took me about 6 hours or so but I've got heavy down now. Finally realised that I can't go flying in like I do as soldier or pyro, better to corner lurk more. Got natasha too, 18achievements in 7hours.

Now to get the damn taunt achievement.

In thinking about the change we wanted to make to critical hits, we decided that there was a point on the graph of particular interest to us, and that was the point at which your critical hit chance was as much a result of your performance as it was the base chance. If you look at at (A) on the old line, you'll see that point isn't reached until you've done 550 recent damage, a feat that occurs about as often as our backstab code works correctly.

:lol

It's strange, I remembered them mentioning more going into the crit calculations than just weapon type and positive damage caused, like there was a slight bit of AI director in it. Something about keeping highs high and lows low, maybe it was in the commentary?

I suppose that's what the damage monitoring accomplishes, but I thought there was more going into it.

So...
It's damage based
Now there's less chance to crit
Slightly more reliant on recent damage dealt

I still think there's more since you always get those times where you spam 3 out 4 nades/rockets that are crits.

Oh shit. OH SHIT. OH THANK YOU GOD JESUS YES.

And I actually prefer crits on

How do you send pics to your enemies? I've been checking some achievements and some of them deal with sending pics to your enemies >_<

If you're talking about the ones I'm thinking of, all you have to do is do whatever it tells you after you kill someone. For example, if I remember correctly, there's a Pyro achievement that requires you do each of your taunts after you kill someone, so they get a picture of you taunting.

Why does nobody play in Hydro? I've only played once, but couldn't finish the game, because it was meant to last an hour and half :lol

Hydro is like a horrible stalemate festival most of the time. with just 1 point for each side it tends to be easy for people to camp it on defense, so neither side ever wins without an incredible push.

Thread tagline still rings true. The EVGA guys are fun, but Team NeoGAF needs to get back together.

Most definitely. The Robama vs Killery days were a blast even though the big battle never took place.

I got this shit cheap with the rest of the Orange Box and had a fun few matches. So much better than the barren 360 online experience (shudder to think of unfortunate lonely PS3 users). Wonder if I can any of you online over the next few months.

about the only real fun for me in l4d anymore is the rare few GAF vs games, or finding increasingly obscure lines to say using the vocalize command, so I am definitely going to get back into tf2 for a bit.

I like the idea behind hydro, but it's just too easy for people to camp on defense and make it unwinnable. and it's even worse if you're stuck on a team with bad defense because the other side just runs you over and gets to kill everybody 50x in a row in the final level.

There's still nothing quite like being a Heavy and escorting the cart on Badwater from spawn to the end without stopping. Maintaining a solid defense as RED on the roof overlooking the second point against a good team is a nice rush as well; the back area gets so little play normally that it still feels fresh.

Cashworks_b2 is pretty neat, if you find a server running it.

I just played 4 hours on cashworks today, I really like the map, and surprisingly there aren't many snipers...

That is so weird considering that it has so many long open spaces.

Main point to the map is that it is long and has about 3 ways to attack each point. It's great.

*Is that a female model on the Pyro? :lol

I've only tried Natasha once, and wasn't very happy with the outcome. Against heavies is basically useless in head to head combat. Should i give it a second chance?

Natasha excels at screwing over classes that aren't soldiers, Sasha heavies, and engineer buildings. I personally prefer raw power, but it's a viable tradeoff depending on what classes the other team is stacking.

There are also so many ways to get around to the snipers that even pyros regularly take them down.

Guarantee I'm going to screw up this post? Yeah.

Natasha is MUCH better now, after the update.

Well the update improved (decreased) bullet spread so both guns are funnels of doom. The normal gun more so, but Natascha is just insta death vs scouts. :[

You can pretty much kill anything you shoot at now except snipers.
Which is why I don't like playing heavy... Every other class I can shoot back and hit them.

Wow. Incredible.

I couldn't work out where these are from. Are they Left 4 Dead zombies? They kind of remind me of Bioshock Splicers.

One thing I wish Valve would tweak out is the taunt kills still working for losing teams or stalemates. It takes a bit of the fun out of the after-game running around and taunting when a Pyro runs up and Hadoukens you to death while you're stuck in place.

Yeah no.

I'd rather have the opposing team have full health and crits, but the losing team could still fight back at like 10% damage.

It gives you those shreds of hope. Plus they might not run away as much, it's just not fun.

Thanks. I'm only a little ways into Fallout 3, so I didn't recognize it.

Yeah no.

They've lost the objective, the whole point is to chase them down like dogs as they scamper for hiding spaces. Why would you give them a chance to fight back when the match is already over? There is no hope, that's the point. :lol

Plus it makes it that much more rewarding to hide from them or dodge their attacks the whole time, or keep them convinced you're one of them as a spy when any stray bullets will take you down.

That's actually why I enjoy it. If you're that noob to walk into a hadouken then you deserve to die. Although last time I played pyro I'd just spend that time running around smacking sentries with it.

I was going to say this, but

Well it's his fault for getting stuck in place anyway right?

It's because I'm noob? :lol God. No, I had it happen once on stalemate (and the Pyro ran up to do it after I started Engie-dancing, before I saw him), and once when the other team lost and the Pyro snuck up behind me, while I was looking down an exploded hole in a Payload map to grab a screen. 98% of the other killing tools don't work once the round ends, why should the failing team(s) get to keep that weapon?

Stalemates were always about running up to the other team and reveling in the "lol, we suck" moment because neither team won, and the game boos us all. Why should I have to be extra careful and paranoid if they chose Pyro or Heavy, versus the other classes?

C'mon, don't fall into the "cuz ur a noob" bullshit.

it's about the longest taunt I've seen, but I still do it to buildings instead of people just because it's more fun that way. maybe the heavy one is worse, I don't know. I don't really kill people with taunts anyway. I do think it's pretty tough to get stuck like that though but then I always wait for other people to taunt first.

been a week, any news?

I heard it was coming out today or tomorrow, but take that with a huge grain of salt since my source was a random player in TF2. :lol

My (vague) prediction: it'll be released on a Friday, so they can simultaneously organize another week-end where the game'll be entirely free for that period of time.

Wouldn't they want the existing copies patched first before they put the huge burden of the free weekend downloads on their servers?

Patch is instant and mandatory so I don't see why it would be a problem.
Not much on their servers anyway :lol

That reminds me [GAF] Mo the Hawk was playing on =ego='s server for a bit.

*How to defend the 1st point on Cashworks :lol
It's more the second point since a smart team will flank on the right and have a few crouch behind the cart, but sometimes the 5 sentries make them not charge at the cart.
This is the only map besides that giant hill one that drops my FPS into the 40's :[

I still get that funny feeling whenever I think of how awesome a TF2 tournament with large teams would've been :(.

We should just try and get a regular gaf game going... if we had servers.

Was checking dumb ideas for Scouts and saw this. I remember seeing it before though.
0.0001% chance of ultimate attack :lol

**I actually thought of my own idea now. I like it since I play Scout.
You can tell me how broken it is. :[

*
Adds a sprint meter to the Scout similar to the Spy's cloak.
Does not replace any weapons.

Percent (%) drainage depends on how long you use it and give you a speed reduction for (%) * 5 (or 8 or 10) seconds.
