TEKKEN 7 |OT| How I killed your mother

I didn't say it's useless, but if you're in a bad spot where you would actually want to use rage drive, you don't want your back turned to someone who is going to try to poke you to death. But hey, I'm not a Tekken god. I suppose it's possible to do the rage drive out of a combo, but I'm not that sophisticated yet.

Are you a Xiaoyu player ?

Its easy for her to get into Back stance.

if xiaoyu has her back towards you, she has more of an advantage then you do unless she does something stupid like her kick or california kick and its blocked.

It's awesome setting up 3 man lobbies, play a few, take a break and watch, jump back in next game.

It's great.

I barely play fighters online (other than For Honor) so it's the first time I'm seeing this and I'm loving it. Chat between matches, not much waiting around with 3 players to a room, change characters between rounds if you want... and get to have breaks while still enjoying some matches. You get to know how they play and it feels kinda social and chill.

So many characters I'm trying to relearn and learn in general. Jin, Kazuya, Asuka, Devil Jin, King, Heihachi, Lars, Master Raven, Akuma, Shaheen, Steve, and more too, just a lot I've been used to and have been playing for years but I haven't picked up in a while. That's one reason why I love fighters. These games have major longevity if you're willing to learn all the ins and outs.

The gameplay feels really tight and polished, I can see myself sticking with this for quite a while. Looking forward to mastering Yoshimitsu properly again.

I mained Xiaoyu in T3, though I wasn't playing at a very high level.

I've never used her back stance much; I usually get punished when I'm in it unless it's part of a combo, so obviously I need to do more work with that stance.

She's change a significant amount since then, to the point where she can decimate if you know her inside and out, so many exploits for juggles and follow ups in mid air either after a launch or before one

I learned with her backward stance to crouch and turn away from the enemy instead of just turning backwards. Its easy for enemies to punish with jabs. That's just a small tip. Also aotp dodges a ton of sht. Using California roll without the kick and setting up mind games is also amazing.

She has so much more tools !

Got Marauder and I'm 2 wins in. I'm taking a break. This game is too much for my heart. People are too good. Basically been winning by luck.

By the way... I'm maining Lars and I feel like this dude is lagging behind the rest of the cast. It feels like everyone's shit beats mine. They've got faster pokes, better reach, faster launches. Is their a recent arcade tier list out there? I know they are more for good players, I'm just wondering where this guy falls.

I went ahead and made a google spreadsheet for ya'll to share your PSN name, Steam ID, and/or Gamertag to hook up and match against each other like what ForzaGAF does.

Shoutouts to Shortt Sirket for making the original spreadsheet template. I just need to figure out a way to share the link without it being public to all lurkers lol

EDIT : Got it. Quote this post to see the link to the spreadsheet

Thanks for the tips. I have a high wall to climb with her.

I think I need to invest in a stick eventually, I flub too many diagonal inputs with the pad.

I use ps4 controller but yeah mastering a stick gives you an amazing amount of control over your character. Hard at first but if you're a fighting game fanatic, its the way to go.

Very. The pure lineup is insane there's many different ways to tackle it. I haven't felt this great about a Tekken game since T5DRO.

Is Tekken the 2nd most popular fighter behind SF in EVO?

Competitively no, sales no either, Tekken is higher. In fact it's the highest when it comes to a franchise. Individually, NRS games have been selling the most in recent times.

Tomorrow new capture card hype.

Any tips for a Steve newbie?, having trouble mounting an effective offense...

Get gud...no but seriously, he's hard as hell to use. I'm in the same boat.

Use these resources to get an idea of how he plays

He really doesnt have any "free" easy to use damage moves or launchers so you have to rely completely on outplaying your opponent.

Also get used to transitioning into Flicker stance or Peekaboo from d/f+1, 2 or f, 2, 1 alot. Keep in mind these strings arent really safe. B+1 into Flicker is good as well. But easy to duck under for the opponent.

His lows are ass so people dont really have to respect them meaning you have to hope on them pressing buttons between your strings. Good luck.

Yeah I love Tanukana's Ling from a style perspective. I'm just taking it slow right now though. This is going to sound odd, but I've never really used air juggles, I've always thought they were kind of a bullshit part of the game. I still kind of do in a way, but I want to be more competitive now so I have to get with the program. So right now I've been working on being more comfortable with launchers and finding some combos that work for me. I can already see an improvement, but there's so many aspects to her and ways to play her that I have a long way to go.

That's fucking genius. I had no idea. I need to apply this to my Ling play.

This is something I've always struggled with. Seems like being that close to the other guy cancels your run animation, so the timing must be super tight. I can do it a backdash-and-a-half away, no closer than that.

So strange. For me movement felt rough, and all the different button combinations were harder on stick. I play stick on every fighting game, but I fired this up on day one on release and couldn't wave dash worth shit or korean back dash, or effectively do certain button combos, etc.

Tried pad just to see, and it was night and day.

stick/pad is all preference. Use whatever feels more comfortable.

I hate getting the super powered Akuma special battle in treasure battle. Almost always a dead stop to my streak, and just now it was my x30 win double box battle /salt.

What's the deal with Lee's voice? She has feminine vocalizations and then... screeches as a voice?

tekken is all about punishing your enemies terrible mistakes with juggles. i played ling for a couple months and would say i could probably fare decently in tournaments. (i wouldnt win lol) it just takes practice. josie on the other hand i suck buttchekks with but im interested in learning her.
