Polls (or even stats) about religious appartenance (or ethnic) are forbidden in France, BTW.

" Officially " forbidden but you know there are other ways.

What's your point btw ? Are you saying there are 16% of muslims in France and that each one of them supports ISIS ?

This number is complete bullshit and even you know it.

Also, those are some thick-ass visors. I'm guess they're not your average riot face shield to keep from getting hit in the face by beer bottles.

Bullet resistant glass. It's designed to stop the wearer from getting shot in the face by small caliber rounds.

A suggested cover for the next issue. They would have loved it.

The issue will have a 1 million print run. To be compared with the usual 60k.

Not at all. In fact I think there is even less than those other numbers quoted (5% to 8%) because this things are really subjective ones (what is a Muslim or not, and what muslim I am).

I don't know if this will actually be the next issue cover but it's great and they would have loved it.

You have an issue with the statement?

If you knew who he used to be, you could. But according to wikipedia he changed.

edit: for clarification, this was a guy who said that he felt euphoric after 9/11, started an Arab League, mourned Saddam and went to Lebanon during the war to 'stay' at Hizbollah.

I remember the report of him being homeless as well.

Was that on NBC? Because they were just rolling with the tweet last night instead of waiting for any actual facts.
Serious papers were also reporting on this. I think it's just a massive clusterfuck for journalists as they feel pressed to give as much live coverage as possible, with sources who are confused themselves.

Really wasn't sure if this deserved its own thread.
But American media is at it again.

When discussing the role of the Police in defending against terrorism regarding this shooting in Paris, this small little quote made my jaw litterally (not figuratively) drop.

Video is from the Young Turks: Whole thing is great but right at 10:30 one of the pundits says one of the most revealing things I've heard.

This racism goes DEEP guys.

Do We even know what color they were, what their skin tone was, I mean what if they didn't look like typical bad guys

It's great to see a Gamergater here! Thanks for showing your colors and congratulations on the Fail of the Year award.

Why do you assume only members of right wing hate groups know about your racism? Nice baseless defamation attempt though.

I thought he was a homeless?

He was in class at the time. He said he saw his name pop up in social media as one of the terrorists and he "turned himself in" to prove that he didn't do anything. Which he didn't. His classmates confirmed he was in class at the time. I don't think he turned himself in for misinformation, quite the opposite he turned himself in to clear things up

Apparently they're going all in in the Longpont area, men, vehicles, helicopters... I hope the guys really are where they think they are.

I'm always surprised at the depth of racism accepted on Fox News but that was shocking.

"They couldn't see their skin color so how did they know they were bad guys" is a disgustingly racist statement.

Yeah, I watched the whole clip now. As someone who doesn't live in the US, please tell me Fox News isn't real? This is some of the worst shit I've seen, smh.

Ironically, Fox apparently didn't see what the policeman looked like either. Not that they would actually care one bit about the victims in the first place, mind you.

I'm french and this is forbidden by law. There isn't any official statistics to find.

The state can't ask you for your religion. Or it can't be asked in the context of employment etc.

But polls about religious affiliation in general aren't illegal at all.

Charlie Hebdo will launch a call for donations tomorrow: http://www.lemonde.fr/societe/artic...o-sortira-mercredi-prochain_4551899_3224.html

Edit: Also, all the profits will be given to the victims' families (the distributors will renounce their share).

I will absolutely be throwing a few dollars their way.

Yeah, I watched the whole clip now. As someone who doesn't live in the US, please tell me Fox News isn't real? This is some of the worst shit I've seen, smh.

They're quite real and quite aware of the image they represent and who their demographic is.

Is there a longer clip of that FOX news segment? I'd be quite interested to see how the others reacted to those comments.

Good article in the Guardian about an incorrect way to construct the narrative about this horrible event:

The ‘them and us’ narrative is a dangerous downward spiral

But the Paris attack was not yet another front in the “clash of civilisations”. The term civilisation in itself is meaningless in this context. What civilisation do the terrorists represent? It is understandable that, on the face of it, the attack highlights the perpetrators’ and the victims’ starkly opposed values, one barbaric and silencing, and the other enlightened and freedom loving.

But this is a false dichotomy. It omits a far more uncomfortable and complicated truth about racial tension in France, immigration, and how Muslims are settling in an increasingly secular Europe where the resurgence of rightwing parties has further racialised religion.

[...]

The victims of the attack are not only French journalists, but also French Muslims, one of whom died in the attack, and the rest who have not condoned it but will nevertheless feel the backlash.

Why do you assume only members of right wing hate groups know about your racism? Nice baseless defamation attempt though.

Then why would you believe the right winged hate group? How about instead of filling this thread with irrelevant garbage perpetuated by this right winged hate group, you'd take it elsewhere or over a PM.

This thread has become as horrible as last one. People just don't know when to stop fighting their own fights. I find this disrespectful to the people that died yesterday.

What's the status of the terrorists search?

I really wish the western press would publish 'offensive' Mohammed cartoons everyday from now on, until the butthurt subsides and a thicker skin is grown.

You have an issue with the statement?
The guy has founded a league that is best known for inciting race riots, antisemitic behaviour and holocaust denial. He joined Hezbollah, he has applauded 9/11, he called the Iranian call to Israeli genocide the morally defendable position, started private militias to patrol the streets and the AEL is of course against homosexuality. Has indirectly caused Sharia4Belgium, through Fouad Belkacem who was an AEL member.

(Most of?) The police force apparently retired from Longpoint's wood.
There's now talk of how it wasn't ever sure both fugitives left their car, so they could be pretty much anywhere right now.

Still at large, all reports are now second hand because the police itself seems to have gone dark (they're more disciplined and focused than yesterday for sure.) Lots of activity north of the gas station where they were last spotted.
