That's where they are reportedly hiding now (from Google Maps):

N24.de is claiming a hostage situation in a print factory/printing company... nothings confirmed right? An unusual place, if true then maybe that's not a coincidence... maybe the place where the Hebdo Magazine was printed? (not to spread any rumors)

The company where they are is next to the national airport - which seems like a more likely target (trying to escape by hijacking an airplane)

Does that warehouse belong to Aldi - as in the supermarket chain? Or is that something else - just curious.

Given there's also a Carrefour, I reckon it's the supermarket. But they're in an unrelated copyshop. Good for them, dying in an Aldi, yikes.

It's a warehouse/workshop to a small company that makes signs and stands. Their offices are based in Paris (according to Le Monde).

Is there a new thread for the hostage situation? I didn't know it was happening until I walked into the living room and it was on TV

I just learned that my mom is an apologist for these scumbag murderers... I shouldn't surprised, she was sympathetic towards the Boston marathon bombers too. FML :(

Hijacking a plane to get away seems like something that would only work on a film.

The way they invaded the offices and how they escaped has been described by military experts as the work of amateurs thinking they're in a video game or an action film.

There is a big problem.

The cop murder from yesterday is confirmed to have been done by another radical Islamist that knew the brothers. He possibly could have been the third accomplice (nothing to prove that yet).

Suspect is still at large. Apparently more attacks are planned, they found some documents and propaganda stuff to analyze. But right now the focus is on the two brothers.

Shit is about to go down very soon it seems.

Get them alive...

Jail them for the rest of their lives in a veeeeeeeeeeeery dark place way below the surface so they forget how freedom feels (which they took away from others).

Good to hear.

It is hard to follow what is going on now, specially if you don't speak French. Is this the end of the line for the two?

It means the hospital is asked to prepare on receiving (several) wounded. Ie, prepare to operate incoming patients.

Fuck.

The way they invaded the offices and how they escaped has been described by military experts as the work of amateurs thinking they're in a video game or an action film.

These fuckers sadly aren't amateurs.
The three men who struck the Charlie Hebdo headquarters in Paris, however, appeared to have significantly greater experience.

Retired FBI Special Agent Craig Dotlo cites the professionalism and proficiency exhibited in the attackers’ use of firearms. They wielded AK-47s, which have a strong recoil that makes them difficult to control when firing multiple rounds.

Images of one car windshield at the scene of the attack showed a very close “grouping” of bullet holes, says Dotlo, who helped investigate the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

“[That] typically reflects the shooter had good control over the weapon and the weapon was being properly aimed,” he says. “Otherwise, there would be a very wide pattern of shots in the windshield.”

Another interesting take on them
Retired Lt. Gen. Mark Hertling, former commander of U.S. Army Europe, served in the Army for more than 37 years and spent more than three years in Iraq. He was the director for war plans on the Joint Staff on September 11 and has extensive experience in strategy development and implementation. He is a CNN military analyst. The opinions expressed in this commentary are solely those of the author.

(CNN)The videos taken by citizens of Paris during Wednesday's attack on the offices of Charlie Hebdo indicate significant training on the part of terrorists. Here are some things any military professional would observe:

• The uniform: All the attackers are uniform in appearance. All have vests capable of holding multiple magazines of ammunition for their weapons, and perhaps grenades. Additionally, they are all wearing what appear to be heavy coats. That could indicate either body armor or possibly suicide vests underneath to be detonated if captured. Some experts are suggesting "they came to kill, not to die," but those of us with experience in these kinds of encounters might suggest they came to kill until they are trapped -- then they will willingly die if they can kill more by detonating a suicide vest as a last resort.

Gunmen face off with police officers in Paris on Wednesday, January 7. A terrorist attack at the Paris office of Charlie Hebdo, a French satirical magazine, left at least 12 people dead.
EXPAND GALLERY
• Use of weapons: The terrorists were wielding AK-47s, according to police spokesman Xavier Castaing, but at least one of them also appeared to have a military 3-point sling attached to the weapon (the white strap going over the shoulder). These slings are used in close-in attacks. The driver does not appear to have this strap, which allows for freedom in the car. The attackers appear to be good marksmen, as evidenced by the tight shot of a group of bullets that riddled the windshield of a French police car, shown in several photographs at the scene.

Additionally, the attackers have their weapons on semi-automatic (single shot) versus full automatic. Many terrorists use what U.S. soldiers derisively call the "pray and spray" method. That is, they point their weapons on full automatic, scream a religious slogan and let loose with a stream of bullets -- most of which don't hit the targets. These terrorists appear well-trained, with aimed fire, single shots and controlled targeting.

• Fire and maneuver: These terrorists appear to have been trained in movement techniques: They use cover (parked automobiles, or an open car door) and aim fire while their terrorist "buddy" maneuvers to a new firing location. At that point, the moving terrorist aims and fires, while the previously covering terrorist moves to join him.

• Reconnaissance: The attack occurred at noon in busy Paris, yet there was no traffic on the side streets where the citizens' filming took place. Additionally, initial reports indicate that an editors' meeting was occurring at that time, with all the subjects in one room. That indicates there was intelligence, route planning and then individual requirements for the members of the terrorist team.

• Speed: They moved fast, knew where they are going, did their job, and then they were gone. Again, that's indicative of rehearsals but also single-mindedness of mission

Yes, a spokesperson for these hospitals confirmed this is a preventive plan asked by police forces and that at this point, they don't have any information regarding injuries.

What a relief. Hope the 4 will be able to live a normal life.
I hope so too. At this point, I'll take whatever good news I can TBH.

That doesn't mean they're professionals. We know why they're experienced marksman, they just came back from a wartorn country. If they were that professional with multiple runthroughs, they wouldn't have entered the wrong building.

I'm sure the police is willing to grant that wish if they release the hostage.

One of them was trained in Yemen by Al-Qaida. He was detained for a few years then released.

Both of them were blacklisted in the US and were well-known by the french counter-terrorist services.

It's always the same story. Small thugs with no education who used to deal cannabis, went to prison, got radicalized and became terrorists. Same old story.

What exactly is a professional in this case though? The comments we have from multiple military specialist is that they were brutally efficient, that they knew how to move, how to properly wield a gun with a strong recoil and they're still not in custody. I'm not sure how to call it but amateurs sounds weird.

After George Bush didn't know what to do on 9/11, any "professional" can make mistakes.

I hope they will get these fuckers alive, but as they are keen on dying as martyrs that is going to be a hard task. They will die as cowards in my book if that happens. I hope they take no one with them as they do.

Knowing how to handle a weapon is hardly being professional. Those dudes didn't know where they were knocking on at first and missed Charlie's offices, had to ask for names instead of recognizing their victims and lost a wallet at the car.

They have significant military training and powerful weapons, but they are amateurs. Any idiot can group shots with an AK if they have received enough training. Cold blood and good aim shouldn't be confused with professionality.
