TEKKEN 7 |OT| How I killed your mother

PC has never been the main for a fighter but Aris is trying to make it so. I agree with him and not just for Tekken but the majority of the top players and number of players in general doesn't seem to want to or cant make the transition.

Akuma is not a good character for a beginner to try to learn how to play defense in the game. You will get blown up when opponents get in.

I am decidedly terrible at Tekken. Been playing for a couple days now, think my online record is sitting around 2 wins out of 20 matches or so and those 2 wins were pure luck. I remember when 2D fighters first clicked for me, not when I got good but when I at least understood how they worked and could get why I'd lost a match. Hasn't happened here yet but I'd like to get there.

I'm practically completely new to this style of game. Are there any good really basic tutorials on defense? I'm trying to play cautiously to get a hang of things but keep getting blown up anyway. In a game like Street Fighter I know all about low attacks, overheads, jump attacks, cross-ups, techs, punishes etc so when I get hit I usually understand why. In Tekken I get hit and I have no real idea what's going on sometimes.

I really wanna understand Tekken, if not get good at it, but I'm at a true beginners place right now and need help figuring out fundamentals. I've mostly been trying to learn with Kazumi but not even sure if that's a good character to start with?

Thanks for the reply. I've been trying to work on incorporating more df+3 in my game, but the spacing is uncomfortable for me and it's so slow. I also need more b+1 and BT game in general. I'm not sure how to incorporate them naturally without feeling like I'm trying to force it. Same with uf+3+4, 3.

I'm also stuck in a combo mentality, when it seems like most higher level matches I'm getting into now are decided by pokes and pressure, with full combos just being kind of a bonus for when your opponent really fucks up. So I'm way too predictable, trying to fish for df+3+4, uf+3, ws2, db+4 (yes I know that's a bad habit) and the like. Which leads to me getting destroyed by people who know how to pressure (Claudio, Dragunov, Bryan).
Knowing what moves to use when is really a question of getting a feel for the game and your opponent and will take some time. It ultimately comes down to the frame advantage you and your opponent are are and how hard they are willing to commit. If they're staying super compact with lots of pokes that only lead to minor frame disadvantage, you're not going to have a great spot to do something like b+1 or df+3 (although keep b+1's range in mind). However, that does give you the leeway to take some bigger risks, like sidestepping (sidestepping into something like df+2 or uf+3 can lead to a rather big payoff). If the opponent does something that's heavily disadvantageous on block and is respecting it, that's when you can start using the slower moves that give better imitative.

Fishing for launchers is just going to lead to better players just waiting to let you hang yourself either on block or on whiff. I guess I would say that do more unsafe moves with a purpose -- either because you saw them whiff something that you can punish or because you have a hard enough read on something (like "oh they throw out lows here a lot, I'm gonna let a hopkick rip").

Online is simply not going to work for me :(

I have yet to find one player in Japan (or even in Asia), I can only find American and European players and the lag is just terrible. And no, if I have to change my account so it's Japanese, I'm not going to bother, the Japanese Steam store sucks. I don't know how Street Fighter V does it, but ever since I moved to Japan, I get mostly Japanese matches even though my account is still Mexican.

Bleh... I love this game so much, but I won't be able to play :(

I used to get ranked games every 5 to 10 minutes before today, then I changed the steam download region and now i get them every 20-30 seconds at the most. Great fun game, although I am still learning the ropes (sf player), I think I have about a 37% winning rate :(. Tons of moves to memorize for hwoarang and stances and positions , having a blast though!

I changed my download region and now I'm finding Chinese players. But what's more, I'm finding NA players with good connections and I just had a lag-less match against one of them, lol. Okay, I guess I was too dramatic, but yeah, online is pretty messy right now.

I'm reading Lei, Bruce, Jun, Ganryu, Ogre, Forest Law, BS7 (?), Armor King, JI8 (?), Kunimitsu, Marduk, Michelle

Don't think it means much, to be honest.

Ganryu can stay where he is

Quiet! In the entire history of sumo, only sixty-nine masters have risen to the rank of yokozuna. I will now demonstrate what it takes to get there.

I have no problems finding players to play with from both Japan and Korea and sometimes Taiwan.

I live in Japan too and use a Canadian account.

But I'm on PS4 and not Steam, so that's probably why.

Does anyone know the name of the reporter who delivers long monotone monologs in the cinematics of Story mode?

Y'all don't really think they're going to put Forest Law and Bruce in and earn the ire of the cult of Anna, do you?

King player beat me, I asked for the runback. I caught on to their reindeer games and was up by 2, then they desynced. I hate that shit.

If anything Anna should be back because she's popular, easy to bring back, and 200won needs his main back.

ikr. I mean if you have kuma and panda with their own damn flipping character slots, and anna doesn't get one, (even though her moveset is quite different) I think she can come. :p

But omg let this DLC be true. CAPCOM ME NAMCO IDC GIVE ME MY CHANGS.

VF characters would be great. I know GAF loves him, but the mainstream consumer doesn't care one bit about Yakuza guy. Not that I'd oppose him being in the game! But yeah, sounds very, very niche and that kind of defeats the purpose of a guest character.

Also lol at that terrible list that places Bruce Lee in the same level of attractiveness as Bob and Akuma.

seems weird to call out the yakuza guy as niche then want a VF character

can't get much more niche than a character you have to dig out of their own grave
