyes:

What hate? Disappointment at worst perhaps when people choose to want to be surprised over getting an improved version of the thing they loved. I suppose it'll happen again when the Sw1 is still baseline when releasing games due to not wanting to alienate that shit ton of an established base. Either way, people will still gobble it up.

I don't hate it, but then again I don't feel much about it at all. I find it very hard to get excited about what looks like an extremely conservative upgrade.

What is there to get excited about until they show games? Once we see what first party devs are doing with the extra horsepower, there's not much to talk about. So far what we've seen looks sensible. My biggest complaint was seemingly addressed to some extent, which is joycon size.

Let's wait for the specs? I see the Switch 2 like the 3DS and the DS. An evolution, not a revolution. With backward compatibility, it will extend the life of currents Switchs and it will sell but not as fast as the first one. Not sure that Mario Kart is enough a system seller like BotW. Metroid 4 though... We'll see.

That being said, I have a SD OLED so I don't need it. The only game that would makes me buy one is FFTA3 and I don't expect that one to exist anytime soon (if it will even..).

Eh, hate is a strong word unless you are referring to a few, vocal commenters. The vast majority of reactuons are positive, and the negative responses aren't unreasonable. Most seem underwhelmed rather than actually negative, and most of those have directed at the reveal rather than the hardware itself.

The problem with Nintendo is how much people overhype it. It's the IP that makes the games sell well more so than the games actually being amazing. If a reskinned Breath of the Wild, that wasn't part of Zelda IP, released on PS4 or PC, it would sell 10x less and review in the 80s

the only real complaint anyone could give at this point is if they think it's too big. Other than that it's all just grifting, trolling, or lunacy.

I never understood this hate the Switch 2 is getting.
What do people expect Nintendo to do to produce a better Switch without breaking the bank or pull a Wii U disaster?

It’s GAF, the biggest reason they hate Switch 2 because of “GRAPHICS” and nothing else.

It same reason original Switch got lot of hate.

If you are in to gaming because of graphics then either get PS5 pro or PC, Nintendo is no longer interested chasing graphics race and they much better off because of it.

Is it hate? My impression is that there’s disappointment in the initial showcase, but that most are excited to purchase it either way.

I thought most people just wanted a more powerful switch? Why change what is working. Last thing we needed was Nintendo going the wacky Wii U route.
This. Switch 2 seems perfect to me, give me a little more oompf, some DLSS-capable hardware, and improve the ergonomics. Back-compat was a must too.

Seems like a home run to me, I'll be there day 1.
