What do I have to do to open them up?

Quit TF2 and start it again, its a bug.

3rd TF2 Server based on L.A should be up this afternoon.

I'm trying to work something out with Multiplay out of the UK to get a 4th TF2 and a 100tic CS: Source server online.

But I was... playing Stronghold. And there were instant respawns! Either that or I got lucky every single time I got killed, as did my friend...! He was complaining about the instant respawns. Not because of lack of them.

I swear I'm not making this up! Well didn't before Stronghold, and 2fort didn't after Stronghold, but Strongholddefinitely had instant respawns.

Respawn timers make it actually mean something when you kill a player, otherwise you just teleport them back to their base.

EDIT: Oops looks like I was getting map names mixed up. It was Stronghold that had the instant respawns, not Castle. Guess I've never played Castle? Stronghold had castle-like things so I thought maybe...

That was a blast, but I had to drop so I can watch the bengals lose another game. Maybe someday engineer will drop off my most played class.

I am so bad in the other custom map, the capture one.

there are so many holes and ways to get the intelligence that even if I find a good sentry spot, I dont have time to set it up or someone else will still knock it down from commin one of the several other ways.

I kept getting murdered on that map. Not fun at all for me.
 
I was thinking about it and what needs to be changed as a whole in the game is a delay between a spy dropping the zappers, something to mess up the zappers. In the last few games, spies would rush in and spam drop zappers on everything, I had to constantly be getting them off my sentry and stuff but as I got them off, right away they were dropped, I was pretty much stuck because there was no delay for me to kill him before fixing my stuff.

Thats what Pyros are for.
 
Well this map where there's like two paths in a castle that lead to a capture point? It sucks, mainly because once the snipers get in, there's no freaking way to get out of the spawn point. It's REALLY flawed.
 
I think the map time limits need to be lowered. It really takes forever for a map to change and everyone starts complaining about it. Also, it really sucks if you're up against a stacked team and the teams won't be changing for an hour or longer.

Are you talking about the one with the long ramp down? And snipers sit way in the distance and snipe anyone that comes down it?

We were just playing a map and Crooked Rain was sniping everyone. After a couple headshots, I buffed the medic and we ubercharged our way down and fought our way to the CP.

But if that's the map you're talking about, you definitely need a good medic to get you out of there if they're set up.

EDIT: Nice. I went on an 8-4 spree against Warcock today to raise my k/d to 11-17. God damn, snipers:)
 
Yeah, medics are key on that map. It definitely needs to be smaller though. It really sucks for classes like the pyro because in most areas, you can snipe them before they can even get remotely close. Also, the bigger areas make the map take more of a toll on my framerate than any other map. The spawn areas also need more cover around them so they can't be camped as easily.

I guess it's going to be later rather than sooner for us to get some new official maps from Valve. Not that I particularly blame them for taking the time to make their maps as balanced and awesome as possible, but there's such a huge gulf in quality between the user made maps and Valve's.

Brought all 3 servers down to update somethings.

Brought map time from 60 to 40 minutes.
Fixed some random kicking by the server due to words used.. (Warcock this is for you)

Added in the NeoGAF Charity Ads :D

Hey Confidence man, how's your map going?

PS : I have to say, valve's map making tools are amazing i'm not the least bit surprised they have such a huge mod community, the tools are really fun to use.

Valve understands better than anyone these products life increases exponentially by the mod support alone.

Try going on server #2 or #3. People will join.

Yeah it's really awesome. I can't wait until they get their user-generated DLC stuff working on steam.

I was having an absolute blast on Scout earlier today before the server went down. Moved on to finally finish a game of 2fort on another server, and finally get the World Traveler achievement. 2fort isn't so bad when there aren't three engineers on each team!

What do you mean? the only DLC content they will be allowing in the future is their video creation service with the video creator that won't be out for 3 months or so.

If you're referring to custom maps, mods,etc you'll have to get that through various community sites.

After alot of playing and empirical data gathering i have come to the reject the null hypothesis that scouts are imba. It might seem so at first hand because of their increased mobility, double jump and point blank scatter gun damage. But i have realllly seldomly seen a scout on top on the gaf servers or a game breaking scout. Also it is probably one of the hardest classes to play, your aim has to be on viagra.

Oh, really? I guess I heard wrong. I freely admit I'm ignorant about the future of Steam, I just remember reading something along those lines somewhere. (Is there a place I could go to read up on all of Valve's future plans for Steam? I don't know why I haven't, yet!)

That's a shame. Such a thing would make Steam truly the greatest thing in existence. Complete with rating systems of course. ):

People think scout is imbalanced? o_O

I love playing the scout, jumping around, moving fast, it's so much fun. But damn is it hard to play well! I do infinitely better as soldier (well maybe not infinitely). When I'm scout I get so few points (except maybe caps), but when I'm soldier, I shoot up the scoreboard pretty fast. If anything, I'd say soldier is the easiest class to play as. Plus if a scout runs into a level 3 turret, it's pretty much insta-death.

Stats are being reset and are turned off until Server #3 is added. Which will be by sometime this afternoon and then its fair game. :D
