Switch 2 hate bubble

What leakage?

Nobody really cares about the device itself, nor the form factor. Does anybody care about how the device looks?

Uh, the great tide of leaks that were coming out about Switch 2 before the announcement, leading to talk that internally Nintendo was extremely pissed, and might reveal it earlier than planned? Those leaks

The problem with Nintendo is how much people overhype it. It's the IP that makes the games sell well more so than the games actually being amazing. If a reskinned Breath of the Wild, that wasn't part of Zelda IP, released on PS4 or PC, it would sell 10x less and review in the 80s

Yeah there is a lot of nostalgia/cultishness around Nintendo that imo really warps objectivity.

As someone who no longer gives into that nostalgia the "Nintendo tax" is much harder to accept.

A leak of what exactly? That a Switch 2 exists? Big whoop

Yes. Prior to leaks, we weren't even sure whether it was a Switch 2 or a Wii Ew.

We already saw exactly what it looked like, and even already had indication of the optical sensor in the mice.

Their stock jumped from investor relief that they hadn't reinvented the wheel again. "Big whoop". Yeah if you already know what to expect from leaks.

Nintendo just said "alright alright the leaks are all true, ALL OF IT. Now get off my back"

It's a more powerful Switch, it's what anyone would have expected. Whether or not you like the Switch will probably determine whether or not you like this.

People are complaining about the reveal but most of that is always online nerds who expect everything to be tailored to them when it comes to game announcements. Nintendo is selling a mass market machine so while their approach may be underwhelming for the minority who has spent the last three years refreshing GAF for leaks, it's probably appropriate for the rest of the world. April 2nd will be the blowout that's more targeted at the hardcore and I would expect they have a lot to show.

Then you have people screaming about the end of innovative Nintendo. I assume these people are just kids and haven't been gaming that long because Nintendo has done plenty of iterative consoles.

This.

But also people are forgetting the capabilities of the Joycons and what they offered over the years. Each Joycon is a controller, together they make a pro controller, they attach to the system, they can be used for party games and include motion, HD vibration which makes sounds, there are rumors of them with mouse capabilities, you can put them in a steering wheel and so on.

I mean look at this:

Nintendo Labo was so incredibly creative and innovative. Just because the switch is in it's current form factor to take advantage of a plethora of third party games, it has a lot of different opportunities other than traditional gaming. But most importantly in order for it's library to grow with third parties, it needs to have traditional controls on top of the additional capabilities that the Joycons may offer. You can't go too crazy. So I wonder, what is it that people wanted over this highly versatile, mobile, form factor? We also don't know the limits of the accessories that Nintendo are willing to make.

Stop trying to drum up a hate train. We all know Switch 2 will deliver Nintendo's exclusives and console exclusives as per usual. However, the reveal was lackluster, especially for Nintendo. I'm still hype for the system, but I think they should've just waited for an all out reveal in April.

I just project hate on the switch 2 to help wake up nintendo fans.

After 10 years waiting for a successor they deserve much better than this.

It almost feels like a similar scenario like it was going from nintenso ds to nintendo 3ds. Yet then they also had the ganecube ans the wii right next to them.

When you think about it , yes they went hybrid but at the cost of taking away a much stronger home console or a much more affordable portable console.

Here is a happy medium, ok . But to release the exact same console design with the exact same mechanics plus some useless one after 10 long years......my god talk about greedy.

For me, not sure about others, i dont attack nintendo fans nor it is my intent to do so, i attack nintendo with this ,while me making fun of nintendo fans is more of a poor substitude of wanting to slap a child on the ass for fucking up.

Nintendo fans are the real hardcore gamers at heart.
They support the console they support the games. They always want more and are willing to pay a preium for it .Just think snes or n64 game cartridge prices vs ps game prices .
They never turn their back against nintendo and they stick it out till the end good or bad.
And for this they have my respect.
MAYBE they just like them and don't overthink about it lol

It's not hate, it's just thoroughly underwhelming and the criticism is rooted in the truth. This is the best they could do after all this time? Just sad....
Most of their games are mediocre yet get praised. It's confusing. I didn't even bother finishing the BOTW patch they charged me $60 for. They have small teams making average games and it shows. Most of their games are AA priced at AAA.

first of all, I don't think there's any hate bubble. This thread seems an overreaction.
Just some fun vocal gaffer as usual, suffocated by the fact that most of GAF is going to buy a Switch 2 in the end. But it's the same on every forum, let's be honest.

ngl this had me laugh. In particular the bolded parts lol. As if anyone cares, or should care, about the fact that PS5 has a different design than PS4?
It's essentially the same machine, just more powerful. And rightly so I would add. I'm glad Nintendo didn't attempt some weird shit like WiiU and introduced just minor changes like this mouse thing or whatever it is.

Bit confused also about the pricing part, since actually games are way less expensive on Switch than the other consoles. It's indeed the only real reason why I myself stick to PC+Switch for gaming, despite not being especially a Nintendo fan (I don't really play Mario games except Mario Kart with my wife, for example). Some games of PS5 have my interest, but the overall package, it's way too expensive. And it's not really that I lack the money, it's just that the expense is not justified. It's just gaming.

Keep fighting the good fight champ, it's good entertainment.

I never understand what this "boring" is about.
After the SNES, Nintendo committed to challenging the status quo with their devices.

When your last 3 home consoles are the Wii, the Wii U, and the Switch, releasing a “Switch Pro” as your next big console is the safest, most boring move you could make.

The Switch tv console came out in 2012. I'm excited to see a new one after 13 years. Even if the handheld looks just like the previous handheld.

On one hand I do admire that it looks the same. It means they spent the least possible time on the stuff that doesn't matter. In the end, when you're using it as a handheld, it's a screen and controls anyway. When you're on the tv it might only be Pro controller along with your tv. It warms the heart they didn't overspend on the looks.

But also me is liking to see hardware that screams new gen when looking at it on the shelf or coffee table.

I haven't seen a hate bubble.
I just see a reasonable unexcited reaction to an unexciting reveal. The form factor is no longer a novelty like in the original Switch and they just showed a 3D render with no added detail about what makes this console exciting. Even the single game announcement was done in the most unexciting way.

I'm sure opinions will change and the discussion will become more interesting once they actually talk about the console in April.

I would not say hate, but a lot of people are dissapointed with the showing. I could not even tell if it the same Mario Kart for the third time or a new one.

What hate?
Outside of the underwhelming reveal there's nothing to talk about or hate.
Seems you're asking why aren't people jumping around like they're teenage girls at a Nsync event back in 2001 because that's how you feel about the very little they showed and if people don't feel the same...it must be hate.
