Finally got a chance to put in more than a couple of hours.
It really is an incredible piece of work narrative and presentation wise. The action scenes (on foot and driving) look better than they play, but that was expected.
Just finished the game. Amazing experience. The city is amazing and the story to me came together very nice. If anything my only qualm is the check and X marks for getting questions wrong or right. I would have rather you did not know this as I restarted so many cases as I just could not move on knowing I was wrong more than once and potentially missed something. Also some evidence clearly seemed as if they could be used but where wrong.
Overall I loved this game and the title of the threads says Team Bondi's L.A Noire but there is no doubt this game feels like its comes from the family of GTA and that makes me cant wait for the next GTA which I think will be set in a modern version o this city. I purposely did not play many of the side missions or buy the DLC as I want a reason to reply it on the PC. I hope we see a sequel of sorts.

The worst response and action I can have/take towards a game is the willingness to trade it in, regardless of whatever amount I will get for it. I'm trading L.A. Noire in tomorrow for whatever Gamestop will give me.
But, I am not going to give them the DLC codes I got when I pre-ordered it.
So GAF, quote me if you want either "The Naked City" or "The Consul's Car" (both PS3), first response get's it. They were not redeemable due to the PSN outage and I couldn't stand to play Noire past it's first weekend of release. I also have those Badge Pursuit Challenge pictures, but I think that was a stupid trinket they packed in with the game.

Completed 13/21 missions so far. Honestly, I want this game to end already. lol it's taking forever to complete! I want to start playing another game, but I can't until I finish this. 1950's Los Angeles is just not interesting enough to me. I've seen cities before. I can't even kill pedestrians. Iono I liked GTA4, but still, this game...it seems...1950s ain't that interesting. Same reason why I'm not enjoying Mad Men that much, but Don Draper sure is an interesting character.

Just finished, and god am I glad to be done. I hit a brick wall around mission 13 and the only thing that kept me going was the amusement I got out of mowing down pedestrians and causing mayhem in the cars.
Had rented the game back at launch. Played for an hour and returned it. This weekend I was able to grab a copy very cheap... Put it in with a more open mind and I am really enjoying it.
I think this type of game works for me.. play a case all the way through then put the controller down. Come back another day and knock out another case.
I like the low key vibe of the game and the setting is fantastic. I see myself finishing a R* game for the first time ever. Always got hung up with RDR and any GTA game.
Well I stuck with it, finally got a bit better at the questioning, and completed the game last night.
Overall I think the idea was a good one, it's nice to have a different gameplay now and then, but I think it was executed poorly. The characters were bland and the story boring. I'm kind of glad I don't have to play it anymore.
Still it looked pretty and the facial expressions were awesome.
Anyone notice the lack of blonde haired people? I'm only at vice, but so far everyone has brown hair. All the pedestrians also. Kinda took me out of the game once I noticed.
Perhaps its a noire thing? I don't really know the genre.
So Phelps cheated on his wife... but why? Is there any story behind why? It seems like there's part of the game that's missing. I figured they'd explain it at the end. The end of the game's story just seemed all over the place.
Also, I heard there's two case desk that were taken out of the game. Any truth to this?
Got this today...and played up to my first promotion to Traffic.
Likes:
- Atmosphere is pitch-perfect
- Voice acting is top-notch
- Graphics are stellar
- The cases are interesting so far
Dislikes:
- "It's only a couple blocks away" - Seriously every case, he said that.
- WTF at that first Interrogation scene? Are they all like that? Where if you screw up one thing the whole case is destroyed and you start from the top? Or do some let you miss on some and make it up? I had to listen through and wait for the hints like 10 times. I had no idea what I was doing...
Popped in to say that I got around to playing/finishing Reefer Madness yesterday and really enjoyed it; feel like it had the ideal mix of action and detective segments. Wish I'd had it when I went through the Vice desk for the first time.
From the title of the image and the fact that no one seems to have commented on or edited it at the time, I can only deduce that the image was changed on the server side after the fact.
And oddly enough, amateur sleuthing in the LA Noire thread is only the second most meta thing I've done today.
Welp, I just did the Fallen Idol...what a cool case.
I got to the scene with the titties and turned it off...
Game is really something...I heard a lot of complaints about the pacing and whatnot, and I think it's perfect. I really thought that there would only be one way through the case, but it appears that I'm horrible at the questioning (averaging around 55-75% per case) and they play out differently than how the Case Notes says it should have.
Definitely feels like it encourages multiple playthroughs of the cases.
Spoilers regarding the Fallen Idol
Finding the two-way mirror and then busting down that facade was awesome. Seeing this perverse thing going on behind the scenes of a seemingly innocuous prop house...really cool. They just captured the era so well, and the actors are all phenomenal. I love seeing people that I recognize from other projects...
Annnnnd stuff.
(EDIT)
OH...one thing, it's funny when you have voice actors that they must have recorded differently because the audio quality is completely shit. Like Kinsey from Mad Men, the bartender in the hit and run case...his audio is awful.
Other than that, though. The graphics are excellent.
I'm assuming that these guys didn't actually kill the girls...the way the bodies are splayed out makes it seem like it's more than just random husband killing...
I got yelled at by the chief after that mission...he mad
I just got this from Gamefly for PS3 and put the disc in and got an error that said something like "An error occurred during the startup process" a couple of times. I took the disc out and cleaned it and now when I try to launch the game it just goes to a black screen and hangs. I have to turn the switch off on the back of the PS3 as nothing else will work. This is on an 20GB PS3, any fixes for this?
And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
I just finished up last night. I almost gave up on this game about halfway through the homicide desk. If anyone else finds themselves in the same spot hang in there, Vice and Arson get better. I like the Aaron partner in particular. I think the way they handled the last couple of cases was interesting and I liked the change up. Solid game if you can get past the drag during the middle potion, around the middle of homicide.
Maybe someone could help me, I'm on the mission where
you play as the inspector for I believe the insurance company? Anyways, I have been sent to this run down shack thing to investigate it and find this one guy (forgive me, its been a little while since I last played). I have been going over every inch of that shack it feels like and nothing. What am I looking for and where to find it?
Any help would be appreciated, its been a couple of weeks since I played
FREE Mikasangelos.
I feel bad for the guy. More reason why should should reupload instead of hotlinking. Its tragic but funny. I hope its not a perma-ban
