Do you have an iPod Touch or iPhone? If so, download the Kotoba dictionary app which is free (though the app itself hasn't been updated for some time). You can ignore the example sentences since some of those have questionable translations. If you have an Android phone, there's an dictionary called Aedict, while Simeji or FlickWnn (and all of those are free!) is needed for Japanese input.
