From Nintendo's financials

2.08 in The Americas, 1,27 in Japan, 1,34 in Europe, 1.13 Others. That means roughly about 39% of the yearly forecast for NS2 has been already done in the first month.

Update: Nintendo also says they've sold to customers (sell-through) more than 6 million units in the seven weeks after launch.

As many new already, they confirmed that the margins of the Switch 2 console are lower compared to the Switch.

At some point something will have to give, I think they'll increase the price of the system next year, especially in Japan.

It's a great console. They gave us what we wanted which was a better version of the Switch.
With the PS5 and Series X just being slightly better versions of the previous gen, the Switch 2 is closer to them than some would think. The ports will speak volumes. WWE2k25 is a perfect example of a major third party releasing a damn near identical game to the Switch 2 at 60 fps.

5.82M Switch 2's and 5.63M units of Mario Kart World in 25 days.. They have a freaking >96% attach rate on that game.

Safe to say it was easily the correct choice for a launch title.

Heres's a leak of the upcoming DLC:

I personally really like MKWorld but DK Bananza really made Switch 2 worth….every…..penny.

Phenomenal game, DKB is up there with Xenoblade and Kid Icarus Uprising as one of favourite game on Nintendo.

No change to the Metroid Prime 4 launch, despite still being vague.

Can't be long now.

Not all hardware. It's just one of the SKU's.

If you don't want Mario Kart you'll obviously go for the cheaper option.
Professor Layton isn't 1st party technically ? Cause it was listed as 2025

Probably close to zero
Profit did not increase YoY (shattering hopes of overtaking Sony in profit department with Sw2 launch), assuming software profit the same, hardware margin would be 6 times lower for Sw2 than Sw1

So Jeff Gerstmann said with quite the conviction that the reason for the absolutely crazy pricing of MK World is because Nintendo wants people to get the bundle instead. Which suggests that the MK World pricing might be a one-off. I am no expert, but Gerstmann has been around in this shithole of an industry for longer than I have been alive, so maybe he's right.

Zelda and Mario Party are also 80$

Wii Sports would be a better example.
No. Wii Sports was free and bundled with every system outside of Japan. If you bought a Wii you didn't have a choice.

Mario Kart World is an additional $50 on top of the base SKU, which you can choose instead.

I googled and Zombie U and Monster Hunter 3 were also offered as software launch bundles.

Wii Sports would be a better example.
Wii Sports was a pack in, the Mario Kart World bundle costs and additional £34 in the UK compared to the stand alone console. An extra $50 in the US.

Haters gunna hate.

That doesn't make sense, dont get me wrong it might be their thinking but it doesn't make sense. People were most likely going to buy Mario Kart at launch there was no need to give us such a good deal with the bundles unless they were trying to ease us into something.

Maybe. I can only say that all that shit did in my case was that it made me wait to buy a Switch 2 (no bundle) until DK Bananza and not buy MK World.

Is 2 million hardware in a single launch month in North America a new record?

I'm guessing they're already at 8 million as of today World wide. Wii U lifetime sales in sight!!

I believe the Wii during its peak hype was getting close to 4 million in the U.S. in one month. I somehow couldn't find any later articles with solid numbers, but the story I could find seems to confirm 3 million+ in one month.

*Just noticed the "launch" disclaimer. Feel free to disregard this post.

Obviously the attach rate for Mario Kart World is insane and close to 100%. At launch was the only new exclusive, there is a bundle that can make you buy it for cheaper and is the most popular Nintendo game out there, will sell millions for the coming years.

Also, the game is awesome, something that a loud little crowd tend to forget because it costs 10€ more than other games (that people buy every year like CoD or FIFA).

Didn't even reflect on the total software sales of 8.67M. 65% of it is just Mario Kart..

Seems Nintendo also went out of their way to announce Switch 2 passed 6M units within 7 weeks, despite being outside of the cutoff period.

Margins will improve when the install base is bigger, because that means you have more people buying games for the system (games that cost $70). Hardware sales alone aren't lucrative for any console, what is lucrative is having people buy first party games on the system which gives Nintendo a 100 % cut.
