Well I'm just speculating, but it gives MS something they've been sorely lacking, positive buzz. Everybody loves a winner and if (for a lot of the public) the talk shows and papers are the only place they hear about the consoles before they appear in shops, a lot of them will choose the console that they heard had the most games on offer.

If this were true, and it were to somehow spread and become standard I think I'd have to quit gaming more as a matter of practicality than anything else.
Sad thing is I could see this succeeding well enough for them despite completely murdering their marketshare, you get a few rich people or poor saps buying into it, and so they profit off their own version of "whales" except instead of the whales subsidizing a free game for everyone else you just get everyone going elsewhere for entertainment.
